Though an impressive property, our high hopes (for $1,000+/night) we're not met. As another…read morereviewer mentioned, the staff was very friendly but grossly undertrained. There was a mixup in our dinner time one evening and one of our spa reservations accidentally got cancelled. Nobody could adequately remedy either. We paid for an upgraded room, which felt small and cold -- in large part because the fireplaces had all been turned off for the season. We certainly would not have booked a room with a fireplace if that information had been disclosed! For a resort at this price point, not much was included. We felt nickeled & dimed the entire stay and cannot in good conscience recommend this property.

We are similar to many guests who returned to High Hampton after the renovation. We stayed once…read morearound 25 years ago when the place was known for "newly weds and nearly deads". The renovation is outstanding. As opposed to many renovations where the character of the place is destroyed (The Cloister on Sea Island for example), High Hampton's mountain charm remains with exemplary accommodations, culinary skills, and service. They have essentially a co-op program with nearby Western Carolina University, providing them with a pool of talent, always a challenge for remote locale resorts. The charm remains with no TVs in the rooms and a wide variety of games in the lobby. Not just board games, but games of skill. They have not bowed to the temptation of a video game room. Amenities were first class. Ample tennis and pickle ball courts and a great croquet lawn. We did not golf but the course looks in great shape. The staff service level was 5 star resort quality as was the menu. Only giving it a 4 as the Kids Camp is just glorified baby sitting. We had a five year old and we could see the campers were unsupervised, particularly preschoolers. We saw the counselors just turn the kids loose at the pool and lake and in some cases not even watching them but standing around talking to each other.

Notice that they hide behind the…read moreTrillium Company as they have no online presence or ability to leave them reviews on BBB, Google or any other prominent site because Cashiers Property Management isn't even a registered company with the NC secretary of state. Taylor Stetson who is the manager promises the world and then doesn't deliver. The service is supposed to provide quick response times to the needs of the property owners, and when needed subcontract workers to the home for approved services. Once you sign their abusive, one-sided contract, attempting to lock you in for life, with auto-renewals and huge penalties if you want to cancel, you'll then understand that this isn't a real company providing real services. Once they fail you, and they will, they will just bill you and threaten you. Do yourself a favor and don't sign on with this scam service company.

Clubhouse restaurant service was negligent when it wasn't rude. Food barely mediocre. Pool reminded me of municipal pool of my youth-concrete and chain lmk fences. Plenty of public recreation around, including golf. Don't wast money on this club. I was until recently (moved to Scottsdale) a member of Baltusrol, and am now a member of DC Ranch Country Club in Scottsdale. Trillium is third rate by comparison.

We arrived Sat 01-Nov. It was not easy finding the registration office for Foxhunt. The…read moreregistration office is on Sapphaire property. The rentals are a mile down the road. We were in Building number #6 unit 1561. The units are three levels. Upper level is living area. 2nd level is a bathroom and bedroom with a single and queen bed. Closet with vacuum cleaner and broom and dust pan. Table stand with lamp. The bottom level is the master bedroom. Deck off the bedroom. Bathroom with a jacuzzi tub, toilet, and sink. The Heating process was ok for main living space. But was weak for 2nd floor area did not heat well. The master the same but there was a space heater in the wall. The fireplace worked nicely. Wood can be gotten from Ingles store. There is starter wood also. I did pick up wmy first wood buy from hardware store ain cashiernd starter would. Wood bundle was 8.99 and at Ingles is 7.99. There is nothing to store ashes. Ingles is the place to shop but not inexpensive similar to Busches or Publiexs. TV location is across the room from sitting area. The reason is the location power outlet and cable connection. There are DVD players available. At this time of year somethings are closed. Farmer Market was closed and the restaurant on Sapphire. There are restaurants close by. We did not eat out but chose to buy from Ingles. Eat at unit. We went to White water falls. Sapphire which is mile down the road is where rec center. The gym is very well setup. One thing to note one needs to drive to things. If you want to walk the topography has elevation. So know that situation. If one wants a quiet place and nice environment this is the place I would recommend this place. We were satisfied with our experience. The reason for a 4 is our experience with finding registration and the toilet kept running. I called office for more trash bags and how to handle ashes. Left a message but no returned call. If the items noted did not happen would have given a 5 start.

I called who I thought was Capitol Vacations, as the phone number on my "itinerary" was listed underneath "centralreonline@capitolvacations.com However, it was the phone number for Foxhunt at Sapphire Valley. I had the unfortunate pleasure of speaking with "Chrissy" (couldn't quite understand her), and she was very impolite and implied I was not telling the truth as they ONLY charge the full amount at check in. Really?! Like I don't have better things to do except make up charges for a reservation and spend time finding their phone number calling etc! Although I was not happy about the unexpected (and really unauthorized) charge, nor the unprofessional person answering Foxhunt's calls, I choose to overlook it and keep my reservations. Reservations are - were - July 11-17, 2026. Today, July 3rd, Chrissy (?) called and informed me my reservations were CANCELED. I could not believe a week prior to the date of the reservations this "resort" cancelled and had the audacity to rudely explain it was due to "maintenance ". I was not offered an alternative, worse no apology was offered and instead I was talked to like I did something wrong!! That person, "Chrissy", was condescending, rude, unapologetic, and disrespectful! Also, she informed me I could take it up with her supervisor- who won't be back until Monday! So, do yourself a favor and bypass considering a vacation at this place. Unless you enjoy dealing with unnecessary treatment and behavior and having your vacation plans ruined. By the way, imagine having to tell my 10-year old nephew, guess what buddy? No vacation in the mountains this time! Nice. Y'all are heartless Foxhunt! Heartless AND unprofessional! Finally!! THANK YOU, FOXHUNT OF SAPPHIRE!! Since you canceled at the last minute; have extremely rude, nasty, hateful, unprofessional employees; the fact that "Chrissy" was just as nasty to the Capitol Travel representative (yes, I was told she experienced the same treatment as I received!!); I am grateful to NOT be staying there and will be sure to warn others so they do not have to experience such rude and uncalled for treatment. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
