Stayed here with my family on 2 separate occasions on a trip to and back from Canada and we couldn't have been more satisfied with our stay. The studios that we stayed in were clean and spacious. Overall, the hotel and premises were very clean. The front desk folks were super friendly. Also, there was a daily complimentary hot breakfast served from 6:30 - 9:30 AM Mon-Fri and 7 - 10 AM on Sat-Sun. Some complimentary breakfasts tend to be quite sad, but NOT THIS ONE. For the hot foods there were scrambled eggs, omelettes, sausage links, bacon strips, Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches (YES, you read that right) and French toast sticks. There was also quite a variety of pre-packaged cereal, yogurts, milk/chocolate milk, pre-packaged banana and blueberry muffins and juice. Honestly, this was probably one of the best complimentary hotel breakfasts I've had! If I had to create an ideal budget hotel with a complimentary breakfast, this hotel would be it. The woman at the front desk was great, and the housekeeping staff went out of their way to clean out some boxes in my room quickly. But, the hotel itself was a disappointment. It is vastly overpriced for what it offers. Stayed two nights here and was very happy with the place. Super clean, well appointed rooms that smell nice for a change (not the usual hotel room musty air), with free streaming services on the TV, a big plus. Breakfast area was also clean and well stocked, although the hot selections didn't inspire. One hard working woman made sure everything was in place and everyone was happy. A great mid level hotel very close to the Turning Stone casino. The best part of this Marriott location is the staff. Wow, they are head and shoulders above anywhere else nearby. So professional and helpful, but also totally warm and friendly. Here in the area for business and looking for a Great hotel. Let me tell you something, this Marriott did not disappoint. Clean, well maintained rooms with your basic hotel living essentials, fridge and microwave oven. The lobby area always had hot coffee, water, tea bags and milk. They will gladly refill the carafe for you when the pots are running low. I used the gym and my only complaint is that the workout area is quite small, but it does the trick. The pool is well, your basic Marriott suite pool. House cleaning did a Great job tidying up my room. The complimentary morning breakfast was pretty good, scrambled eggs, bacon and veggie patties and hot oatmeal. Chobani yogurts were also available. Love the make it yourself waffle iron, waffles anyone? Yes please! The whole staff here was very friendly. I definitely will stay here again when in the area. read more

This was my first time ever staying at a Fairfield Inn & Suites. I've stayed at other Marriott properties - full blown Marriott hotels - and Courtyards. This Fairfield Inn is located in Verona, NY across the street from Turning Stone Casino. My room was comfortable and clean. The bed was firm enough, and there were plenty of pillows. The room included an HDTV (I don't know if they had any HD service - I did not watch TV. The AC worked well and they offer free wireless internet access. Service was good, staff was friendly. The one thing that I will ding them on is their breakfast is a bare bones offering. Toast, bagels, cold cereals, juice, hard boiled eggs, and such. There are a couple of places next door to the hotel to eat: Recovery Sports Bar & Grill and a Dunkin' Donuts. Both are good! I would definitely stay here again! read more

We have stayed at this hotel a few times over recent years and it has never disappointed. The staff is professional and friendly. The hotel is updated and well cared for. Our rooms have always been clean and they use Marriott's upgraded linens. They also offer a free breakfast in a dinning room just off the lobby every morning. Booked a room for my husband and I. We understand that some amenities are not available because of COVID-19 but we specifically chose this hotel because it offered breakfast and pool online. Wonderful hotel, and the staff is exceptional. It was a very comfortable stay in a clean room. It was easy to drive to from the highway, but felt quiet and safe. I had multiple out of the ordinary requests for the staff as this was a last minute trip and I was not prepared, and each person I interacted with treated me kindly and helped me efficiently. I am looking forward to visiting the hotel again and I am confident it will be just as enjoyable. When looking for a hotel in Verona or near Utica, you can't do better than this Fairfield Inn. read more

