I tried their raspberry tart, since, well, this is the land of delicious and fresh raspberry tarts. It just didn't reach the expectations. It didn't seem fresh and seemed more like the outcome of a factory conveyor belt and not the result of freshly made that morning with uniqueness and perfection. You're in France. Go to a bakery that is not part of a world wide chain and isn't even good anyway. Find one of those French bakeries that are one of it's kind and have been family run for generations while they still exist!

If you're tempted to try them, I highly recommend the breakfast, based on their delicious country bread which you can tailor to your own tastes, by adding a choice of drinks and more copious items. For me, the highlight was this tasty wholesome bread enhanced with the contents of some of the aforementioned jars. Easily kept me going until the evening! The coffee was good too and it was very tempting to buy some of their scrumptious wares on the way out...

Went in there recently and was completely underwhelmed by my order. Went again, ordered something different, and it was the same disappointment. The service is also a lot less friendly. I'm pretty sure the only reason it was good before was because they were putting extra effort in to make a good first impression. Everyone knows that France does gourmet right and Lille is no exception. As long as you know how to avoid the tourist pits, reasonably priced haute cuisine certainly thrives here. Where France falls short, however, is with quick-serve dining establishments (which is all the average French wage earner can afford or make time for on their daily lunch break). After five years of living in France, I've grown so tired of kebab, over-priced/small-quantity fast food, and bland sandwiches/paninis that I've taken to spending my lunch breaks roaming the streets and alleys just praying to come across something different...substantial....delicious, and worth the price. Yesterday I stumbled upon the recently opened Holy Cow. Today, I ate there. Life is different for me now. For a total of €10 at Holy Cow I received a better hamburger, better fries, and a bigger drink than I did at another (no-to-be-named) burger establishment where I recently spent €20 for an extremely unsatisfying meal (mediocre burger, mediocre fries, and less than a can's worth of soda). Honestly there's nothing like HC in Lille. It's gourmet burgers at slightly-above fast food prices in an atmosphere that falls somewhere between. For me, it's what I've been looking for in quick-dining all these years. I'm over the moon that finally I'll be returning to work after break with a smile on my face instead of a grimace. All we need now is a decent quick-serve Tex-Mex place and I won't be missing America quite as much.

Great balance between the steak (which was a little bit too cooked for me), goat cheese / honey and the salsa sauce. The only regret is that there's hot chili announced and it's not hot at all. The fries are very tasty too. There are fountain drinks for those who want syrup water. I'll go back to taste an another one (probably the Mexican one).
