They are really friendly, helpful and have very competitive prices. The flowers are very beautifully arranged in bunches if you need something pre-done and ready for a special occasion, or there is an ample selection available that you can have made up at your request; or buy a bunch of random bits and pieces and arrange for yourself at home if you want to get creative. The flowers have also been consistently fresh, so quality is guaranteed. They have another store in Henderson, 229 Lincoln Road, according to their business card, but I have not been in there yet, so cannot review that one until then!

The best thing is that it's easy to pull in to park and pick up a beautiful bunch of flowers for that special occasion. My boss recently had a birthday and I popped in on the way to work for a beautiful fresh bouquet, which by the way she just loved. Of course they have a great online presence and it is easy as to order online and have them delivered just in time. They can do anything with flowers, to suit any special occasion. They have a good presence in this area because on weekdays they've always got some young school lad out with a sign, listening to his headphones, dancing like a crazy person trying to get all of the after school and after work traffic attention. He always does a great job. As for their flowers they usually have a good range, but I think they are pretty pricey. They do make the flowers look really good, but you'll pay for it.

Like a lot of people, I don't always know exactly what I want ahead of time, so it's good to be able to see and discuss the flowers in stock, to have a chance to appreciate the colours first hand and to hear any advice or recommendations. They have a small range or ready made boquets and a variety of colourful decorative flowers and greenery to chose from to make up your own selection. Quite expensive either way. I picked up some astromera's for $3 per stem, along with some greenery for 50c per stem (that may not sound like much, but you would need a whole handful to get a bunch worth). The lady was friendly, chatty in a quiet way. I would go back if it wasn't for the fact I already have a favourite florist, a wholesalers in New Lynn, plus a silly lil' thing bugs me about this place - the name, modern twists on names, grrrrrr.......

In this shop you can find things like kiwi-ana memorabilia, like vintage looking kitchen wear like aprons, oven mitts and table cloths. Also kiwi posters and paintings, and green stone jewellery. I like that this store is here in the village, as it is perfect for buying gifts for family friends and especially for visiting tourists. What I don't like is that it is a bit on the expensive side, which I think is a little unnecessary.

It was a perfect place to find a present for a friend of mine who lives overseas, as most of the NZ gifts were all really quite tasteful (not the generic tacky touristy stuff you find in a lot of gift shops nowadays). However if you aren't looking for a NZ themed gift then Gecko still has you sorted - you could probably find a present for everyone in the family here due to the diverse range of stuff available (from old fashioned games and toys to funky clocks to locally-designed wall hangings). The shop assistant was very friendly and packaged my present up perfectly so as to minimise costs when sending it overseas. Definitely a place worth a visit if you are out West.
