We worked with Shannon for almost a year planning the big day and finally this past weekend it was wedding day! Shannon and her team completely knocked it out of the park! The wedding was absolutely breathtaking. Every single detail was absolute perfection. The florals were stunning and we could not be happier with her service. I will most definitely use her for my other children's weddings and events. I read the other review on here about her being pricey, but I say you get what you pay for. If you are looking for perfection she is definitely going to provide you with just that.

My intentions for this post are to help other brides learn from my experience. Since this vendor does not allow reviews on her Facebook page and another bride told me her yelp review was somehow removed... I'm going to go ahead and write my review here with hesitation. Our (my fiancé and I) had an amazing first meeting with Shannon Lee-Hough (shannon Hough Events). We were very impressed with her ability to just pick up the phone and call vendors when she found out we needed a DJ for our wedding. We ended up hiring her and put a deposit of $2250. We were looking forward to having less stress with this planning process. Well, she gave us two quotes over the next couple days which were both $5k or more for deejay services. We thought that was quite high and even joked that possibly she was marking the prices up. Then I went to her about cake tastings and invitations. While she was pressuring me to use her for floral services by telling me that she had another bride interested. She set up a cake tasting for us. I thought she was setting up two, but she only set up one and had the baker dropped the cakes off at our house. (She blamed this on me.) I had told her I don't know what I need to do and I wanted to be treated as a 5 year old because I want my hand to be held, but she still thought it was necessary to ask if I just wanted the cakes dropped off. I said dropping off is fine. I was currently stressed about her doing florals for another wedding. My wedding was at 11 am. How could she possibly do floral for another wedding? The cakes were dropped off at a different time than she told us and we were at another appointment. (Invitations, again another vendor we found on our own and made our own appointment). She's texting us asking why we aren't there? Uhm, because they aren't supposed to be there for another two hours. When I asked about invitations she literally sent me contact info for two invitation vendors for me to contact on my own. That's frustrating, but okay. So I get in contact with them but I'm annoyed by the questionnaire. Can I just see some samples? We decide to just walk in to a local vendors to see what they had. They were the sweetest mother and daughter and were just extremely helpful! I saved the best for last!!! Floral... I set up a meeting with her and she did a beautiful mockup. Just gorgeous! We were excited to have our wedding planner and florist all in one. One less vendor to have to find! A couple of days after our appointment Shannon sent us a PayPal request for $5,500 for our floral deposit. That seemed quite high so we asked her for an estimate on our floral and she said she couldn't give us one because we didn't know all the details yet and she wanted to do another mockup for $300. Wait... what? So again, I request an estimate. The response was $18,000 + so I talk to a friend of mine and they were shocked too. She doesn't have a store front and all the overhead that comes with that and they told me I needed to ask for a breakdown. They were actually shocked that she didn't send one. Well, being that our big centerpieces were almost $800. Shannon sent another PayPal request for $4,000. (She was lowering her deposit amount) I got a gut feeling. Something I couldn't explain. we decided to tell shannon to go ahead and let the other bride know she's available to do their wedding. This was stressing me out. We finally went to shannon and expressed our concerns. I was feeling like my wedding planner was more concerned with getting hired for floral design than actually planning my wedding and relieving stress. To our surprise, she offered a refund. We sat down that weekend and thought: we don't have a wedding planner, we don't have florals, we haven't decided on inviatations. We are more stressed now then before we hired her. It's probably best for us to take that refund, move our date, and move forward from there. We expressed this to her over text (that's her preferred communication method) she tried to call me but my tonsil was swollen and it was difficult to talk. Monday morning she sent us a text letting us know she will not be refunding us. WHAT?! She proceeded to tell us why we should be happy with her. No matter what I said she argued with it. Finally, I told her that if she wasn't going to give us our money back then she needed to call our vendors that we had already called and set everything back up. I don't Think she was expecting that. I think she thought she was just going to walk away with $2250. Things got really ugly from there. I'm sure she can say plenty of bad things about us, but she's supposed to be a professional and she certainly DOES NOT behave that way. There are many other things I could say, but my energy is gone. I can't put any more into this person.

Going through the whole wedding vendor and planning process was stressful. It felt like every vendor really cared about you until they got your money but Rubi was totally different. She made us feel like her friends. She genuinely cared about us the entire time and never made us feel like just clients. Her work is gorgeous. It speaks for itself. Once I saw her photos from a friends wedding who Rubi was the photographer for, I knew we had to work with her and honestly, it was one of the best decisions we made during our planning process. Between her ability to capture real emotion, her ability to make you feel comfortable in every moment, and her amazing work, I plan on using Rubi for every major milestone in our lives. She also is super quick on delivering your collection which is huge as well because I, being the impatient person I am, was dying to see the photos. As our wedding came to a close, And we were done with the day, I was almost sad to be at the end of our relationship with her. In short, Rubi is everything you will want out of a photographer. Her work is gorgeous and she really cares about everyone of her clients. I could NOT recommend her enough. (I realize this post is heavy on how Rubi treated us as clients vs her work, but that was the exact support I didn't know I needed during this planning process. A vendor who cares is so flipping rare in the wedding industry so I just wanted to drive it home)

Book her now! You won't regret it…read more Rubi met all of our expectations and more. Wedding planning is so stressful but Rubi alleviated undo stress with quick responses to any questions we had. She came prepared with questions to the two visionary meetings to focus in on what we wanted captured and how we wanted the final product to look and feel. Before even meeting her, her portfolio captured me in a way that countless others hadn't. I'm a sucker for rich, moody, cinematic landscapes and Rubi provided just that. Rubi devotes so much time and effort in researching how to uniquely enhance each couple, individual, or family. If you have a direction she will get you there. If you're like me and have no clue what you want she will create magic that you didn't know was possible. She is incredibly easy to work with. She values her clients and it shows in her attention to detail and service. My husband hates taking pictures but Rubi made him feel as comfortable as possible and it showed with his smile and genuine relaxed position on film. I promise she is worth every penny.

In our wedding day, at the end she says "do you guys want to say any vows" we both said no that it's okay, and she persist saying "anything at all" in a way making it uncomfortable and not love as in we didn't have any vows and just wing it. She reminded us we only had a couple of minutes and that she had another couple waiting .. what the.. we just end up going to the front paid her what was needed and got out of there. I hired Manny to be the DJ for my birthday party not knowing if the music was going to be good or…read morebad. I was really surprised and impressed by his set and his music selection. At first people weren't dancing simply because they were still enjoying the food. The music was still good while it played in the background and made you want to take those shots at the bar early in the day. As soon as he started to play some bangers that's when people quickly jumped out of their seat and hit the dance floor with no hesitation, and just like that we had a party. The party had all types of music such as Reggaeton, Top 40's, Rock en Español, Cumbias, Salsa, 80's and Hip-Hop. What I really liked was that the dance floor was never empty which means the music was good and people were having fun. I would definitely recommend Manny for all your upcoming events. I would also book him again for my next event. I give Manny 5 starts because they were well earned. He showed up way earlier than expected, set up quickly and even started playing before scheduled.