Overall this is a good hotel. I was initially planning to give them 3 stars d/t a few minor complaints that I will get into, but the friendly service with a smile attitude of the staff really won me over. The place is clean, the atmosphere relaxing, the beds are comfortable, the shuttle service is efficient, and the breakfast is okay. If I ever come back to this area I'll probably stay here again. Now for the nit picky complaints: -While the breakfast had a wide range of options, they were all middle of the road. The first morning I ventured out of my room with quite the bacon craving, but the meats that were available were sausage and Canadian Bacon. The second morning they just had sausage, and the only thing I could bring myself to get was a cup of OJ before going across the street to a post wedding brunch that this buffet couldn't hold a candle to. -If the Bathroom had a fan, I didn't see a switch for it. Weird -The smoke detector had this light that was constantly blinking throughout the night. Really, people. Really? No I get it, you want a safe way to ensure that the smoke detectors are working at all times, and a button would make a sound that's too unpleasant for patrons to put up with...but maybe you could find some kind of alternative, like detectors that would flash just between 10 am and 10 pm, because what you have now is pretty darn annoying. Tips: -When calling for the shuttle, mention how many people there are in your group so that they can prioritize accordingly. -The front desk does not sell Aloe vera. -If you are planning to attend an outdoor wedding, consider applying some sunscreen. Depending on what you consume after the ceremony, ibuprofen may not be an option. read more

The staff at the hotel were very nice. The room was clean in the morning they offered bag breakfast because of Covid.The one concern we had was that the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. So much so that my husband and I woke up several times during the night with back pain. So if you're young you'll be fine but if you're older watch out for the beds. read more

Clean, fresh, and updated. I wish it had a hot tub though. The room is clean and conformable and the staff is really nice. What's best is the free shuttle to the casino. Fridays are busy, but Saturdays are even busier. More revelers seem to check in on Saturday. I stayed here for two weeks on business and it got a little rowdy Friday and Saturday. My only complaint is that the guest laundry washing machine did not do a good job at spinning the water from my clothes. I literally squeezed my sock dry and so i went into town instead to redo the load. I was wondering why the guy in front of me at the guest laundry mentioned he had to rub two dry cycles. read more

This was a refreshingly wonderful hotel experience. We were in town for a wedding and stayed two nights, 6/30/17 & 7/1/7. The price was great for the accommodations. We got thw AAA rate. After traveling for 5 hours, the staff was helpful and greeted us with a smile. Checking in was smooth, and we got to our room on the third floor and it was clean, and delightfully air conditioned. The king size bed was comfy and the sheets were clean and soft. There was a fridge and a microwave in our room as well. Bonus! We arrived at 11:30pm and there were still many places open around the hotel for snacks, gas, food, etc. Not to mention the Turning Stone casino resort was across the way. The hotel had a free shuttle service running to the casino until 4am. The complimentary breakfast offered a variety of hold and cold foods including, cheese omelets, canadian bacon, waffles, bagels, cereals, hot oatmeal, fruit, yogurts, and tea, coffee, juices, and water daily from 7am to 10am. The indoor pool is small but refreshing on a day when there's 90% humidity. It was clean, easily accessed, and provided towels. Highly recommended! read more

I'm really picky about my hotels but this one was great. They gave me a free upgrade to a suite for a weekend when I came to visit for a wedding. The rooms were super clean, there was free wifi, and there was a clean gym and a pool. There was also complimentary breakfast but I sadly didn't get to sample it because I was up after 10 am every morning and missed out (Luckily there was a Dunkin within walking distance). Housekeeping cleaned my room without me realizing and replaced all my towels daily. I was very satisfied with my stay. Thanks so much to the wonderful staff for a great weekend. read more

This place is great! Modern design, clean interior, and great staff. The place was built in 2009, I think, and it's held up its new appearance very well. I had a bunch of people stay here for an event, and booking 10 rooms was super easy with the group reservations person. I took a tour first and got to check out the various rooms and common areas. The staff there are really friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you're taken care of. The rooms are spacious (many are suites with a separate TV area) and the furniture is new and bathrooms are really nice. The rates are also really reasonable. It's great to have this hotel around. I didn't want to stay at the casino, because I don't like casinos and I wasn't having people over to go to the casino, and also because when I did a site visit there, the staff were total snobs. On the other hand, the Fairfield Inn was nice, affordable, friendly, and because it's away from the casino, it's quieter and not hectic. If I had visitors to the area again, I would definitely recommend that they stay here more than anywhere else. read more

