The mural is a bit difficult to see in whole since the alley is not very wide and so it is hard to get the large mural to fit into your camera screen. But traffic is minimal, so if you find a place to park at the shopping center across 10th, it is just a short walk to this alley which is the road that has the liquor store on the corner. The mural is about a block to the east of the liquor store on the opposite side of the alley. Most notable for me was the horse head that is associated with most carousels. This mural is not a traditional mural. It is made of 53 individual panels and not painted directly…read moreon them. It is the work of Will Watson, who based the image off of the nearby Fall Creek. Watson's original print was scanned at high resolution and the turned into a series of adhesive vinyl sheets that were attached to the 53 custom-made aluminum panels. The mural feature a blue heron frolicking in the lake, along with a lady bug, jumping fish, butterfly and native lake vegetation. It was partially funded by a grant from Reconnecting To Our Waterways. I find this mural interesting, but boring, if that makes sense. It attracts your attention because of the colors and it being on panels, but does not keep it. The colorful mural is 28 feet tall and 40 feet high. It is prominently placed on the side of the Overlook at the Fairgrounds, an apartment complex. It was installed in 2016 and is a great addition to the building. The building is one block away from the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The location listed on Yelp is incorrect and will take you to the Fairgrounds. There is free street parking available and a private lot across the street that I pulled into to get a closer look of the mural. So, parking here is not difficult. As with most murals that I have reviewed, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other wonderful murals in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip.

It shows images of wildlife that can be found along the adjacent Fall Creek River. The 40' x 28' mural was made from vinyl images applied to aluminum squares and attached to the upper floors of the building. As others have mentioned I really like the 3D aspect, but it needs to been renovated soon before it hits the point of no return. The mural is the work of Jon Blice and Christopher Edwards, artistically known as Blice Edwards. They painted the piece in 2011. The mural is pretty busy and depicts a blooming flower with a lot of imagery that symbolizes the city's history such as "34" which represents 1834, the year Westfield was founded, the North Star which represents the underground railroad which went through the city, a shamrock, representing Westfield High School's mascot and "31" and "32", which represent the convergence of these two highways known as the "Grand Junction." There is a lot going on here and without context or very intimate knowledge of the city it is just a lot of stuff. The fading and deterioration just compounds the issue. I love the work of Blice Edwards as a whole, but I am really not too fond of this one. If you would like to get a closer look of this mural, there is street parking available in a reasonable walking distance and there are a few lots that you can park in as well. I recommend parking across the street to give you the best view because the mural is so large. As with most murals that I have visited and reviewed, this is not a long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. So, you may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip such as the huge Pirate Cove mural down the street.

They painted the mural in 2019. It depicts a small assortment of flowers, featuring a Marigold, hence the name along with a butterfly and a bee. They are set upon a twisted colorful ribbon and a colorful background of mostly yellows and greens. You really need to check out the murals shading while you are visiting. It is amazing. The detail on the mural is awesome. Blice Edwads are very talented and have some really nice pieces across the city. This mural was a nice addition to the area and adds a bit of color. Being that it is in a parking lot, so of it may be obstructed by parked vehicles, but you should still be able to get a good look. Parking to get out and take a closer look at this mural is not an issue. since it over looks a parking lot, be it a private one. But I am sure you will not be there long anyway. Together since 1993,…read morethis partnership between Chris Blice and Jon Edwards has been adding beautiful artwork (primarily paintings) to the area based out of their small studio near 54th Street. This mural "Marigold" was added in 2019 just a short distance north of the studio. There is a shop off Cornell that is called Marigold Clothing which has a small parking lot to the west of the shop. A large wall of Broad Ripple Brewpub is adjacent to the south side of the lot. It is this wall that the team has added giant marigold flowers along with a butterfly and honey bee. A large slightly twisted ribbon arcs across the background of the mural adding a rainbow of color to the wall. All visitors to the shop who park in the lot (rather than street park) will be able to see this unobstructed artwork. For fans of this art, know that you can find other pieces by the duo around town, including up in Westfield (although the piece was a sculpture that is being moved for construction). Down on East Michigan near Mass Ave, a three story image of James Whitcomb Riley was painted. A giant pegboard mural featuring lots of tools is painted at the former Angie's List campus. And all around their studio, including the Posh Petals Floral shop and the patio "Butterflies" of Gallery Pastry Shop, are featured more of the team's work. Review #3328

