The only complaint I have and it's really not a complaint but to make the course more enjoyable, cut the rough down just a bit to prevent having to look longer for my ball. Other than that, it's a really nice fun course to play.

Backside is not as tight, but rolling hills, keep offering all the challenges any golfer would want. The wind can change this course considerably, the greens are in great shape and fair, minus some sloping from back to front, where a putt past the hole can end up in the fairway. The traps could really use some TLC, as there's hardly any sand in some. This can be typical of public courses in the area. No GPS on the carts, so it's old school 150 and 100 yard stakes. If the price is right, you'll enjoy spending 4 hours fighting the challenges of sunflower hills.

It was remodeled in 2003 and now has Zoysia fairways which is AWESOME! Anytime you can play on Zoysia you have a better lie. You just have to be able to play the fairway ;) The greens range from small to large and the only downside is that late in the summer the greens start to get a little disease and discoloration. Most people repair their divots so you can play a good line to the hole. I would not recommend walking this course on a hot day. 7001 yards is no joke on this course. There are a lot of hills and you will be exhausted by the 12th hole. Other than that, it is a great place to play.

We arrived at the clubhouse, shared his membership info, paid for his round, and were told to head to the first tee and show the steward our receipt. We never got a shot off before we were told repeatedly that my son was not old enough to play the course. My son was devastated and embarrassed. It was about as bad of a first impression as a kid can have for a new sport. Fortunately we were able to get onto another course nearby, which was incredible... they will be getting all of our business from here on out. We will not be returning to St. Andrews even when my son meets their age requirement.

The greens were in excellent condition -- very fast and true. We were also impressed with the golf carts, which were in great shape and came equipped with GPS for added convenience. We were paired with a club member who generously shared local course knowledge, which really helped, especially with the challenging layout. A meandering creek comes into play on many holes and has a knack for swallowing golf balls -- so bring a few extras! Several holes were cart path only, but it was manageable. The drink cart came around frequently, and the staff throughout the facility was friendly and welcoming. One small but appreciated touch: the clubhouse offered complimentary water, ice, and glasses, and there were also water stations out on the course. Overall, a very enjoyable round at a beautiful and well-maintained course. Would absolutely recommend!