Probably the worst booking experience I've ever had. We booked 4 rooms over a month in advance, 2 suites and 2 regular rooms. Upon arrival we were told that we booked 1 suite and 3 rooms with 2 beds, leaving all of our party in an awkward situation. We were told that no suites were available. Later during our stay, we walked into the lobby and overheard a couple checking in offered a free upgrade to a suite. At that point, I engaged the concierge to ask how this was possible and she was exceptionally rude to me; not only indicating that I'd not booked a suite but also told me that she'd not offered that couple a free suite upgrade and that none were available. Speechless; I went back to my room which hadn't even been cleaned by the staff. Long story short; I will never stay at this hotel or any of its affiliates again. s read more

My family and I stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Verona, NY this past weekend. This was the 3rd time that we stayed at the Fairfield Inn, Verona. As with the other two times, ALL of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and all are very happy to work there. The people at check in, housekeepers, and staff that oversee the breakfast have all been warm, caring, and personable with each of our stays, which is another reason that we prefer to stay at the Fairfield Inn. This trip was a difficult trip because we came to Verona to attend my Dad's wake and then funeral. Our trip from Maryland and Delaware to Verona, NY took us 10 hours (as opposed to 5 1/2) due to the fact that our rental car had a flat tire while on Route 81 on the way to New York. It took the rental car agency four (4) hours to get the tire fixed. However, because of another issue with the rental car, we wanted a replacement vehicle, which the rental agency made at the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton airport. When we arrived at the Fairfield Inn, all of us were completely stressed out as we checked in. We changed clothes and immediately go to my Father's wake that was in Oneida, NY. Trisha, the person at the check-in desk, was were very, very empathetic, warm, and caring and it made what had been a very exasperating drive from Maryland and Delaware to New York suddenly feel like it was not so bad. When we returned from the wake, Trisha was still there. She made a series of adjustments to accommodate our request to check out late the next morning, despite the fact that the Fairfield Inn was totally booked for the weekend. She told us that she relayed the information to Donna, who would be at the desk the next morning, and she asked that we stop and let Donna know who we were as we went to the funeral the next morning. We did, and Donna told us that Trisha had relayed the info so she was aware of our situation and told us to check in as soon as we returned from the funeral. She also told us that she had found a way that we could switch rooms and check out later in the afternoon, if that helped us, considering what we had been through to get to Verona and what we were on our way to do. We declined her offer; however, her efforts did not go unnoticed. She did not have to do that. The staff at the breakfast area were also very, very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, I did not get their names; however, there were 2 women. They both greeted us as we appeared in the dining room and provided a brief review of where everything was, and asked us to let them know if we needed anything while we were there. They cleared our dishes from our table, which they did not have to do since it's a "serve yourself" type breakfast. The maids were equally as happy, laughing and talking among themselves and all of them happily greeted us when we left our room and asked us to let them know if we needed anything at all while we stayed there. I don't know what the Fairfield Inn does to keep their staff so happy; however, I do know that it was great to see so many people happily working at their job! It is people such as those described above that make us want to return to the Fairfield Inn. Everyone: Trisha, Donna, the maids, and 2 women in the dinner area made an especially difficult trip a little easier. read more

Point in fact this is a well run Marriott that is clean. You can do a lot worse in Verona. That said the owners of this hotel are inflexible. I was forced to checkout at 2pm where my reservation was through the next day. This because the local area was subject to a winter storm alert and in fact overnight they received 12 inches and a storm total of 20 inches, closing the airport. I checked out versus getting stuck in Verona for the weekend. In turn I was forced to pay for the night I didn't sleep in the hotel... All said, I would still return to this hotel given the alternatives are awful in the area. And as cited this Fairfield is well run. read more

For the price, its not worth it. Booked a room with a bed and a rollaway bed. Was told upon arriving they did not provide rollaway beds, yet there are some stores in the stairwell. Jad to buy a cot. Was charged an extra $100 hold on top of hotel rate but not told until after checkin. Finally able to relax, we go to use the pool, but were unable to get in. Was told someone would be down to unlock it. Waited 15 minutes. Then was told pool was closed due to weather. It's an indoor pool. No signs. Not worth the price. read more

