The staff at St Lukes took such great care of me the anti-anxiety meds were unnecessary. Ensconced in Room C3102A, the aides, Michele and Alexis, and the nurses Shanon, Michelle, Margaret, etc, were empathetic, caring, and knowledgable, able to listen and comprehend what I needed. I'm difficult! The last time I spent an overnight in a hospital was in 1959! I am used to VIP treatment, and I am often a dilettante. However, my arrogance was diffused by the sincerity of my caregivers at St. Lukes Hospital. I'm home recuperating, but I will never forget the kindness and care shown to me by the overworked and underappreciated staff. You are all amazing.

One can become fairly attuned to what's working and what's not with that level of involvement. Second, my experiences, while not unique to Aurora, reflect on the efficiency models used throughout US medical systems. Each week I get several automated requests to check in to the same appointments. While this requires no more than five minutes of my time, it is very redundant, particularly when I am often asked for the same information when I get to an appointment. The result may be greater accuracy in billing, but I seriously doubt it improves care Further, twice I've been given a pile of papers to complete while waiting, only to have them ignored by the provider. Finally, the only apparent people with which issues can be addressed are nurses and MAs who are similarly frustrated by these issues. In the end, it's not about health or care, and the system is not about people.

They took the shirt off my back ... and then they lost it!…read more I have gone to this hospital for decades and generally have been satisfied. However, yesterday I had an experience that needs to be corrected. I was admitted to the ER for a cardiac issue and then moved to the cardiac observation unit for the remainder of the day and overnight. Unfortunately, the orderly who transported me -- he had black hair and a black beard -- used a gurney to transport and lost two articles of clothing. I don't know his name, but I distinctly remember the bag that held the clothing fell off the gurney and i remember him retrieving it. However, when I was discharged today, that bag could not be found in my room. it contained a T shirt and a grey long-sleeve dress shirt with a button-down collar my mother bought for me. That shirt has great sentimental value and I notified the Public Safety Unit and the ER of what happened. We could not find the shirt today, but I was told to call in a day since "it is probably sitting on a cart somewhere. Since my mother passed away four years ago at about this time, I'm sure you can understand how much that shirt means to me. An error becomes a mistake only if you fail to correct it, and I hope the person who handled my clothing and Public Safety can correct this mistake. To be clear, I had a decent experience with ER personnel and got excellent care from the cardiac unit. I only hope that my shirt can be found. if not, this will be a Christmas Eve I will be forced to remember --and not in a good way.

She sent me an encrypted email (had personal info). I had to tap 'click her' to read email. I got locked out due to wrong info. She said she would have TECH call me. She had to put through a work order and they would call me. That was about 9:00 AM today (3/05/2021). It is now 3:28 PM and no phone call. So I called back trying to each a Tech person. I was sent to about 7 different people. They just kept sending me on to someone else. Last number I got to call was 773-413-6900. By this time I was very upset. She wanted to know why I was raising my voice. I tried to explain why I was frustrated. She wanted to know how she was suppose to help me when she didn't even know what email I was talking about! I just thought she would be able to help me without knowing WHICH EMAIL I was talking about. Since I am not a TECH person I just said "I am going to hand up now since you nor anyone else can help me." Oh, she did say her name which I didn't understand. I asked what her to repeat her name was she didn't give it, so I said, "OK I just like to know to whom I am speaking." Very disappointed in AURORA for their help in knowing where to transfer me and getting my problem fixed. Transferring was an easy way out. One lady was really nice (about person number 5). First, parking is close and easy. Usually you can stay very close to the door. Second, the facility is small and check-in is fast and friendly and the waiting area is immediately accessible. They have a coffee machine, a table or two and standard chairs and couches for family and patients. There's also a TV and a monitor which tracks patient progress through their procedure for any waiting family or friends not inside with the patient. The interior waiting areas for patients having a procedure are standard hospital bays, with no doors, curtain access, but a recliner chair for companions or family members where they can stay throughout if they prefer. The privacy is perhaps minimal, but the access for the care time is easy and open. Every team member I've encountered here has been great - friendly, comforting, and this is important, they all seem to make a personal connection - even if it's small, that makes you feel seen as an individual. The Froedtert/Medical College is a massive organization and complex, so this is a very limited review of one area, which is the Center for Advanced Care, and specifically the Ear Nose and Throat Clinic. Been coming here for several years, and have always been impressed with the level of professionalism, and care. Especially the staff that work with Dr. David Poetker. Would recommend them to others that are struggling with ENT issues. Once you are in the proper parking structure, it's a quick ride up to the 5th floor. Get off the elevator and go east. There is nice signage that will get you where you need to go. Good luck with your treatment :)

However, I have been to other hospitals and to be quite honest I was not expecting this place to be very good. My providers have been great at active listening and then ensuring all my concerns are heard. There is also a resident there that saw me the other day after I had emergency dental surgery elsewhere and she was amazing. She even let me know that she did not like some of the symptoms I had been having but wanted to keep an eye on them. Told me to call back if they keep persisting. Ran a blood test to see if I had an active infection and that I should have the results the next day. I kid you not, I got in the car and about 15 minutes later my Dr. called and let me know that my labs were fine. That's impressive! They also have valet parking which is very helpful since it can be a bit of a nightmare trying to find parking there. But everyone I talked to or interacted with there was nothing short of kind and helpful so far.

The building is showing its years, but the equipment is all current, and the staff are up to date on all current medical technology and procedures. Even though I'm not part of this community, everyone was extremely kind and welcoming. I was seen quickly, given my shot by a really friendly tech and sent on my way after waiting the necessary 15 minutes. If you are coming for Covid services (testing or vaccines) you can make an online appointment but they are also happy to take walk ins.

Even though they only had one doctor available during my visit, the staff was warm and friendly. They were able to give me an accurate wait time and their check in process texts you when your appointment is getting close in case you want to wait nearby. Street parking along the Center is free for up to 2 hours, which is convenient. They also had water and coffee available in their waiting area. The exam room was clean and it looked like they had 3 rooms available for patients. The nurse was compassionate with her care and thorough. The Doctor was kind and offered to shake my hand even though I was not feeling well. She was thorough as well, was able to determine what I was sick with and prescribe me with the appropriate medicine. It's only been a few days since my visit, but I am already feeling much better. I'm glad I chose to visit this clinic.
