We were in Building number #6 unit 1561. The units are three levels. Upper level is living area. 2nd level is a bathroom and bedroom with a single and queen bed. Closet with vacuum cleaner and broom and dust pan. Table stand with lamp. The bottom level is the master bedroom. Deck off the bedroom. Bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, toilet, and sink. The Heating process was ok for main living space. But was weak for 2nd floor area did not heat well. The master the same but there was a space heater in the wall. The fireplace worked nicely. Wood can be gotten from Ingles store. There is starter wood also. I did pick up wmy first wood buy from hardware store ain cashiernd starter would. Wood bundle was 8.99 and at Ingles is 7.99. There is nothing to store ashes. Ingles is the place to shop but not inexpensive similar to Busches or Publiexs. TV location is across the room from sitting area. The reason is the location power outlet and cable connection. There are DVD players available. At this time of year somethings are closed. Farmer Market was closed and the restaurant on Sapphire. There are restaurants close by. We did not eat out but chose to buy from Ingles. Eat at unit. We went to White water falls. Sapphire which is mile down the road is where rec center. The gym is very well setup. One thing to note one needs to drive to things. If you want to walk the topography has elevation. So know that situation. If one wants a quiet place and nice environment this is the place I would recommend this place. We were satisfied with our experience. The reason for a 4 is our experience with finding registration and the toilet kept running. I called office for more trash bags and how to handle ashes. Left a message but no returned call. If the items noted did not happen would have given a 5 start.

We couldn't sleep because the smell got worse with the heat on. We had to keep the door open to break up the smell. The place is dated and furniture worn out. The floors were filthy. Needless to say we left early and booked an alternate hotel for the remainder our trip.

Wanted to do a quick getaway from Atlanta and chose tranquille resort. We decided to come and stay…read morefor two week nights as the prices were cheaper and with the wifi, we could work as well. It's only about a 2hr drive from where I am but there was a bit of traffic getting out of atlanta on a wed afternoon when we left so we didn't get in till dark. I called to say we might miss the office check in hours (till 6pm) so they kindly left the key in the cabin for us for whenever we arrived which was very helpful. The rooms were clean and kitchen and bathroom had pretty much everything you needed. We also utilized the charcoal grill. Only complaint was the lighting was a tad dark during the night but maybe it's to help you relax. Loved the view of the lake from the cabin, it was beautiful to wake up to. We were also able to bring our dog for a $60 fee. House rule does say no dog on bed so keep that in mind. There was a little doggy station on site and we were able to walk him around the property to potty. He enjoyed his stay and we liked going to the nearby trials in the morning/afternoon for a hike. There's an ingles nearby as well as some other restaurants if you need food options like McDonald's, Dunkin, couple of Pizza chains, and whatever a small town typically has to offer. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Review Fall Ambiance: Check,…read more Exceptional Lodging: Check, Overall Satisfaction: Priceless The two Lakeside cabins we rented were perfectly appointed, leaving nothing to be desired. All needed kitchen utensils, appliances and housewares are available. A dishwasher and full-size washer and dryer round out everything needed for a longer stay. Did I mention the view? Start or finish the day on the back porch gazing at the mountains and Lake Chatuge. We are planning to be back during the summer to take advantage of the boat docks, on-site canoe rental, kids playhouse and a cool swim in the lake. Did I mention the staff? Everyone( Greg the owner, Jennifer the manager, Vicki and another young lady) made sure that our stay was comfortable

We got about 15 minutes into playing when there was thunder and we had to leave the courts. We ended up at the restaurant and were waiting out the rain. I appreciated their dedication to safety. Our waitress was nice but didn't mention they were out of multiple items until we tried to order them, which was frustrating. And then we found out the bar was still serving the items we tried to order. It was a bummer but in general a small annoyance in an otherwise pleasant afternoon