I ask for handicapped rooms if they are available since they come with a microwave and a mini fridge. With the recovery room restaurant (I have Yelped about!) Within walking distance and a dunkin donuts, You even have a liquor store when you first take that right that the Fairfield is on. Stayed 1 night for work. Great hotel right across from the casino. Easy access to major highways. Room was very nice with a modern trendy flair. Granite in bathroom, fridge with miicrowave and flat screen TV. There is HD on TV but not listed on the channel guide which should be updated. Nice complimentary breakfast. Alot of items are single serve which is nice as you can grab a milk, yogurt, fruit, etc and go along with the usual pastries, bagels and breakfast sandwiches. read more

Typical property with courteous staff, and stellar breakfast servers! I stayed with a group of four from Sunday through Friday. Property is well maintained. Rooms are adequately spacious. Bath towels are exceptionally soft, but face towels are rough. Breakfast staff is great! They are cheery and always willing to start you day with a positive greeting and big smile! Breakfast includes scrambled eggs and pork sausage links in addition to a standard assortment of bread. Cereal options are limited to coco crispys, rasin bran, frosted mini wheats, and cheerios. The south east side of the property is exceptionally quiet, but elsewhere is disturbed by train and road noise. Overall it is a typical property from this brand. read more

This is a nice hotel. Unfortunately every room at the casino was booked so we had to find a room elsewhere. We booked a double queen room with basic amenities. The total was about $180. The room was very basic and plain: 2 queen beds, small flat screen tv, dresser, one table and chair, and a little cushioned chair. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was large with a nice shower. The shuttle service was very useful considering it is very cold outside right now. Stayed here twice overnight on business. Nice place. Rooms not the cleanest but passable. Great value for the government rate but not a place I'd be willing to stay at the quoted $149 rate. Had a friend's bday party so there was quite a few of is in the room to start. Not even an hour in of enjoying ourselves knock on the door for being too noisy by security. Just a bunch of us talking and no music, told them not all 12 of us were staying and was interrogated all night by security for it. Not all of us were staying in first place just a starting point for us all. Get back and a friend forgot a bad, I brought it out to them and was still continued to be interrogated by security whether they were staying and they weren't. To get back to the room not even 10 minutes later while in bed trying to sleep to a knock on the door saying we were being too noisy. Would not recommend staying here unless you want to be constantly interrogated by security. read more

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had as a guest and as a business person. The management is non existent!!! Before filing this Yelp review I tried to work with corporate office only to be put off for months. After staying there for several nights via a corporate account, and holding several meetings in their conference area, I met a colleague at this property in the lobby several weeks after. After ten minutes into our conversation, an obnoxious woman who looked like Andre the Giant who we saw smoking outside the entrance, told us we had to leave. We were not allowed in the lobby as non guests. I explained to the woman that we were repeat or ongoing patrons, she went back to the manager of duty Ms. Hicks, and then she proceeded to rudely tell me that we hadn't stayed there that night so we had to leave. I again explained that we were discussing our next round of meetings which we planned on holding there with additional rooms for overnight guests and she still through us out. Ms. Hicks told us we could go to the bar/restaurant next door. I have been a Director at a Radisson Hotel, and I have many years of hospitality experience and now own my own business. I will never use this place again and I want everyone to be aware when making a decision whether or not to stay here. Don't!!! LaQuinta is just next door and much more customer service oriented. I have booked all of my meetings and room blocks at this property and I have always been satisfied. I know no place is perfect or without material flaws, but customer service should always be on point. Horrible Experience!!!! read more

Stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Verona for an overnight getaway. I was very impressed with everything. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The lobby, pool, and fitness room were right near our room and they were gorgeous too. They serve a full breakfast in the morning, complete with sausage, eggs, make your own waffles, and lots of cereal, muffins, and bagel choices. Only downside is that the hotel runs a shuttle back and forth between the casino across the street, but it stops at 10pm on weekdays. We were going to be later than that, so we drove ourselves. It would've been nice to use the shuttle. Distance wise walking wouldn't be bad at all, but the highway in between is dark, and traffic moves very fast- not a very safe idea I would definitely stay here again. read more