The mural depicts about 30 individual scenes including some popular Indianapolis landmarks like the Indianapolis Zoo, the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, the State Fair, and the city's south side. There is also murals of dolphins, a dinosaur, and football. It was a painted by volunteers from Lily, most of which had little or no formal art experience. It was a paint by number type of thing. It is eye catching and very colorful. The wall that the mural is painted on has lots of pitting and the mural is not in the best area. There is also a lot of litter along the road the mural is on. Surprisingly, it has not been the victim of any graffiti attacks, as far as I know. The mural is near other nice murals and graffiti This is a mural that is difficult to get a good look at. There is really no parking nearby and it is located off of a very busy street.I recommend doing a safe and strategic slow rolling drive by on this one. That is one of the few times that I would recommend that. Lily has done some great volunteer work around the city through the years and this is no exception.

Individual color blocked panels show activities and fun places to go in Indianapolis. The mural reaches 1230 feet (just under a quarter of a mile!) In addition to the long mural, there is another mural farther north that has a music theme painted on a blue background. Across Madison Avenue on the west retaining wall (near Pleasant Run Pkwy) along the baseball diamond for Manual HS is another mural. There is even a mark on the sidewalk to tell you where to stand to take your selfie. This is one of several selfie spots that I saw in the area. I used to call the area downtown Carmel, but the City has rebranded as "Midtown" and Midtown Plaza. The colorful mural was the brainchild of Wilkinson Brothers Design and was unveiled in March 2021.

The card is against a colorful cityscape background cutout with other cityscape silhouettes on it. You will also see stamps of local attractions around the area on the mural including Hotel Carmichael and the Palladium. It is a gorgeous mural that is Instagram ready. The city intends it to be an interactive piece that affords visitors the opportunity to take a selfie. To make sure that visitors get the best possible selfie, there is a decal that tells you where to stand. It is located just outside Java House Coffee Bar and Penn & Beech Candle Co. I love interactive art. This mural is no exception. I was excited about seeing it and I am sure it will be a popular attraction in the area. I will say that it is off of a somewhat busy street, so use caution when approaching. There is free street parking and a garage available to park within a very short walk. I know that this is probably not going to be a long stop, but I still recommend checking it out. You may want to consider planning out additional stops at many of the other attractions in the area, or making this stop part of a larger itinerary to maximize your time and trip such as the Monon Trail or the Sails sculpture that is right down the street.

I pass this mural all the time. I order from ClusterTruck on occasion when I am in a mood to…read moresplurge. They do have some good food, but after all the fees are added on, it a bit pricey. This mural is the work of Pamela Bliss, a talented local artist that has tons of murals all over the city. I really like her works. She brought to life a design made by Phanomen Design. The mural is on the side of the ClusterTruck building that overlooks their parking lot, which is usually full of cars waiting to pick up peoples orders. There are a few places to park near the mural. You could park in the lot, but I would not recommend it because it is so busy. There is metered street parking nearby and a few spots outside of the parking lot to park, jump out real quick and take a closer look. That is what I did. The mural is 3D and depicts the ClusterTruck logo being shot in the air like the bat signal upon a background of cinderblocks that look as if they have fallen down or not been completed. behind the cinderblocks, in the spots that they are missing, cityscape are peaking through. In the cityscape's sky, you will see some abstract winged trucks of different colors, dropping what looks like abstract food with a parachute. I like this mural. It and its 3D effect works for me. It is very detailed and an excellent marketing display for ClusterTruck. As with most murals I have visited and reviewed, this is not a very long stop. I was there less than 3 minutes. You may want to consider planning out additional stops or making it part of a larger itinerary, to maximize your time and trip. There are many marvelous downtown attraction that you can put together to form a nice itinerary.
