We have used Fairy Godmother three times now, and you wouldn't think a funeral would be the event to need a coordinator. The first two events were joyous (anniversary party and wedding), and with the stress of a funeral it only made sense to use Colleen and her staff. Every aspect of the post funeral reception was well taken care of and this allowed the family to greet friends and not worry about the details. We cannot thank Colleen and Angela enough for the care they gave our family that day!! We will always think of Fairy Godmother to make our celebrations memorable!! read more

We have used Fairy Godmother for all our important events- have lost count at this point. My favorite was my own wedding- the perfect day. Most recently, though, was my dad's surprise 70th birthday! From beginning to end, they knocked it out of the park- in such a way it feels like Colleen, Emily, and the rest of the team have a sixth sense as to what you are wanting! We wanted to do a Steve Martin themed party, and they managed to make it witty, absurd yet CLASSY, fun, yummy and personalized in every way. Impossibly, my dad was truly surprised! And he felt really loved because his favorite stuff was all in one place just for him! Steve Martin, great 70s music provided by a live band, his people, amazing food, a cigar lounge, photobooth with props to capture absurd moments, etc. They manage to KNOW their clients and work closely with them; always gracious and attentive. We love Colleen and the way she runs Fairy Godmother! read more

We have worked with Colleen and the Fairygodmother team for over 8 years and the level of professionalism and kindness is just incredible. As a wedding and event photographer, I can tell you that having Colleen there on your wedding day will be one of the best decisions you make. She is detailed, thoughtful, respectful, helpful, has zero ego, is so kind, and her goal is always to work together as a team with the wedding professional team before and leading up to the wedding and throughout the wedding day. Anything I need her to do to help keep the day running smoothly, she does without a second thought. Working together is a dream and we always love when our clients choose FGM. She is a problem-solver and carries herself in a way that she elevates everyone with her. She is classy and sweet, and is one of the best investments you will make; from designing and planning, to event production - she does it all, and is the best of the best. read more

Fairy Godmother - Wedding Planning Near Me - Bakersfield, California

I had already left a 5 star review for my fairy Sara for everything she did for us pre- postponement. She was amazing and she helped us find a new date ALL our vendors could move to less than 24 hours after our original venue cancelled on us. She went out on maternity leave right after our original date and we were then assigned to Callie. I can't imagine being assigned to an already planned wedding after a postponement, mid-pandemic with a couple you've never met. But Callie did an awesome job catching up on who we were as a couple, our vision and what we did and didn't want. Since our new venue still hadn't opened back up 6 weeks before our new date, we decided to change venues again to our friends' home to ensure we could still have our wedding this time around. That meant re-planning most of the wedding in a few short weeks- and a lot more vendor inquiries and visits for Callie and I. It was a stressful last couple weeks, and an almost hiccup, but Callie and Colleen made sure everything was settled and perfect. Fast forward to our wedding day- it was absolutely perfect and there is nothing I would change. I spent the morning relaxing and getting ready with my girls with not a care in the world because I knew Callie was there to keep us all on track ( and Anne with the guys). Thank you Sara, Callie, Anne and Colleen and all our vendors for making our wedding day so perfect and stress free!!! read more

