I came here with high confidence thinking I would win in mini-golf against my girlfriend but left with slightly lower confidence after she took home the trophy against me. I was looking for something fun to do and came across the idea of playing mini-golf. I searched online and found this location not too far from home. When my girlfriend and I arrived, you could see people practicing their golf form from outside the establishment. We walked inside and were greeted by the team members. They asked us what we wanted to play to which we replied mini-golf, what difficulty we wanted (easy or hard), and sent us on our way. The course is an 18-hole challenge for some, and a walk in the park for others. With this being my first time, I played well during the first 9 holes, but not as well for the remaining 9 holes. Despite not playing the best, the course was amazing. The holes get more difficult as you proceed, but the creativity scales higher on each one. I had a wonderful time going through all 18 holes! Overall, I had a great time playing mini-golf. It was an amazing experience that I won't forget, and the scenery looks beautiful. I'd recommend anyone who wants to have a great time to come to this establishment! I will definitely be returning to take back the trophy against my girlfriend. read more

Let's start at the beginning. $25.00, no military or senior discounts! Oh, the more difficult course has water and sand traps. Okie dok - water is leftover rainwater and sand traps are brown painted cement. I'm not exaggerating when I say we have played about 125 games of mini golf this summer from CA to MN to here. Unfortunately this place is the worst of all! The course was so beat up. We only made it to the 8th hole where the beginning was all gnarlley and by the time you get to the hole you have passed over 3 different types of indoor/outdoor carpet. So ok let's try their other other course. It was better kept. Either because it's used more often or because it's close to the driving range. Everything was fine, sort of, until we got to hole 5 I think. I looked at the fairway and it must have gone on for 4 miles. That's enough, we're through. Very disappointing. read more

This is a very good golf course to learn the game of golf. The course is short and fun, the driving range and putting greens are fun and enjoyable. They have 2 mini golf courses, one is Halloween themed and one has 18 different real holes from famous golf courses, but miniature. I have never had a bad experience here and I aced one so I've had a very fun experience every time I go there. read more

I thought I'd write an update. The short Par 3 18-hole course is still a lot of fun, especially for beginners and those who can't shoot straight. (GUILTY.) The miniature golf courses are a lot of fun, too. The north side mini course is great for beginners and for younger players. The south side mini course is tougher and more challenging, even for more advanced players. You'll encounter some ramps and obstacles on your way through. Nothing too difficult, but not easy, either. Golf and I have an understanding. Neither of us takes the other seriously, so we get along fine. Smiley's is exactly the kind of place for that relationship, and this business has been there for us many times. Want to work on your swing, working your way through the bag as you go? Grab a bucket of balls and find an opening, either on the turf (with rubber tees) or further down the line off of the natural stuff. A 'super' bucket is like 140 balls and costs you $20, while a 'giant' is something like 75 balls for $10.75. That's a pretty good recreational value, and you can even socially distance while enjoying yourself. Smiley's also has a couple of miniature golf layouts, always a summer evening hit, and a great pitch & putt executive course. Took a spontaneous trip out to Lenexa to play some mini golf. Smiley's never disappoints. It was busy but the staff was on their game. We didn't have to wait at all to start our game. The grounds were clean and well kept. There were new covid protocols in place as well. Despite the covid protocols it didn't hinder our fun. We will certainly return to play again. read more

I have golfed; full course and mini here numerous times. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The golf course can be challenging and is kept in good shape. The mini golf courses could use a little upgrade. The one with the famous golf holes is quite difficult. It was a fun time but the owner/man running the cash register was frankly pretty rude. I had paid with a 100 dollar bill because the total was about 63 dollars or so. Amidst all the chaos afterwards, he failed to give me my change back. When I brought the topic back up because I realized I hadn't gotten it back, he was very argumentative and said I was wrong over and over. Eventually he have me the change back but kept saying "I've been doing this for so long. I'm never wrong." So yes, it was fun but that experience really put a damper on things. read more

