I have heard great things from other parents about Great Hearts schools and wanted to find out for…read moremyself. We applied this year and were fortunate to have been drafted through lottery. My daughter loved her old school and was quite disappointed when we told her that she was going to a new school. However, after 4 months, she has acclimated well and have nothing but good things to say about her teachers and classmates. She finds the work challenging and exciting. The school has taught her and our family a new way to approach reading. They teach Latin and have poetry wars. They also have an after school program that is an extension to their education and not just babysitting. The after school teachers help with homework and pick up is until 6 pm. They also have after school clubs with nominal charge. What is most important to my family was the school's faculty and their program for kids with special needs. My son was diagnosed with a rare disorder in October, that affected him neurologically. Some of the staff from school and after school program visited him, including Mr. Brogran (assistant headmaster). We love his teacher Mrs. Laird. She is a smart, kind, and loving teacher. She visited him in the hospital twice. My son had missed 2 1/2 months of school from being sick. Ms. Ernest (teacher), has been so patient in teaching him at home. She has been an important part of his education. We drive to school at least an hour twice a day, sometimes longer. We decided to move closer to the school since our kids loved being there.

Castle Hills is a part of our DNA. The superintendent is a man with more enthusiasm, dedication, compassion and commitment to student and family success than anyone I've ever known. Teachers are dedicated. The curriculum is challenging and the family-like environment fosters life-long friends and memories. I should know, I graduated from Castle Hills in 1992 and still have the same best friends from those days. If you want your child to know they are loved by Jesus and are more than just a face in the crowd, try The Christian School at Castle Hills.

Lisa has since retired, but still pops in and remembers our son fondly! Mr. Pinkston, the teachers and support staff are amazing!! We have never seen such kind, caring and knowledgeable professionals! Their attentive approach to students and passion for education has made such an impact! Fast forward 5 years, he continues to thrive in 8th grade with excellent grades and a great group of friends! When we were looking at schools, CHS offered SOARS support which really stood out to us and has been such an amazing tool for our son. I highly recommend an education with CHS, schedule a tour and shadow day, you will be thoroughly impressed

Mr Bauer is the only one who actually cares what happens to the students once they graduate. Nearly every student in the high school is there because they either get bullied everywhere else or the only other place for them to go is alternative school. The director and office staff know the children and their families well and make it an inviting place. My children are well cared for. Parents receive feedback daily with photos and notes. As an educator myself, I appreciate the time teacher take to prepare for and organize their daily lessons. My younger child engages in hands on activities, sings songs, and learns new vocabulary. My older son participates in learning centers to practice writing, letter recognition, and math concepts. The staff works hard to organize holiday celebrations and fun activities for the students. My only regret is not bring my older son here sooner. He started coming to BCA at age 3, and it took a while for him to adjust. His teachers were open to me coming in and observing. They also met me for a conference to discuss how we could help him get used to the new setting. He loves school now. My younger child began attending at age 2 and she's adjusted quickly and speaks a lot of Spanish. My family loves this school. We're very happy to be able to send our children here.

With that being said, it was their first year being open, so there was minor hiccups, but nothing we found to be a problem. The Great Hearts curriculum and culture is exactly what we thought it would be. My daughter never spent more than 30 minutes on homework each day, and we felt the uniform policy was easy to follow. The other big factor for us was the community. When you go to Great Hearts Invictus, it's not just a school, it's a community that spends time together and really builds relationships. I loved this! I dove right in and have been pretty involved with the school, and I found this to be useful to know what's going on and be able to be present for certain things. I have recommended this school to family/friends, and I will continue to do so.

It sucks. It is WAY worse than public school. I was a student there, made lots of friends, and had…read morea good time. But let me tell u from a student perspective, your kid will get bullied, and ur kid will come home every day a little more depressed. I recommend avoiding this school and only using it as a last resort. It is very unorganized, and the expectations for the students are unreasonably high. They expect perfection every time and the punishments are severe if you don't meet the exact criteria... It literally strikes fear into the hearts of the students. and while i agree that some degree of fear is good, i also believe that the amount of fear that this school gives is a dangerous amount. And while i will give this school credit for having a phenomenal course and teachings, but in the end, the cons outweigh the pros, by A LOT. My advice for elementary kids if u do go: Just follow the rules, keep ur head down, and don't cause a commotion. My advice for middle school kids if you do go: STAY AWAY FFROM THE GIRLS THERE, they are VERY toxic... and my advice for high school kids if u do go there: Find a girlfriend quick before all of them are taken and just go through the depression great hearts gives you together. Pls stay away from the school but if you do end up going... follow my advice. I warned you. - Reed Mac