I will start by saying that I am a very type-A person. I love organization, I admire meticulous work & need things to be executed in a manner that shows no stone gets left unturned. I looked into a few different wedding planners when I first got engaged & interviewed a couple of them. Naturally, I left the best for last - which was, of course, Fairy Godmother. She was the only planner I met with that had her own office space (an adorable one at that) & who had examples galore to show me. The moment she brought out her binder of wedding planning sheets, detailed documents, timelines, & slideshow for design - it was hook, line & sinker for me. We booked her that very next day. I booked her about a year & a half before my wedding & she started the planning process with me right away. She did the most amazing job at making me feel like I was the only bride she had. She always answered my calls, emails, & texts within the day & put any worries I had to rest. Any time we had a touch base call - which was often - she made me feel at ease & reminded me that I was ahead of schedule & to take a minute to breathe. She truly cares about her clients & makes sure everything runs smoothly. She has different packages that can fit anyone's budget from full planning, the month of, day of coordination - or just chat with her & she could work with what your needs are. I chose full planning because we were planning a 250-person wedding. She recommended the most amazing vendors that anyone could choose from & even connected us via text or email. She was the main liaison between us & our vendors to ensure everyone was on the same page; she even made sure she went over any contracts we had to ensure everything booked got executed correctly. During the planning process, she sent me a series of documents to fill out for details of the wedding party, what style I love, & my dream design, she created my budget documents, sent me all the notes she took during every single one of our touch base phone calls & made me think about aspects of the wedding day I would have NEVER thought of myself. As we neared the last 7ish months before the wedding, decided to completely cancel our large wedding, move the date & move the now 30-person intimate wedding to a new city; without so much of a blink of an eye, Colleen said no problem, where are we going & what do you want to do? Things changed again so we decided to keep it in Bakersfield & Colleen, again, went with the flow, not bothered whatsoever. It was truly such a relief to have her helping me every step of the way. Enter other members of her fairy team - like Sara D. - my designer. Immaculate, impeccable, & pristine are the words I would use to describe her & her work. She took my Pinterest board & my vision & completely created a design that was completely outside of my expectations. There was an issue with guests who didn't RSVP who RSVP'd at the last minute & we would have been short chairs - well leave it to the Fairy team to get it taken care of. They have amazing relationships with wedding pros & can get things handled because of how well their team works & the professionalism they bring. While at rehearsal the day before, the grass wasn't cut at the venue. Colleen was able to get it taken care of & the venue was in pristine condition just in time for the wedding. I truly was in awe of their work. Finally, come the day of the wedding. Colleen's setup team arrived along with my designer, Sara & they executed the most amazing ceremony & reception I could have EVER imagined; every detail I wanted was done - every picture I had framed was placed around so beautifully, & every single one of my candles was lit without anyone even noticing when they were lit or by whom, they moved my flowers from the ceremony to the reception & we were kept on time with the timeline of our day. Truly, our day would not have run so smoothly without Colleen & the Fairy Godmother team. If you are debating whether or not you want a wedding planner, book Fairy Godmother, you will NOT regret it. read more

We had a terrible experience with this company and fired them before the wedding. They gave my daughter, the bride to be, endless questionnaires to fill out and took us to a shabby looking business outside of our town for the flowers and rentals. We later heard that Fairy Godmother Events receives kickbacks from certain businesses, If true, it's shameful. I'd have rather paid more and supported a local business. Terrible experience and cannot recommend. read more

If you are planning a wedding do not hesitate To use Fairy Godmother. Our experience from start to finish was amazing. Kate Prosser our planner, was so professional, always responsive to emails and texts. She took care of ALL the details. If we had a question or couldn't get in touch with a vendor she was right there handling things and making the planning as stress-free for us as possible. The week before the event, which was an outdoor backyard wedding, the weather report changed to 55% chance of rain. The day of wedding the rains came and the Fairy Godmother team worked their magic around the rain. Lots of changes had to happen that morning but they pulled off an incredibly beautiful wedding. They worked so hard all day long to make this the wedding my daughter and her husband dreamed about for months. Special thanks to the staff that was there all day setting up and then cleaning up and a particular thanks and shout out to both Colleen and Kate who worked tirelessly the day of the event and made the event so very special. I am very grateful for both of them. What could have been a disaster was an exquisite event and everyone had a great time!! read more

Colleen is a consummate professional and exactly who you want helping you with an important event. Whenever I've needed to hire specialists and professionals in Bakersfield I've been worried--the selection is limited, so often you're "stuck" with what might not pass muster in a major metro. That was in no way the case here: Colleen is exactly the type of event planner I prefer to work with on putting together a major function. But why do I say that? Let me mention some of the areas that impressed: * Organized: When it comes down to it, this is the most important trait of an event planner. She made sure the subs (AV, musicians, linens, florists, etc) did their work as planned from set-up to strike. As a client I did not worry about anything other than paying them (and she handled paying their invoices with transparency). * Connected: I don't live in Bakersfield, so I needed someone who not only knew vendors, but also knew the ones who could deliver on what I wanted. She did, the event was exactly as envisioned without hiccups. This took away a lot of possible stress for me as the client. * Demeanor: Anyone who works in events knows the best stay calm, poised, and positive. They're never frantic. They're always in command, they are always there to support the client and/or principle. It made working with her a pleasure. * Inspired: I came in with ideas, but it was a fairly last-minute event and Colleen came up with options that helped make the event even better. I appreciated she was willing to take risks and give options I might not have considered -- I didn't take them all, but it was nice to have ideas to choose from. For the above points (and I'm sure I'm missing a few more), I recommend Colleen, The Fairy Godmother, without reservation for your most important events. read more

