I love the Falls Theater it is by far my favorite place to watch a movie in the entire world. Since I am such a cheap skate I love the fact that my wife and I can go to a movie both get pop, popcorn, and some candy and still leave with change!!!!!! If we go to Hudson just 1 ticket is $10.00!! For a while it was starting to get run down and show it's 84 year age, but the new second generation owner spent some money and really fixed the place up. If you live within 30 miles of River Falls you have to go to this theater to see a movie. It will delight your pocket book and give you a glimpse how movies were shown 50 years ago.

Super nice staff, cheap tickets for a good movie, comfortable and safe area. The only place I go to see movies.

I would suggest having alternative choices in mind as there is no signage indicating what the Stardust Drive In Theater may be out of at any given time. Food: I originally ordered a Corn dog (not available) so I settled on a cheese burger along with an order of nachos with/cheese & side of jalapeños for and my husband ordered the "Date Night Special" which includes a large popcorn, box or bag of candy and two medium fountain sodas, one of which I had. We also ordered ice cream at intermission and one ice cream flavor we wanted they were out of so we tried to order an ice cream bar as a substitute and they were out of that as well. Back to the first concession round - The nacho cheese? Nope, never again, no thank you. Some folks may like it but I thought it was terrible and therefore after one bite of the nachos and then the burger, I threw both directly in the garbage. The cheese burger has a thick coat of the same yucky nacho cheese and the burger itself had zero flavor. The popcorn was buttery and hot so that was enjoyable but my husband wasn't too happy that he had to share his popcorn after my dinner went into the garbage. I returned to the concession stand a bit later and I tried to order chicken tenders but they were out of those as well so then I ordered the cheese curds which thankfully did not disappoint. Not sure which items our three teens ordered as they were seated on the lounge chairs several rows away from us but I do know they spent the $50 we gave them and then came back at intermission for another $20 for ice cream. The pricing on most items is fairly reasonable but mamy items definitely appear to be overpriced, even for a concession stand, imo. Cans of beer & wine are also available for purchase at a separate window. Service: Every team member was super friendly but the one gentleman walking around patrolling the grounds sounded loud and rude when speaking to guests a couple of cars over. From what we saw and overhead (the employee flailing his arms and pointing at the guest) we felt the employee made a huge scene because a guest had brought in a personal can of soda. We could not hear the other guest speaking at all but the employee we could hear clearly, again, we were two cars over. Location & Grounds: A long drive from anywhere if you don't live in the area (about an hour away for us) but for an occasional family outing or date night I would say it's probably worth the trip. There are several picnic tables located at ground level and although we did not go up, there was also an elevated level with additional seating that is accessible only by a long flight of stairs. The grounds are very well lit so which is normally welcomed if stumbling around the northwoods, but because it was so well lit I feel that did interfere with the picture quality and vibrancy. Your littles will enjoy all of the playground equipment and fun things to do while there - many different themed stations scattered throughout the grounds and the Stardust Drive In also offers several family friendly themed events throughout the season so check their website or Facebook pages in advance if you decide to take the drive. Parking was difficult for us as we have an F250 Super Duty and they have limited spots for oversized vehicles, but as with the drive in when we arrived, the drive out after the show was efficient and all other drivers were courteous while merging for departure. This is a long winded review because we wanted to LOVE the Stardust Drive In Theater on our very first visit but I have to be honest, I was disappointed. Because of the many menu challenges, and most importantly because of the employee hollering at a guest in such a disrespectful manner that other guests not involved were torn from their movie going experience, and that the guest who brought in the soda did not seem to be pushing back in the least, I can only give two stars at this time. My husband and I will go back up there this summer and give it one more try, but we've decided that when we do we will take that $125 we spent on concessions and have a nice dinner and cocktails at a local Chetek restaurant beforehand, park in a less well lit area, order the popcorn and sodas to munch on during the first movie, and then hope to maybe try and order a sweet treat at intermission. *This review is from a visit in October, 2022; Minions: The Rise of Gru and Top Gun: Maverick*