We did the "Mini Haunts". There were a few holes that were deceptively challenging. My 6 year old had a blast and made it through 16 of the holes. My only complaint was that we couldn't see any numbers or names on the individual holes and the names on the score card were a bit tricky to match up. We would totally come back! read more

The scary side mini golf. Great for kids learning and for a night out. The course is fun with tricks and holes but not the nicest I've played on. The green were clean of debri but they were older and there were some tears and wear under the characters that made some shots difficult. But again for kids learning this is a great place and no worries about them learning and putting too hard or too easy. This place can get busy but most people just enjoy it so you aren't rushed to finish a hole. You can't beat the price $7 makes for a good outing. You can drive a basket of balls if you prefer and that too is reasonable and makes for a fun date evening. My low rating is only for the age and wear on the courses it is a great place and good friendly service but I want real expectations the mini golf is old and not pretty but worth the trip to play for the fun. read more

The raiser kid course had some scary figures for a more sensitive kid. The course took me and my 4 year old about 30mins to complete. Sorry but they do an awful job keeping customers happy! We came to play the more difficult course around 1pm and they said they were doing maintenance for 2 or 3 hrs... so we played the kids side and were done half way, no fun if you come in to really play. When we asked for a voucher to play the other course later they said we couldn't it HAD to be the same day. No nothing to it.. we will not return and do business with them. Anyhow play with the kids on the kids side and have a good time they will love it! read more

Paid $17 for me and a five year old to play mini golf. Would have rated higher to three stars seeing as 1) It's too expensive for what you get, and 2) the courses are pretty torn up. I dropped it to one star because as soon as we started, a teenager with a gas leaf blower came out and followed us through the entire course making it impossible to talk and reeking of gas fumes. It was a slow Sunday morning, they could have at least waited ten minutes - the course wasn't even covered in leaves or anything. Took an average experience and made it downright bad. read more

My favorite place in Kansas City to play miniature golf. They have 2 -18 hole miniature golf courses. My favorite is the hard side, it is seriously the hardest miniature golf I've ever played. They have a great rate to replay, $2.50, and you can play the other side. The easier side is a traditional putt putt style. We also hit a bucket of balls on the driving range. They have a cool water feature where you can aim at an island green. Will definitely be back.. read more

This review is only for the mini golf portion of Smiley's. Right off the bat you'll notice that both mini golf courses are in pretty rough shape. The fake greens are ripped up and very worn on almost every hole of both 18 hole courses. The spooky side of 18 holes needs new paint on basically every prop they have. Actually looks like they haven't been painted in a few years. The holes themselves are actually very repetitive as far as the layout so it gets boring quick.( hit ball through something in the middle of the path) they do have some seating(benches or chairs) through the course but be careful as one of the benches was rusted through and the back was hanging on by a a prayer! The other course needed a lot of touch ups as well and seemed just as neglected as the other one. Wood stands rotting away, carpet frayed and pieces missing. But the hole layouts are a lot more unique and challenging making it a more interesting task. With all that seems to be in need of fixing you will still have a good time and kids won't really notice the issues. The pricing is near the norm but because of the needed repairs it seems a bit high. read more

This course is a great place to practice and learn new clubs, etc ... There are all levels of player here but I doubt the low handicappers are getting much of a challenge. The course is laid-back and rate of play is fast. I like to carry and usually people complain that it slows them down (it doesn't). I love to get out early and walk a course and Smiley's is perfect for that. read more

I have been coming here forever. I only playing mini-golf so I can't comment on the driving range, but I have a great time playing mini golf. There are two courses and my favorite is the Scary Monster one. Last year for our anniversary we decided to play a couple rounds of mini-golf and ended up taking pictures with all the monsters at every hole. The great thing about this place is everyone is relaxed and easy going. If you are going slower than the ones in front of you most just say play around or offer you to jump in front of them. We are usually slow players because we goof around so much. The staff is great and helpful and like to have fun too. We try to go a couple times a year or more. Both crazy golf courses are in bad shape! $8 + $2.50 to play both courses is a rip off considering the state of turf! From a golfer perspective: this course is kind of like playing golf at your local park. Not really any fairways or well surfaced greens (long cut). But could be a fun family outing or maybe a midday date while getting some outside activity in! Also no golf carts, but they do have pull carts available to rent. read more