Fairy Godmother is the absolute greatest. We had the honor and privilege of having Colleen and Sara as our fairies AKA our rock stars! Sara, the designer of our wedding, helped bring to life the wedding of my dreams. She is such an amazing artist and turned my basic ideas into masterpieces. She designed every aspect of our wedding perfectly and took every thought I had and made it into art. I am beyond grateful for her craft, skill, and talent! While Sara was the greatest designer I could have possibly met, my husband and I also had the opportunity to work with Colleen. Let me tell you: COLLEEN MADE OUR DAY PERFECT. She was so amazing in every aspect of the planning and day of. She timed our day our perfectly, kept all of our vendors informed, and had an answer for everything. If there was a minor inconvenience or issue, Colleen had already taken care of it before I even knew it was there in the first place! As a bride, I wanted to have the perfect wedding day. I was initially going to wait until my three year wedding anniversary to write this review just to prove to you not only are they incredible event coordinators but they bring great luck to marriages. However, I'm currently reminiscing on my Magical Day and came across some incredible pictures of my Fairy Godmother(s) and I just couldn't help but share this review. When I came across their table at a wedding Expo my first impression was wow these ladies are full of happiness, and great energy. I left wanting to book them immediately. So I called them and made an appointment. I have to admit things were rocky at the beginning, but Colleen immediately handled my issue and matched me with Cassandra. I can write a novel about how amazing Cassandra as my Fairy Godmother but I wont. I will tell you she is amazing at recommending great wedding vendors that will fit your budget. Aside from meeting with me often she had my special day planned out to a T. The day of she met me at the Salon where I was getting my make-up and hair styled and was hard at work ensuring everything ran smoothly. I also had two other wonderful fairies on the day of, Pam and Leticia. while Cassandra focused entirely on me, Pam and Leticia focused on every detail at our venue. Cassandra, Pam and Leticia made sure to coordinated with the catering company, the DJ, the mariachi, the Pastor officiating our wedding (my precious Father-in-Law), and ensured any family members involved in our wedding knew their role and timing. My special day was truly Magical. I was treated like a princess that day. When i was thirsty and cup of water would magically appear, when i was tired of my heels my sandals would magically appear, if I needed a make-up touch up Cassandra was on it. I don't recall anything going wrong at my wedding, and if it did it must have been handled behind scenes because I was never stressed out. My only focus was to marry the man of my dreams and have a happy filled day and I know that was all made possible thanks to this amazing group of women from fairy Godmother who worked tirelessly to give me the best day of my life. To this day we still have people tell us that our wedding was their favorite wedding. Every penny spent was entirely worth it. I can tell you hiring Fairy Godmother is an investment. They will save you so much unwanted stress, they will treat you like you're the queen/king of your event. They will ensure your party is one many will remember for years to come. Don't think twice and stop wasting time looking elsewhere. read more