Received a gift card to Alamo, so we went out of our way to check this theater concept out!…read more Large parking lot available onsite. I appreciate that is is a fairly minimalistic space: small lobby to check in and head right to your seats, retro movie decor gets you excited for the movie experience, and comfy chairs in the theater itself. With each seat pairing sharing a table, you use a QR code to order snacks, drinks, or even a meal! The incredibly friendly and top notch staff deliver your order directly to your seat. This was the best part for sure! We lucked out and had a fairly empty theater so it was easy to navigate and the phone refill ordering didn't distract me during the movie! The movie itself had great graphics and sound! I appreciated that there wasn't a ton of previews compared to other chains. Now, this isn't a criticism of the theater itself, but of the concept. I have two major issues with the concept that would make me less likely to go back. The first is that if you order a sandwich or other meal, the darkness makes it incredibly difficult to eat cleanly. I definitely finished the movie with some sauce on my shirt ;) Secondly, the tables are shared by pairs of seats, so if you are alone or have an odd number in your group, someone might have to share a table with a stranger, which feels a bit odd and uncomfy to me. I wish there was a way for each seat to have an individual table. Overall, a really solid experience and unique concept! I'd check it out for yourself and see how you feel!

My friends and I stopped by to watch The Odyssey (fantastic movie) during a 2:00 PM Sunday showing…read more A few visits ago, I would have given the Alamo Drafthouse an easy 5 out of 5 stars. Overall, it is still a great movie theater, and if you do not want to read the rest of my review, I absolutely recommend trying it at least once. Let's start with the mostly positive aspects. We ordered the new Jumbo Mozzarella Sticks. I really liked them. My wife thought they were average, but I think they are a big improvement over the old mozzarella sticks, and I would order them again. My biggest issue is that, for $13 plus tax, you only get five, and "jumbo" is not the right word. They are only slightly larger than an average mozzarella stick. At that price, at least include eight. I also love the atmosphere and ambience. Whether you are walking through the hallways or entering the theater, it just feels comfortable. I am not sure what they have done, but it just feels good! The projectors continue to impress me. They seem brighter, sharper, and more detailed than those at any other movie theater I have visited. Absolutely fantastic. The staff is also consistently excellent. Everyone has always been incredibly kind, and I have never really had an issue with customer service. I have also enjoyed their Loaded Fries with Queso and several milkshakes, although I miss some of the flavors they removed from the menu. Now for the negatives and why this is no longer a 5-star experience. First, the seats do not recline far enough. I am 6 feet tall, and I always wish they reclined a little farther. I feel like I am sitting closer to a 90-degree angle than I would prefer. Next, I understand that we went to "The Big Show" for a major movie release, but our entire group complained about the volume. It was far too loud, to the point that it hurt my ears during several scenes and I had to cover them. Even lowering it by 10% may have made the loud scenes more comfortable while leaving the quieter scenes perfectly audible. During this visit, I ordered one of their newer pizzas, the BBQ Chicken Pizza. I immediately regretted it. Friends and family have warned me that pizza is one of the weaker menu items. Unfortunately, they were right. The pizza was not good, and I would never order it again. My biggest complaint was how sweet it was. I do not know if they use too much BBQ sauce or an extremely sweet sauce, but it overpowered everything else. On top of that, the pizza was incredibly salty. It almost reminded me of eating popcorn. We did not get popcorn during this visit, so I know it was not coming from that. The cost? $20.40 with "extra ranch drizzle" added on. Yikes. I also have mixed feelings about the new mobile ordering system. I can see the pros and cons, and this was our first time using it, so maybe it will become easier with repeated use. That said, if I could wave a magic wand and go back to the old pen-and-paper system, I probably would. Everyone else in my group felt the same way. The biggest advantage is not having to wait for the check at the end of the movie. That part was genuinely nice. However, it feels strange to pull out my phone during a movie just to order food or request a refill. The Alamo built its reputation on minimizing distractions and discouraging phone use, yet customers now have to use their phones to order. That feels backwards. Also, connect to their unsecured Wi-Fi or you may have trouble using the ordering system. As someone who works in IT, entering my credit card information over an unsecured Wi-Fi network made me uncomfortable. The payment process needs work too. Manually entering my entire credit card number while sitting in the theater was frustrating. Apple Pay, Google Pay, or the ability to securely save a payment method to an Alamo account would make the experience much smoother. I considered giving this theater 3 stars, but that felt too harsh because I still genuinely enjoy coming here. I have had much better food in the past, and I still think this is one of the better movie theater experiences around. I will be back, but this is not going to be our go-to theater. They charge premium prices for the food, but you are not always getting a premium product. Fortunately, the ticket prices seem to be on par with other theaters. It feels like things have slipped over the past few years. The food is much more hit-or-miss than it used to be, and I am not convinced the mobile ordering system is an improvement. My advice: skip the pizza. The food here is either fantastic or disappointing. There does not seem to be much middle ground. Overall, I still recommend the Alamo Drafthouse, and I will absolutely be back. I just hope these recent changes improve because this used to be an easy 5-star theater for me.

