This piece is located at the corner of Commercial Drive and Lantern Road. It was painted by William Denton Ray. Ray was one of 3 artists commissioned by the Fishers Arts Council and City of Fishers in 2016. It was part of the city's Community Master Art Plan.
There is parking nearby the signal box. If you are having a difficult time finding it, just look for the nearest traffic light. All signal boxes, painted with murals or not, are near traffic lights. There is a small strip mall near this signal box where I parked and got out to get a closer look at the mural. You could, however, probably do a drive by and get a decent look at the mural, especially of you catch the red light.
The mural is an abstract piece and is very simple. It has some abstract faces with some music notes and horns. It covers the entire box, front, sides and back and uses basically 5 colors: blue, yellow, orange, white and a little green.
As is the case with most murals that I review, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there less than 5 minutes. It is probably best to plan out additional stops at many of the other wonderful murals in the area, including the other signal box murals, to maximize your trip. read more