I hired Colleen and her team for my day of coordinator as well as a set up for my wedding on April 13th. Colleen, Sara, and the entire team that assisted during our wedding... We love you all! When I walked into the cottage and met with Colleen I had no clue what to expect. I was unsure of how our wedding day would turn out. Not only did I feel like a VIP during the wedding day, I always remember the words and things Colleen told me that day. When my husband was having a moment, she stepped in and gave advice. When I was looking frazzled and frantic, Colleen shared words of wisdom. It felt like a dream and she was guiding me through it all. All the time and dedication to the wedding was worth it and Colleen as well as Sara made the vision and dream we had come to life. The day after our wedding it felt like I had broken up with my best friend, as Colleen would no longer be on speed dial to call with every concern or comment about the wedding. It saddened me to know she wouldn't be the first person to contact as I had a mini panic attack about the wedding. The wedding is done and the perfect day is complete... Colleen, you made it all possible. Sara, you dealt with my crazy. Both of you ladies made our dream a reality and I cannot thank you enough. Even writing this I cannot believe how close we got and how important you become to Sal and I. We love you and all the team at Fairy Godmother for making our day the best day ever. Right after becoming engaged, I knew that I would have to call the Fairy Godmother Team to help me plan my wedding. I can't say how thankful I am that they were available to help my fiancé and I organize and execute the many ideas that we had. At the time that we were planning the wedding, I was completing my education. I had very little time for anything other than course work and student teaching. If it weren't for the handwork of my Fairy Godmother, Colleen, I know that I wouldn't have been able to schedule the appointments that included cake testing, florist visits, venue review, and the booking of a photographer. I am a shyer person who becomes uncomfortable when having to speak on the phone to people who I may not know. This is another reason why Colleen was so helpful and kind. She would call any of the vendors to schedule appointments, talk about pricing, and review details. Colleen also had beautiful design ideas, and was extremely kind when I wanted to change the theme of the wedding after our first consultation. Colleen also created a timeline for the wedding day that was extremely well done and easy to follow. The day of the wedding the people around me were commenting that I was the calmest bride. The main reason that I felt so calm was because I was confident that the two Fairy Godmother's creating the wedding would execute the "look" just as I had wanted it. I was right to be calm because Colleen and Cassandra did an unbelievably beautiful job. They helped us all stay on schedule while projecting kindness and patience. As my bridesmaids, my mother, and I were finishing getting ready my eight month old niece was in the room. She was wanting to be held but we were all having to run around to get dressed. Colleen happily held my niece all while helping the photographer get the photos of the accessories and bouquets. I think that small action really shows how much she cares, and that she is willing to do whatever it takes to help. I cannot recommend the Fairy Godmother's highly enough. I had a wonderful experience, and I will always be thankful for Cassandra and Colleen. I have had the pleasure of working with Colleen and her team for our Indian/Hindu Wedding on Nov 9th, 2018. Hiring Colleen as our wedding planner was hands down the best decision we made for our wedding. We were very impressed from the start until the very end with her level of professionalism, dedication towards making our event a success and caring for our every need. She is the reason why we even were able to get married on that day, given the wildfires at West Lake Village (our initial planned venue for the wedding). I am not sure how, but she and her team were able to relocate our wedding to Marina Del Rey Hotel, far away and safe from the Wild fires within a few hours. We (my husband and myself) and our guests were very impressed and thankful for all of their efforts. We were able to actually have the Indian/Hindu wedding that we were hoping for, including the surprise "Rolls-Royce Baraat" I had planned for my to-be husband. If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would!! If you are looking for some stress free planning for any event, big or small, you should consider them. I know I will!!!! read more