Lovely old resort renovated fairly well. Beautifully tended grounds. Very friendly but undertrained…read morestaff (lots of warm smiles but few answers to questions), good food, but way too many kinks to be worked out before it's worth the prices they are charging. Unheated pool, insufficient water safety equipment, rules, and staff, and difficulties finding out when things are available for guests versus local club members. We booked a year in advance but couldn't get golf times other than 8:30a or 2:30p, thus clashing with included family meal times. The croquet course was monopolized by locals/ club members. As Inn guests, we felt like second class citizens to the club members. Donkey and llama viewing of times were not posted or known by staff. Damp, dew soaked day beds. A Spa reservations was "lost" and then found after the scheduled time. Shower door installed backwards with the towel rod on the inside, toilet paper holder falling off, impossible to use toilet without squeezing past door and shutting it. On and on it went. Suggestions for simple improvements. 1. A property tour offered at scheduled times daily would have helped. 2. A "Manager's wine and cheese/ bites" gathering would have been welcome to meet and learn about the property, it's offerings, and staff. Despite being marketed as an inclusive multi generational destination, it is not set up for this at all. You need to bring most everything from off premises. No room service for anything except ice. Restaurant hours are not small child friendly at all. Breakfast doesn't begin until 7:30a. Only one outlet opens at 11:30a for lunch, the others open at 12p. Dinner begins at 5:30p. Our group was not offered the child menu until the FOURTH night. Dinner is three courses but the "rules" are not explained. Everything except tap water and brewed coffee is an additional charge. When I couldn't decide between two appetizers the server suggested to get both but did not mention the additional change. I was charged $33 plus for the second ($25 plus 20% service fee, plus other fees and taxes). Three way overcooked tenderloins midweek when the head chef was off. A few very bland dishes. Short pours (2.5 to 3 ounce) of white wine everytime (for @ $20 and up). Defensive attitude when questioned. Strangely the menu does not offer many (nor emphasize) local/ regional ingredients. Carolina trout, Springer poultry, and Anson grits were about it. In a region rich in tradition, we were surprised that there weren't more local, foraged, inspired, greens, grains, fungi, fruits, vegetables, breads, meats, game, fish, cheeses, etc. A cheese course as a dessert option would have been a welcome break from the overly sweet offerings. We anticipated Blackberry Farm quality and offerings to go with their name on the renovation and their prices. We were disappointed. We will not be recommending it after our experience.

Pam checked us in and was fantastic filling us in on the places/trails to check out! The room was nice with the layout. Bedroom was large and the bed was incredibly comfortable! We will absolutely be back again! We had a view of the bunny slopes from our deck.

We are not owners there. Location. The resort is in the mountains of North Carolina, with the main highlights being the wonderful natural attractions of the area. There are many hikes within an hour's drive to waterfalls in local state parks, on National Forest Service land, and even a walk around a Wyndham-owned lake. Note that while the mileage may seem short, most of the roads are mountainous and curvy. There are a few restaurants nearby, and an Ingles grocery store a few miles from the resort. The resort is in a quiet location; our enclosed back deck faced the woods. The area felt safe. Our one-bedroom unit was spacious, clean, and comfortable, but dated. On the plus side, it included everything we needed -- a comfortable bed, full kitchen, television, internet access, and laundry set within the unit. We also enjoyed having the enclosed back deck. However, as mentioned, it was somewhat dated though some things (such as light fixtures had been updated). A few concerns. Noise traveled from our neighbor's unit, even when they spoke at normal volume. And, there were no handicap-accessibility fixtures (such as grab bars) in the shower. We appreciated the *free* activities available at the resort, including indoor pool, wet and dry saunas, jacuzzi tub, miniature golf, and the hike/walk around the lake down the street. While most of our time was spent exploring the area, we also participated in an hour of bingo at the resort. Together, my husband and I played 4 cards for $10; I won the final (of 8) games and got back our $10. There were other activities too that we passed on.

This was highlighted in "Our State" magazine, I think last year but I could have saved the article from the year before, but this was one of those items on my "local" bucket list to see. I love the Shadow of the Bear in Cashiers! The "Shadow of the Bear" is visible for 30 minutes daily (on sunny days!) between 5:30-6:15 PM from mid-October through early November as the sun sets behind Whiteside Mountain between Sapphire Valley and Highlands, North Carolina. It's best seen on clear days around 5:30 p.m., with the show lasting for about a half-hour. The photos below are from 2022; I'm pretty sure we'll visit again this year. PS I agree with Ginger L. that the camaraderie with all the people standing on the side of the road to watch is an experience in itself. A note of caution, to view the bear, you park your car on the side of a road hugging the edge of a mountain and people crossing the road that has a curve around the mountain so use caution while driving through the area and walking along the road!!!! But its all worth the view!!!
