I was only in location for as long as it took to pay and pick up the order, but I could tell right away that ZAZA is a whole vibe. Normally when I visit, my meals mostly consist of the pizzas or whatever else the kiddos come up with. This time, however I came in with different thoughts on the matter. When I saw, on the counter the remains of what she had the day before, I was more than a little leaning ZAZA way. Then when she told me about it and showed me the menu I was like F dem kids. The chicken was tender, the stew and legumes were flavorful, the rice was well cooked, the tostones were crispy, and the sweet plantains were truly ripe. I honestly wish they had a combo where they could do three mains and six sides cuz I would be into that! And a special shout out to the compostable packaging. Loved it.

The staff was super nice when we came in, We had the Jerk Berger, Garlic Fries and Baby Back Ribs with Plantain fries. It sounds like they may be refreshing the interior, I would agree that would help as it felt a bit lost in design, and also a bit tired. I would definitely go back for the staff and the food.

It pains me to write this review but I hope it's seen by management and they address this issue. I had a friend visiting from another state (drove for 10 hours in snow and ice). I was excited to bring them here for brunch. I made a reservation online the day before just in case. We arrived at 10am and the doors were locked. The hours said they'd be open at 9am. Tried getting the staff's attention but it seemed like we were being ignored. I called the phone number several times. No one picked up even though I could see staff inside. I even tried sending them a message on social media but no response. We ended up going to the breakfast spot next door. When we were done, we walked past the restaurant and of course it was open then. Needless to say, this experience was super disappointing. Communication about updated hours or picking up the phone isn't too much to ask for. One bad experience isn't a dealbreaker but two will be. I hope management fixes this quickly.

But I live Haitian food and wanted something different tonight, so I gave them a shot. I got the Tassot (fried beef) and fried plantains. The beef melted away and had just enough crunch to satisfy, and the plantain was firm and easy to eat. I'm a bit of a wimp with hot spices, so if you're used to real Pikli, I'm sure you'd enjoy that too. Definitely will try more from here.