Also, when choosing vendors, I'd recommend utilizing ones she recommends and even it's not in the budget, make a little room, for full-service coordinating, it truly pays for itself! I had 8 months to plan my wedding so I knew I would need a coordinator, I was assigned to Sara & from the very beginning she was always prompt. Numerous calls & texts throughout the whole process & she ALWAYS got back to me within minutes. Fast forward to the day of my wedding, Sara was truly amazing. I could sit here & write an essay on how perfect she was. Never in my life have I felt so special. I wish that I could go back to that day just so I could relive those moments with her. She made me feel like a celebrity. If I was thirsty she had a water or some kind of beverage in front of me within seconds. If I needed to reapply lipstick she had it on her reapplying it for me. (Funny story) I needed bug spray because there were mosquitoes & I thought "that's impossible who would think to bring bug spray" & within a minute she was spraying me with bug repellent. Nothing went wrong the day of & if it did I had no idea because her main priority was to make ME happy. & she did just that. At the end of the night when she gave me a hug & told me she was leaving I felt like I had to say bye to a friend. The whole experience was truly one I will never forget & Sara is the one who I need to thank for that. Both my husband & I give her all the credit for making our wedding the one of our dreams. In fact, I didn't even dream of it being so perfect but Sara made it an event that people will never forget. What can I really say about the most amazing Wedding and Event planners? First, I had many questions and I always received prompt responses by Marissa and Denise. No question was ever too silly for them to take extra time out of their day to answer. I thought I was organized and then I met Denise. Denise took notes on every detail that I ever said. When I thought I was rambling off an unimportant detail, she would always stop me and remind me that she needed to know every detail so that day of she could ensure it came to fruition. I had a large bridal party (10) and I come from a large family (1 of 15), Denise made sure that everyone felt welcome and was apprised of all the details of the day. I can honestly say that my wedding was beyond what I expected. I say this with the happiest of feelings in my heart and thanks to Denise. There was a large possibility of rain the week of the wedding (my wedding ceremony was outdoors) and Denise was very honest and gave me the options and the reality of what I needed in order for the day to go on without a hitch. We felt confident in all the advice she gave us. had so many guests and bridal party comment about how wonderful the "fairies" were. They took such great care of us, from the start of the day to the end of the day. Denise was a true joy to work with. I would be remiss in not mentioning Marissa and Colleen. Marissa made sure that all of my ideas came to life in the decor and she spent countless hours pulling it all together. Colleen ran between my groom and I that day. Let's just say my groom got his Tux 15 minutes before ceremony start, all thanks to Colleen making sure that he was taken care of, or else his tux probably wouldn't have arrived. I could say this team together can truly conquer the world and I am so overjoyed that they were all a part of making my day as magical as it turned out. I have dreamt about my wedding day since I was a little girl. My Dad would tease that I first needed to start, "talking with boys," before attempting to plan out my wedding. Countless hours were devoted to TLC wedding shows, searching Pinterest, browsing Instagram and fantasizing over MY special someday. I found the Fairy Godmother Instagram page on one of those binge dream sessions. I remember excitedly telling my parents how they would be the ONLY event planners able to craft my visions into the fairytale that had been developing in my mind for years. Of course that came with my Dad teasing that I better not "frighten off" the prospective groom with wedding planning without a ring on my finger! After the engagement I was beyond thrilled to officially begin the planning process with the Fairy Godmother Company. I loved my meetings with Cassandra discussing my visions for the wedding. She whole heartedly embraced my love for glitter and all things Disney. Four months before my wedding I was relocated to Arizona. While that would be any brides nightmare, I had peace of mind knowing I truly did have a Fairy Godmother to ensure all aspects of my wedding remained flawless right down to a timeline of my wedding day. Pinterest and Instagram highlight "picture perfect" weddings but one truly does not see what goes on behind the scenes to obtain that photograph of perfection. Having a Fairy Godmother to coordinate contracts with vendors and handle the background work was a blessing. It allowed me to focus on my new job and living in a new state. All I had to do was simply fly back to Bakersfield for the best party of my life. Writing this review is bittersweet. It's saying goodbye and finalizing the chapter of my fairytale that has been a long time in the making. I watched her turn, what could have been a very stressful outside event, due to the weather, into one of the most beautiful and fun filled weddings I have ever had the honor of attending! The magic was definitely in the air, especially around these two ladies! I would, and will, recommend Fairy Godmother to all of my friends and family for their wedding and event needs! read more

Our 'day-of' coordinator, Yessi, was wonderful, and really allowed us to relax on our wedding day, and ultimately enjoy it. Yessi was there from the very beginning and made sure that all our vendors were accounted for, she was there to direct our guests where to go and helped with the flow of things; even fixing last minute wardrobe malfunctions that took place only minutes before the ceremony. You don't really think about everything that is needed on the day-of, but I can safely say without her direction and guidance we would have been lost, and left scrambling for what to do and where to go. I highly recommend Fairy Godmother's services, as they really do make your most important days/events stress-free. read more

Love working with the FG team, some of the most professional, caring and creative coordinators/ event designers in town. Highly recommend them to friends & wedding clients. As a vendor they take care of the entire behind the scenes staff when working together in a wedding production. Everyone on staff is top notch! read more

Denise and her assistant helped keep everything rolling at my friends wedding. They were in contact with al the vendors and had a time line set up for them and the wedding party that was easy to follow. They were calm and moved people along so that the Bride didn't have to become "Bridezilla" at her own wedding or at the people in the wedding party:) Highly recommend Denise EARLY she is amazing!!!!!! So many great ideas. read more
