We're talking, he couldn't stand or walk for more than two minutes without his back completely seizing up and him ending up on the ground. We ended up in Urgent Care over it and were then referred to the Spine & Back Center located at Aurora St Luke's Medical Center. They were able to get us in by the next business day. Everyone (from the valet to the front office to the nurse practitioner we saw) was empathetic, patient, and lovely in every way. They even kindly conducted the entire check out process in the exam room so my husband could remain lying down (which was pretty much the only position remotely comfortable). It was determined that he needed an immediate MRI, which, fortunately could be done right in the same building. Rather than making him walk (which was pretty excruciating), they offered a wheel chair and escorted him to the MRI. They're still working on a solution (we don't get the MRI results back until tomorrow), but having a place that was able to provide him care so quickly, efficiently, and most of all kindly? Definitely a fan of that.

I scheduled my MRI for early in the morning, 6:30am. I arrived at 6am right when they opened, 30 minutes early as requested. I was taken care of right away. I did have to chuckle at the clothing you are given to wear as no one asked my size. I believe it is meant to be one size fits all. The underwear and pants were snug while the gowns were loose. David and team did a great job letting me know what to expect and guiding me through the 45 minute experience. I enjoyed getting g to listen to my music of choice. I almost dozed off during the first twenty minutes! The lady 25 minutes were more interactive as I had to hold my breath repeatedly. I do wish I would have had them place a blanket on my calves/ankles as they got a bit cold but I had declined thinking I would be fine as I am often warm. I'll be going back in two years and will plan to schedule at St. Luke's again.

It took approximately three in-person visits and four phone calls to Aurora for them FINALLY to get it right. That's in addition to several calls to the pharmacy itself (non-Aurora), who told me no, Aurora had to handle this. Come ON: people change insurance all the time. It should NOT have taken THREE MONTHS and all that work to make a simple change.

First, parking is close and easy. Usually you can stay very close to the door. Second, the facility is small and check-in is fast and friendly and the waiting area is immediately accessible. They have a coffee machine, a table or two and standard chairs and couches for family and patients. There's also a TV and a monitor which tracks patient progress through their procedure for any waiting family or friends not inside with the patient. The interior waiting areas for patients having a procedure are standard hospital bays, with no doors, curtain access, but a recliner chair for companions or family members where they can stay throughout if they prefer. The privacy is perhaps minimal, but the access for the care time is easy and open. Every team member I've encountered here has been great - friendly, comforting, and this is important, they all seem to make a personal connection - even if it's small, that makes you feel seen as an individual. The Froedtert/Medical College is a massive organization and complex, so this is a very limited review of one area, which is the Center for Advanced Care, and specifically the Ear Nose and Throat Clinic. Been coming here for several years, and have always been impressed with the level of professionalism, and care. Especially the staff that work with Dr. David Poetker. Would recommend them to others that are struggling with ENT issues. Once you are in the proper parking structure, it's a quick ride up to the 5th floor. Get off the elevator and go east. However, I have been to other hospitals and to be quite honest I was not expecting this place to be very good. My providers have been great at active listening and then ensuring all my concerns are heard. There is also a resident there that saw me the other day after I had emergency dental surgery elsewhere and she was amazing. She even let me know that she did not like some of the symptoms I had been having but wanted to keep an eye on them. Told me to call back if they keep persisting. Ran a blood test to see if I had an active infection and that I should have the results the next day. I kid you not, I got in the car and about 15 minutes later my Dr. called and let me know that my labs were fine. That's impressive! They also have valet parking which is very helpful since it can be a bit of a nightmare trying to find parking there. But everyone I talked to or interacted with there was nothing short of kind and helpful so far.

The building is showing its years, but the equipment is all current, and the staff are up to date on all current medical technology and procedures. Even though they only had one doctor available during my visit, the staff was warm and friendly. They were able to give me an accurate wait time and their check in process texts you when your appointment is getting close in case you want to wait nearby. Street parking along the Center is free for up to 2 hours, which is convenient. They also had water and coffee available in their waiting area. The exam room was clean and it looked like they had 3 rooms available for patients. The nurse was compassionate with her care and thorough. The Doctor was kind and offered to shake my hand even though I was not feeling well. She was thorough as well, was able to determine what I was sick with and prescribe me with the appropriate medicine. It's only been a few days since my visit, but I am already feeling much better. I'm glad I chose to visit this clinic.
