Yanir was prompt at the inspection and had already done the initial exterior inspection of the complex of my condo unit as I arrived a few minutes late. Inside, Yanir thoroughly reviewed all the appliances, electrical, plumbing, structural, etc. As he was inspecting, he wasn't very talkative as he focused on assessing the various items throughout the unit, which is understandable. Afterwards, he did a walk-through and overview of items of concern. He made himself available to answer any questions and to answer any other items that I pointed out. He also assessed common areas for a fully comprehensive review of the living situation and amenities as I plan to bring this to the attention of the HOA/management company. He detected a notable concern with moisture intrusion and serious mold infestation that I and my party didn't notice, especially concerning as it overlapped where the electrical mains were located! In addition, unlike many other inspectors, he is an engineer and was able to provide guidance on structural matters (which fortunately was fine). Neil actually called from South Carolina to make sure that my needs were met. They even arranged for an exterminator service to meet us to do a termite inspection. I had to pay them separately, but Scott and Scott made all the arrangements on my behalf. Neil M. was the person who actually did the inspection. Our appointment was for 8:30am. I arrived exactly at 8:30 only to find that Neil had been there for a while and already completed his inspection of the exterior and the grounds. He took time to go over everything he saw with me. I thought it was going to be a generic overview, but there were so many details that he found I could barely remember some of them. Thank goodness for the detailed report (more on that later). Once inside he meticulously went through every visible corner and space, giving me the lo-down as we went. He made it very clear what his responsibilities were and anything that he could not comment directly on he gave a recommendation for a specialist that could provide more details or even give a professional evaluation. Nothing was overlooked. He even recognized repaired wood vs original undamaged wood. I was very impressed. Neil was very thorough. He tested every outlet, every light switch, every faucet, every window, every door, and he turned on every appliance and let them run for a while to test the functionality. He crawled into the fireplace to look both up and down. He bravely went through every inch of the attic. The whole time he was explaining everything he was seeing. I'm surprised he didn't need a drink of water after. Regularly he would ask if I had any questions and if I did they were answered promptly and to the best of his ability. I know next to nothing about this sort of thing, so my questions were probably not the smartest, but Neil was very patient with me and took his time to answer all my questions. Scott and Scott very clearly state what they inspect and what they do not inspect, so I knew exactly what I was getting and I got it. The report came just over 24 hours after the inspection was completed....and it's 35 pages long. It is VERY detailed, down to the smallest thing. Even if something was perfect, it was mentioned in the report. Even when I had a question about the report I was given an answer in a timely manner. If you hire Scott and Scott you'll get quality service and VERY honest work. They give a small discount during the winter for a Monday-Thursday appointment, so get up early and do it before work. My appointment was at 8:30am and Neil said it wasn't early for him at all. They also give a small discount for cash, which may not be possible for some, but worth it if you can swing it. I don't know if I'll buy another house in Fairfield County, but if this deal falls through for whatever reason and I need to look at another house, I'll call Scott and Scott without hesitation.

But…read moreafter one phone call to Abe, I was pretty set and confident on Abe's Home Inspection Services. Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. On the day of the inspection, Abe and Nick let me join in on the process and even encouraged me to take my own notes.
