We saw every room on the first two floors and were barely there an hour. A lot of their original pieces have been removed for a special exhibit at Rosecliff but replicas were in place where needed. They spent time addressing the history of both the enslaved people associated with the house as well as some of how indigenous people were exploited in the triangle trade. But it was kind of generic. Would have been nice to tie more specific to the house. Some nice details of furniture were given with an example of the chippendale furniture catalog matching an example. Probably got closer to items here than the other houses so a little more intimate.

Fourth, game nignts. Play Jack Box games or board games or cards with others. Bring your own or use theirs. Fifth, evening speaker events. Local authors, historians and experts in a number of fields. All for free. Sixth, walking group. Once a week meet up with others and take a stroll along the bike path. Meet new neighbors, enjoy fresh morning air, move your body. This is a gentle stroll. No power walkers in this group so get out and socialize a bit. Seven, passes. Libraries help you save money by offering discounted or free passes to things you want to do. Eight food pantry. This is a small selection provided by library patrons. When clearing out grandma's home, don't throw those canned goods away, donate them to the library like we did. Be a hero, donate to your community, or if you are in need, just ask. Nine, shop. This library has a small shop of items for sale that support library services. My friend and I came about 3 hours before closing, and left about 2 hours later. There was not much on the first floor (besides the cutest little shopping cart for kids and the bathroom) so we went upstairs. The employee there was really helpful and told us a little bit more about the library since it was our first time. We noticed they had little Knick knacks they were selling from a club they have so I got something as a memory. In addition, they had a map where you can color in countries you've been to - they change up this activity every month. We sat in a sound proof little booth, where you can adjust the lighting. As we were leaving, the employee showed us their craft room and they have lots of materials and machines so if you've ever feeling creative but don't have the resources definitely check them out. They have lots of parking and a good selection of books.

There's a decent sized public parking lot and some fun animal artwork on the fence outside. As another reviewer mentioned, the domed ceiling decoration above the circulation desk as soon as you walk in is gorgeous! I had to stand there for a moment and admire it. I was able to quickly grab a couple books that were on shelves here but not at bigger libraries according to the online catalog. This could be a good strategy for more popular books if you're a big reader! It seems there aren't as many books here as some other libraries, so it's easy to quickly find what you want. It's an older building that seems a little dark inside. I appreciate that they indicate which books are part of a series with a spine sticker, since other libraries typically only call out the genre on these. One book I checked out seemed a little worn, but another was crispy and brand new! This is a convenient option. I just noticed their weekend hours are pretty brief, so this will be better as a weeknight option for me.

Although I live very close to this library, I always went to the Pawtucket Public Library, so I never got a chance until now to go in. I loved the ceiling in the checkout area when you first walk in. There are a couple tables and more comfortable seats to do homework, read books, or hang out. One thing I was impressed by was the printing costs. The first 10 pages for black and white are free, and the first five in color are free. Thereafter, its $0.15 and $0.25 respectively which is not bad. I am used to paying a little more at the Pawtucket Library starting with page one. The back part of the library could use a little more lighting but on sunny days, there is enough clarity to get by. They do have some activities for kids and a little section dedicated to them. There is a parking lot, enough for about 10 cars and I liked the art on the wooden fence in the parking lot.

The house is very minimalistic in its contents, but the main focus is the architecture. Free parking is available at the park next to the house. There is one bathroom available for use.

Today, Historic New England, the group that manages and maintains Arnold House, offered free tours…read moreof all their properties. I had visited Arnold House back in 2021 but the interior was closed. Today, I got a great tour of the inside. The family that originally built and lived in the house in the late 17th and early 18th century had 10 children and lived in the space of one large living/ great room, one kitchen, one huge bedroom for the entire family on the second floor and a spacious attic for storage and maybe also a few kids. The docents here were extremely knowledgeable about the site and friendly, encouraging questions and photos. There are also beautiful, short trails around the property as well as a small picnic area near the parking area.

Since I bought a weekend pass and was going to take advantage of that, I came on a Saturday and Sunday. One good feature is there was a lot of parking on the road it's on. It's not walkable from the museum/village, but it is walkable for the Mayflower II so if you'd like to see that, parking near the mill is great since no meters and a lot of parking both times I went. It's also right near a lot of shops/restaurants, so if it's a stop along your path, you can find other things to do in the area. Only one of the days at one time (Saturday around 2 pm) was the mill actually going for a demonstration, so aim for this. Any other time they might talk about how the mill works, but that's not as exciting, so check the say schedule. Not that grinding corn is super engaging, but it's interesting to see how the large stones and wheel combo going. Downstairs, you could see where the ground corn came out with another worker describing the process. On Sunday, the wheel wasn't going at all, but downstairs they had a small demo about how a recipe using the ground corn was traditionally made, and they sell what they make in the gift store. It probably will take 30 minutes to an hour of your time depending on what time you come. If you bought the combination pass, it's a nice addition, but it's not worth it for just this on its own.

Rhode Island has a whole lot of old cemeteries. That's because instead of moving and consolidating…read morethe small graveyards into the larger ones like most states did, Rhode Island let the family and small town cemeteries stay where they are. Even made them into historical sites. So these old graveyards are everywhere in the Rhode Island. People that live here get use to them but when someone visits from another area they frequently notice the small graveyards that seem to located in strange or unlikely places. Some are in parking lots, behind stores and houses and there is even a tiny and very old graveyard right near the runway approach at the International airport. This historical cemetery is located sort of behind the Smithfield Town Hall and seems to be a family graveyard. I saw a lot of the names Loomis and Lomas on the stones. Most of the graves are from the mid 1800s, not particular old, but some do have interesting, it worn designs. The entire graveyard is surrounded by a cool, old fence. Not a large graveyard and certainly not an very old one. However it is historical and deserves to be remembered.

They're saying that they made a mistake and miss calculated my earnings and accidentally overpaid me around $300 a month in cash assistance and that I should have only qualified for $12 a month. I brought them all the paperwork they needed and updated them on my job and my hours and they have consistently screwed me over. why would I go through the trouble of signing up for cash assistance and food stamps if I was only going to be getting 12 dollars a month. also every time I go there I have to wait in line for three or four hours sometimes with my young son and it can get very exhausting and frustrating and you don't even end up getting the help you need. I am a single mom.I am working as hard as I can to provide for my son.they wrote in the letter that it was their fault. that they miscalculated it and overpaid me. anybody have any suggestions on what I should do,I really do not have the money to pay that back and if I did not have that $300 a month I wouldn't have made it through the winter.

Installed in 1995, It is a simple monument that depicts a single kneeling soldier, looking down while clutching his rifle quite intensely. The memorial was designed to represent the spirit of service, the willingness to sacrifice and the dedication to the cause of freedom that characterized all of the participants. Some 3900 Rhode Islanders served during the conflict. The white bricks in the Memorial Walkway are engraved with the names of the 145 Rhode Islanders who were killed in action and the 55 Rhode Islanders still listed as missing in action.