Smiley's is a great and cheap way to get away from the stuffy golf courses in KC and spend a slow paced day on the links. Whether your going to drive some balls on the range, play some putt-putt with the fam, or try your own on their par 60, 18 hole course, Smiley's quality and price really can't be beat. I've never had a bad experience here. Staff are always friendly and the grounds are very well maintained. 19 bucks (on a weekend) gets you onto their executive course. Holes here range from really short (throw the ball to the green) to challenging (some blind shots, doglegs, and long drives over water.) A recent trip here also reminded me how challenging the greens are - some unusually sloped pin locations as well as a bugger on # 6 (small V-shaped green with water on your left). 19 bucks shouldn't precipitate a well-maintained course, but it does. This course is a great way to play 18 and not be gone for 4.5 hours. I'm seriously considering their monthly plan too - $50 a month for unlimited range balls, miniature golf rounds, and executive course membership. Only a one year contract. That's a heck of a deal. read more

A top 100 driving range nationally, and personally my favorite range in the metro. Smiley's has got golf down to a fine art. One of the main reasons this place is constantly ranked in the top 100 is the fact that they have great golf balls. Usually ranges sacrifice ball quality for other ameneties, but here, they pull out all of the stops. The synthetic pads here are constantly repalced, and the tee's are in great condition. Due to the sheer size of the range, overcrowding has never been a problem for me, even during the spring, when everyone and their grandma is at the range knocking off the rust on their shots. Grass is very well maintained and they do an incredible job with alternating playing surfaces. I have found that even in the fall the grass is in much better shape than at other driving ranges. As far as the par 3 course, it is one of the better par 3's in the area as well. They do a good job of keeping the tee box in good shape, and the greens are usually very playable. I have had a few experiences where the grass is a little high, however it's always after a rainstorm. And if you have a lawn, you know grass grows fast after it rains. Overall, a wonderful place to go practice, play a par 3 or even learn golf. read more

For 13 years now, this driving range has been one of the best in the country. I whole heartedly agree when you can use the left side of the driving range. It is flat and the yardage is pretty accurate depending on where the tee line is set for the day. You figure to be off by about 10 yards, but as long as you know that, then you can accurately gauge what your driving. However, the right side is not good at all because it is on a decline and no matter how you stand or where you stand you are not teeing the ball up on a level surface. The ball will constantly be below your feet and you will not have a good session. Now if you are a novice player who always plays in the thick cabbage off of the fairway on a slope, then this might be the side for you :p. Just keep in mind that if you try and tee up the ball here, you will slice the ball and/or it will fade because of the decline. There are also a couple of putt/chip greens that you can practice on and they have plenty of space to work things out. As far as the course goes, it is decent. Plenty of par 3s between 60-180 yards. There are a five par 4s, plenty of water hazards and sand traps. It is walk only so bring your cart. Some of the tee boxes have weeds and are not very good, but for the money and practice, i can overlook it. Greens are tiny so precision shots are necessary. This is a great course to practice iron shots or a good beginners course. read more

First time playing here and was super nice value. I was able to walk one as a single and played 2 balls since no one within two holes behind or in front of me. Holes 9 and 18 it's all or nothing, you either clear the water or go swimming. Some of the holes tough to locate but map on scorecard makes it easy. Fairways were pretty soaked but wasn't their fault we had all the rain. Fun time, I'll be back. read more

While we had fun playing mini golf - there was no disclaimer when we started that they do not let you finish playing once the clock hits 9:00. They begin cleaning up at 8:45. It's unprofessional and a bummer. Maybe we would have chosen the easier course if we had known this. It's a shame because the course was fun. This course is perfect to learn how to play on. It's not challenging and if you are an avid golfer it is still a good place to practice your short game. It's also not a hard course to walk. Now you will never see a PGA tour here but this course isn't made for that. This is the perfect "first course" and the driving range is awesome. The mini golf courses are fun too.
