She was incredibly understanding and sympathetic and made me feel a lot less crazy than I felt. My mom had just moved to Chicago and didn't have a primary care doctor but was exhibiting some erratic behavior and was having trouble with her memory. I brought my mother in to see Dr. Cudahy, who concluded that she was likely experiencing the beginning stages of Alzheimer's. Dr. C referred us to the neurologists at Northwestern - telling us that she believed in sending patients to the best resources in the city - she rattled off the resources that exist for cancer patients and heart problems and promised me that Northwestern was the place for Alzheimer's care. Later, my mother had a herniated disk. After initially taking her to an emergency room in the western suburbs, I called Dr. C and she walked me through getting my mom into Masonic so that she could personally check up on her. Since then, we both have annual check-ups with Dr. Cudahy and both my mother and I are huge fans. My mom gets excited about her doctor's appointments, and I'm just relieved to be going to someone who I trust so much. (During the midstages of her Alzheimer's my mom would talk incessantly about "Hootahay" - her version of Dr. Cudahay.) Not to mention she's insanely smart, down to earth, and a wonderful (and empathetic) human being. WE LOVE HER!!!

Her location in East Lakeview is great, such that in the event that I need to hobble to the doctor from my house on a sick day, I can do so without significant effort. The facility is nice, and is associated with a highly ranked hospital, and her office is one door down from the lab facility. Even better, Dr. Cudahy is an internist, which therefore means I don't need to go to an additional lady doctor, which is great since I'm not having a baby anytime soon and really don't need an OB. She is comfortably chatty, and was interested in both my medical history and my personal history/mental health, and made me feel quite relaxed and trusting. What I found important was that she was non-judgmental - I hate having to brace myself for a reprimand when you're answering such questions as "how much do you drink on a given night" and "are you sexually active," but she was very open and understanding. Oh! Lastly, Illinois Masonic has a pretty good website, so you can see her profile online, as well as book your appointment through a web app. The people in their scheduling department were also quite kind and accommodating, and were able to get me an appointment post-working hours!

She gave me her cell phone number for emergencies when I was at my sickest and did not bat an eye when I called at 3:00 am Thanksgiving for help (she was not on call). Regina is compassionate, hardworking and gets to know you first to make sure you are comfortable with her and the practice.She needs to know you and your needs to make sure that the course of treatment fits in with your personality, diagnosis and lifestyle. You are not just a medical file and diagnosis, you are a person first, then a patient. I am in remission and she and the chemo nurses made this possible. When I worked at a company with very iffy medical coverage, she knew I was outlaying more than I was making. She went to her partners and the insurance administrator and worked out an arrangement beneficial to me (and I'm sure to her detriment). Thankfully, I have much better insurance coverage now. Also, the health insurance administrator suggested we work together to see if I would be eligible for grants from the drug companies and other cancer charities and foundations if I had trouble meeting the deductible portion. There is a lot of help out there, you just need to be willing to do the paperwork. Regina's called me at odd hours when I have a question- you just need to be patient because she has hospital visits to make, patient appointments. transcription and return calls to make.She is also entitled to a personal life, but I swear I don't know where she finds the time. But she does call me back and I don't care if it's 9 at nite- she called because she knew I was worried. I thank God that I could find a doctor that not only put me into remission (knock on wood) me, but cared about me as a human being.

The general office staff is mildly courteous; however, Dr. Capone is completely burnt out! She did not explain any procedures to me, and was utterly condescending. Then, they had the nerve to schedule appointments I never made, nor wanted; not once, but on two occasions, with the last accompanied by a cancellation fee. Also, when confirming my initial appointment, the staff never informed me that I would have to park in a parking garage. I arrived almost 45 mins early to my appointment, and was still a few minutes late because I was trying to find the correct building. A little bit of customer service goes a long way. She was highly unprofessional, making several inappropriate comments to me, violated HIPPA laws by discussing my medical care with people who she was not authorized to speak with--on multiple occasions, even after I asked her not to, constantly interrupted me when I was trying to answer questions she asked me and would change the subject when I would ask her questions about my care (so she wouldnt answer the questions). After leaving her office after my first appointment, having spent $1,200 out of pocket, I hoped maybe it was just a bad day, but it wasn't and the issues only progressed with my next few visits. I had an issue with a prescribed medication and it took her three weeks to call me back, leaving me in the lurch and having to have my primary care dr step in and manage my care until I finally heard back from her. I think she has a lot of great knowledge but has a bit of an ego that doesn't allow her to properly care for her patients which is a shame, especially after paying so much.

A few weeks ago I had gone in there knowing i made an appointment to get my flu shot. I called on 10/27/14 recorded I called on my phone that I called the office to make an appointment only to get a flu shot. I show up 11/07/14 on time and the front desk lady tells me she doesn't have my down on the schedule I was so upset. However, the nurse who takes my blood for me saw me in the waiting room asked why I was there. I told her she said nobody told her i was waiting for just the flu shot. She apologized and gave me the flu shot pretty fast. I felt happier but still it made my husband want to change Doctors because of it. The whole family was with me that day. We waited entire 30 minutes for me to get a flu shot, crazy day.

Dr Robert is so great. So many doctors I have seen in the past treat the disease, chastise the patient, and get little result. Dr Robert treats the whole person. AMAZING. The lab is in his office. Everything is done right away. He personally writes follow-up notes a week or two after your visit. WHO DOES THIS ANYMORE??? Amazing. His Diabetes Educator/Nutritionist/GURU Monica is the best. I love her and would follow her anywhere. She is direct, honest, and insighful. I give it a 4 because the front desk people can be rough. This is what a doctor is supposed to be like. He wanted to know how I lived and all about me to make me feel comfortable but also so he could provide better treatment. I've never had any other doctor make me feel so comfortable. After my first appointment I gave him a big hug which might seem a little odd but every time I've seen him since then I do the same thing. I went to the pharmacy for my prescription when I noticed no prescription for Antibiotics but I didn't say anything. After a few days I was feeling awful feverish, I was dying! I went to the bathroom and a big gush of blood came out of my behind. I called the Doctor and he said to go to the ER so I went and after, an MRI, they found a big abscess-that had exploded in different directions one was my Vagina! Since then It's been a roller coaster,I've had 6 surgeries and I'm still passing gas through my Vagina. This is a General Surgeon. Please always use a specialist and always get a. Second opinion. I can't have a normal life since that surgery.