God, I REALLY wanted to like this place…read more.. The new trend of nostalgia that seems to have everything classic American coming back in to vogue, Champions Drive-In has totally messed the whole thing up. This is the first Drive-In that I have ever been to that does not allow outside food, water, juice or soda to be brought in. There is actually a car search and seizure policy that they have in place. To put this into perspective, the police and even the border control can not search your car and seize anything they feel they should take without probable cause. But, don't let basic adherence to the time-honored traditions of the classic Drive-In to stand in the way of rampant greed and a clear power trip by the owner of the Drive-In. Instead of bringing your own snacks in and complimenting them with a big fresh popcorn, something hot (like a hot dog) and something cold like an ice cream treat from the snack bar, Champions will only allow you to select from the unhealthy items from the menu (burgers, fries, hot dogs). So, if you have someone in your group like we did (1 person diabetic, one person allergic to gluten and one disabled with Cerebral Palsy and unable to simply eat something from a snack bar) that has a dietary need or if you want to supplement your junk food cravings with something healthy - Champions will not allow it. This was the first of many blunders... Blunder #2 is - simply put - their rules. You can't sit outside your car in a chair, you can't play catch with your kids (in fact, the rules threaten prosecution in that circumstance), you can not turn your dome light on to find your child's pacifier (you will be kicked out)... basically these are the "Drive-In Nazis". Don't believe me? Here are their rules: http://www.elkospeedway.com/rules-and-policies/ This Drive-In is attempting to compete with our only other metro Frive-In the Vali-Hi Drive-In. To contrast the Vali-Hi with Champions - Admission is cheaper at the Vali-Hi, the Vali-Hi allows in outside food, the Vali-Hi allows in outside beverage, the Vali-Hi charges $1.00 for a hot dog while Champions charges $3.50, the Vali-Hi shows 3 movies while Champions shows 2, the Vali-Hi allows grilling (though this is not a feature that I take advantage of or care much about but it is worth a mention) while Champions does not, you can throw a frisbee or a ball at the Vali-Hi while at Champions they threaten prosecution for it and at the Vali-Hi you can sit outside in a chair while the kids lay on the roof or look out the back of a mini-van, truck or suv while at Champions you can't. BUT, at Champions you get to sit in the car with the dome lights off the entire time, your radio playing the audio quietly enough that you don't bother the car next to you (so I assume windows rolled up then) and you get to stand in a long line for junk food while at the Vali-Hi they.... wait, all those things suck! In summary, this new Champions Drive-In has MAJOR changes to do and QUICK or they will be a one-shot try for people on the road back to the Vali-Hi. At this point, I would say Champions Drive-In is Terrible and something you should save your money and avoid.
