I hired Dave to do a very simple wall removal. Non bearing load. I was VERY clear when talking to…read moreall contractors I considered that they must be able to make the repairs to the ceiling and wall so there was no evidence of a wall was there. Well, this did not happen. You will see in the picture below you can clearly see where the wall was in the ceiling. Also, there was a small molding repair to be done where the wall was removed. They did not replace the molding but patched it with a piece of molding which also looks awful. They had to do a repair to the floor as well. I had a full box which should have been more than enough to make a repair of boards to fill in where a wall was. They ended up tearing out way more floor than was needed and damaged so much I need to buy three more boxes. It took them almost a full day to put the floor back in. I have install dozens of laminate floors and was at a complete loss why it took them so long to get the floor installed. Then to top it off, there is now a random piece of molding at the door threshold as they must have not cut it correctly. When I voiced how unhappy I was, be it angrily, the owner became very defensive and could not understand why I was upset. A smaller issue is they also left a wall plate off one of the switches in my hallway. Not a huge deal, but speaks to the quality of work. Very sloppy work and I compare it to results I would have achieved if I had done the job myself. I put a lot of money into improving my home and this has been the worst experience so far. One other side note. There are two David's on the crew, the owner David and a younger David that does much of the work. The owner makes the younger David communicate with the customer. At the end of the job the owner had the younger David tell me he was charging me another $100 for an error I made with the floor which was a very simple change out of 3 or 4 boards. I have no respect for an owner that sends his employee to do his bidding. There are to many good contractors available to risk having Davids do the work.

In short the work crew broke an exterior glass door pane to a sliding glass door. Accidents happen, poor communication and lack of follow up shouldn't. Home Genius blamed the sub and vice versa. Eventually the glass was replaced by the sub contractors father (yes seriously). After replacement it was foggy and dirty inside. After six calls to customer care we received a call back from Raleigh manager who of course blamed the sub and "would look into it". We got into contact via text only with our job lead as he has no voice mail. It was determined new glass would be placed back in upon our return from vacation out of state. To our surprise our home camera systems picks up somebody going into our backyard with a ladder and presumably working on the glass with no appointment, no permission and no contact with home genius. A text to the job lead to confirm was left unanswered. Likewise when the Raleigh office manager was asked for information regarding an appeal process, he asked if we would drop our 2 star google review first instead of simply meeting our request and providing info for am appeal. He still has not responded with info requested or followed up in any manner to see if our damaged property was replaced etc. The second glass replaced while we were not home but an unknown party is worse then the first replacement glass job and here we sit with zero assistance or communication from Home Genius. Customer Care reps have all been nice and courteous all 7 times we have called them. Just don't take the risk with other options available.

I REPEATEDLY told the sales rep that I would not sign any contract until I had more quotes, yet he kept insisting. "This price is only good for today." "Let me talk to my supervisor to see if I can get you a better deal." In the end, he promised to send me a quote for later review, but then ghosted me. These tactics are insulting. After he left I looked at their Better Business Bureau website, and saw similar complaints. I do not recommend doing business with Home Genius Exteriors.
