Chase Bank

(4 reviews)

This review is based on my experience with the Chase branch in Fairfield, CT at 2272 Black Rock…read moreTurnpike. This branch is so inept, disorganized, and careless that I suggest that---if you must use Chase for your banking---you avoid it and use another branch. Based on my experience, which is limited to opening an Estate checking account for about a month, I don't know how they expect to win over clients to peddle investment advice. In short summary: I opened a checking account for the estate of my deceased mother after years of having multiple accounts at Bank of America. (This was to help make a clear separation of estate funds and personal funds.) BOA has always been an exceptionally good bank to deal with: very professional, careful, and accommodating. (I will now close my Chase account and transfer it to BOA.) My chief complaints are these: Chase held all of my deposits for eight business days, even after promising to make them available in three. This created enormous difficulties for managing my mother's estate and dealing with her debtors. If you can't rely on a bank's stated guarantees, what good is it? I think that the blame likely rests with the branch manager, Geoff Permison VP. (When I had trouble clearing a deposit which was guaranteed the day before, he told me that his VP title is "meaningless at Chase" and that he had little authority to do much of anything.) Overall, my experience with Chase over the years was good. I don't know if this incompetence is now endemic to Chase overall, or if it's limited to this branch. I suspect that it's the latter. Caveat emptor.

Katelin Borko, branch manager, VP, is the best personal banker ever. Intelligent, thoughtful,…read moreaccomodating. She stayed late to facilitate the opening of our new accounts. Her personable attitude and her product knowledge was amazing. I highly recommend visiting this branch, dealing with her, and you wont be disappointed.
