I am a 25 year journeyman level carpenter that subcontracted a job to him because i was too busy to get to it. The finish level was appalling. Bid the job at 4 days and took 7 and didnt even finish as i had to pull him off before it got worse. Doorway was a 1/2" out of level. Door casing looked like it was installed with a sledge hammer and the reveals were wayyyyy off. Screwed sheetrock to a brand new cabinet side which had screws blistering the inside of the cabinet. Skip trowel that 40 grit sand paper couldn't fix. Just plain terrible. You get what you pay for in this industry. He claims to be a 38/hr carpenter and at that rate should be flawless. Hes a 15/hr laborer at best. Very very disaplointed.

They kept the work areas tidy throughout the job and cleaned up completely after the work was done. From start to finish, the quality of work and attention to detail was exceptional. Jose is the owner of JDH Painting and lead painter. He completed the estimate quickly, we found it reasonable, and final cost was as agreed. The work took a week and a half to complete, with prep taking up two-thirds of the time (always a good sign!). Jose and team worked cleanly, efficiently and tirelessly, taking care to protect our landscaping. After power washing, they did a substantial amount of sanding and caulking of our shingles and trim, way beyond what we expected, and repaired wood rot as needed. They primered all necessary surfaces with two hand applied coats, then sprayed and rollered on two coats of paint on all trim and exterior areas. They even dug a shallow trench around the soil edged part of the foundation to make sure the finished paint job extended cleanly to the ground. We have old-fashioned windows, and Jose's team made sure each one open and closed correctly after being painted. During the job, if we noticed anything that needed attention, Jose immediately addressed it and made sure we were completely satisfied.The finished house looks outstanding and certainly reflects their pride of workmanship. We are very satisfied customers and highly recommend JDH Painting. They also do interior painting, tiling, fence and stone work.

He made the job seem easy, even though it was a pretty big remodel with very detailed plans. I had a horrible experience with Jarek and Jim. Not only did they misrepresent their work history,…read morethey also told us a series of lies throughout the project. First, he used his father's customers as his references. He does not have employees in his business; instead he uses tradespeople who come ins and out. For example, he told us he had painters on payroll, the carpenter did the painting. He did not oversee the contractors whom he hired; when their work was subpar, I had to speak with the contractor (e.g. flooring installers) to demand that they live up to contracted services. A 3-month delay in the project he attributed to the city's permitting process. When I contacted the city directly, it turns out the delay was a couple weeks. He hadn't submitted the proper paperwork and they were waiting on him. All the work was done by 2 contractors, not the 'staff' of painters, electricians, and carpenters he claimed were on his payroll, but were hired for the project. He is basically charging a 30% markup to find contractors for you, but not managing their work. We did not let him finish the job to avoid more subpar work. His team incorrectly installed some of the trim, which cost me $$$ to have redone.

Instead Mark came over himself and did the work and refused to take any money for it. I think that what Mark did speaks highly of the company and am writing this review. I am again stating that Mark never asked for reimbursement for what he did and refused any which I offered twice.
