I used to frequent this business years ago when my old son was a toddler. We were always well taken care of. However, my more recent visit with my younger son did not go so well and this is what I am basing my 1 star review off of. I urgently needed a trim for my toddler, so I walked in. There were two ladies both consumed with the one and only customer that was there. No one acknowledged me at walk in. I patiently wait at the front counter. After a minute or so, I insert myself and walk further into their shop. I know at this point the ladies see me but still, no acknowledgement. I was growing frustrated and debating saying something. Instead, I decided to walk out after wasting more than 5 minutes. I understand business owners and service workers have a tough job and can be very busy, but a mere acknowledgement or "I'll be right with you" would have been just fine with me. I don't write too many reviews; but Im rating my last visit 4 weeks ago. I've brought my 4 year old three times and have tried out the three stylists. The vibe is perfect for my little one. Monica and Vere have done amazing work with the fade haircuts on him they are sweet, patient and know how to work with the kids. Olga also was very nurturing and patient with my kid, but the haircut was something else. First she was 25 mins late to the shop for an afternoon appointment (that I can let slide) but my son always had a combover to the side and I have no idea what she did that completely messed up his top hair leaving it all uneven and extremely difficult to combover. I did tell her we did a combover to the side but completely butchered it. It's been 4 weeks since I came to try and let the hair grow out but need to shorten his hair and start the combover all over again. Hopefully she sees this rating, so she can be careful next time. I have been here multiple times but after my latest experience I am not returning. This is a shame because they have nice ladies who are very good at dealing with my kid cutting their hair nicely. As I said I have been there multiple times and paid with Zelle every time. The counter says cash is preferred but Zelle and Venmo are accepted and they even have the QR codes to scan to pay via those apps. This time they waited until after my kid's haircut was done to tell me that they were ONLY accepting cash and "Zelle was down." They pointed at the counter to indicate that they took down the QR codes for Venmo and Zelle. This makes absolutely no sense to me. How can Zelle be down? Highly unlikely, but I guess not entirely impossible. BUT, if it is a problem with Zelle, why also take down the Venmo QR code and insist on cash? Venmo is a completely separate app and I could have also used that to pay. I had to withdraw money from their shady lobby ATM- pay a service fee to the ATM and my bank. It's one thing to be a cash only business. I understand that thousands of those exist especially barber shops. It's another thing to stop accepting digital payments all of a sudden with no notice. We're talking about Zelle and Venmo not even credit cards. I can't place any confidence in this business anymore and will have to go elsewhere. If you need a haircut and are prepared to bring cash, good for you. I understand it is hard to find a kid's barbershop and as I said I have no problem with the haircuts themselves. But this whole scenario does not sit well with me and I will take my chances elsewhere. read more

I won't take my 3 year old son anywhere else to get his hair cut after coming here!! He HATES getting his hair cut, and is normally terrified, but this place catered to kids and made us feel so comfortable the second we walked in. The whole waiting room was filled with fun toys, and all the cutting chairs were fun cars they could choose to sit in. My son chose the monster truck. Olga was so patient and sweet with my son, gave him tons of toys, put on his favorite show, and explained what she was doing, while she was doing it so he wouldn't freak out. This was the best hair cut experience and the only place that has been able to actually cut my sons hair without him crying, in fact he left laughing, super happy, and already asking to go back to get another hair cut. The last few appointments we had to wait 20-30 mins for our appt to begin and I kept hoping it would get better because we loved our stylist. When we arrived for our latest appt right at 10 the parking lot was still locked and there were no employees around. The gates opened at 10:05 and our stylist wasn't ready for our appt until 10:15 with no recognition of us having to wait. I'm so HAPPY I found Jennifer she had a way with scissors, she was able to finish his haircut in about 30 minutes. She asked if I wanted to use Clippers and I'm glad I didn't. Took my nephew for a haircut. Booked online, paid $10 deposit to reserve my slot. My appointment was for 1pm but we did not get seen until 1:15pm. I wanted to like this place but for $25 I wish the stylist took a little more time and trimmed him neater. You can see his hair is choppy and the line up/taper is sloppy. Granted he has 2 cow licks which is hard to work with but I paid $12 at a small hair salon and they did a better job. I was hoping that going to an actual "kid oriented" salon I'd be getting a better cut but it wasn't worth the money tbh. I know they had other customers, and was behind but it felt rushed. From the time he sat in the chair to finish was about 20mins total. I probably won't be back though. I've been going here for over 3 years and it's the best place to take kids for their haircuts. The staff is friendly and patient. I love that they are by appointment because it's never full of people. They have a side room for kids to play in while they wait for their turn and when they are done they always get a treat. Took my 2 year old son and 4 year old daughter for their first haircut. My daughters was $30 and my sons was $25. My son moved around a lot but the hairstylist was patient with him and gentle which I appreciated. They have a waiting room full of toys for the kids to play with, a vending machine and a claw machine so take cash if you'd like to for that, I was able to pay with Apple Pay for the haircuts. Both kids got to choose their cool chairs to sit in, my daughter chose the Barbie chair and my son chose lightning McQueen and the stylist put a movie of his choice, and they also got lollipops. I never asked for a discount nor did I complain about any price. I requested an appointment for a balayage knowing very well what prices of a balayage usually are. Our daughter just had her first haircut at Family Cutz just a few days shy of her 5th birthday. Much to my mother-in-law's disappointment, our daughter loved it. Plus it was her idea. Emy, the lady who cut and styled her hair, was very gentle and patient. She did exactly what I asked her to do. It was $20 for no wash (they wet it down, but washes are available upon request), cut and style (no drying, but if it weren't so hot outside I might have asked them to dry it) - plus they saved some of her clippings for the "first haircut" certificate they gave us. The style was a partial braid at the too of her hair with small butterfly clips infused. They let her pick out a super cute unicorn bow to clip at the top. Additionally, they spoiled BOTH of our daughters rotten with little toys and a lollipop even though only one got a haircut. Aside from all of the Nana-type spoiling, I would have gone here either way for her first haircut because it was a new experience. All except one staff member was super nice and welcoming. Really cute salon. Each station has a different theme and it's own TV. And they asked her if she wanted to watch My Little Pony on Netflix! Our daughter got on board with that real quick.
