The place is EXTREMELY expensive, and when I tried to reason with him to lower the price and explained that we are not that wealthy, he got extremely nasty and impatient with us, and even made comments like "I bet you're rabbi wouldn't act like this". When it came time to do the service, and people came to pay their respects, he very rudely yelled "come on guys, it's getting claustrophobic! get into the chaple already!" Is this how you treat a family who just lost their loved one? Don't ever use this place, unless you like patronizing people that are rude and nasty. (Oh, and I heard from friends that this same manager has already been fired from other funeral homes for his nastiness. Let's hope this place does the same one day).

In the jewish religion, mourners typically put dirt in the grave of the deceaced. On the day we buried my mother, the ground was very soft, and therefore unsafe for the entire congregation to come close to the grave side. My rabbi kindly spoke with the cemetery foreman to offer a solution that would keep mourners safe as well as fullfill our obligation to bury my mother. The cemetery foreman was remarkably rude to my rabbi, the funeral director, and interupted the final prayer the Rabbi was saying for my mother to chastise the funeral director. When I called to follow up with the General Manager, Jimmy - he was extremely rude to me. He did not take the time to listen to my complaints, he was more interested in explaining away any of my criticism. Eventually, I was connected with the president of the board, Donny. I explained my situation to him. He decided that he was going to explain to me the reasons for the foreman's actions. He also took the opportunity to call me immoral. I asked him to speak with the board about my situation. It took him more than 3 weeks to return my emails and calls. In the end, I barely received an apology for my experience. Let alone any sort of compensation for such a disappointing level of service. Nassau Knolls advertises themselves as a non-sectarian cemetary. Yet, when faced with a situation that required accomodations for a jewish burial, I was told by both Jimmy and Donny "hey listen, kid, we're not a jewish cemetery". My rabbi offered to get a group of rabbi's together to help Nassau Knolls with the operating procedures for jewish burials, so that other families would not have this type of experience, they declined. I deeply, deeply regret that my family and I will have to do business with Nassau Knolls in the future. If you have the opportunity to go elsewhere, I would strongly suggest that.

Harmony proves that you can provide an important service to your community without emotionally nor financially blackmailing families to pay for unnecessary costs. When I called the office to address this issue, I was simply asked to leave my information and told someone would call me on Monday. There was no urgency, empathy, or understanding of the emotional impact this mistake has caused our family. For something as meaningful and sensitive as a family memorial, I expected much more care, attention to detail, and compassion. A tombstone is not just a product -- it represents someone's life, and families deserve to be treated with respect and urgency when mistakes happen.

Received a call back in 10 minutes from Chris, the director. 10 minutes on a Saturday night!!! That speaks volume about this firm's commitment to their clients. Met with Chris Sunday morning. He was a sincere, regular guy who clearly laid options and pricing. "No surprises," he said. True to his words, there were none later on. He also went above and beyond, pointing out my dad's eligibility for a US Navy honor guard at the gravesite as dad was on the Intrepid in the 50's. That was a powerful touch that we didn't even know about. That was all Chris' doing and was indeed awesome. He also tracked down a extra large-size limo for our family. I can go on but, suffice it to say, if you are unfortunately in need of funeral services, Chris and his team at Weigand Bros. are outstanding and I could not at all more highly recommend them.
