Made in the 1800s by a German craftsman, it was originally in Lombard but was moved to the Batavia riverfront by the Fabyans, and later restored by a 3rd generation Dutch windmill maker. There's a lot of park land around here so definitely worth spending some time here.

It has lived a few lives since then, having been converted into a hospital in 1900, and remained a hospital until 1925. It is now home to a variety of shops on Third Street in Geneva, which is like the main drag for shopping in town. Grow, Cali & Chance, and a nail salon are all located here. Given its long history, it's no wonder people are said to have ghostly encounters here... so I'll be keeping my eyes open for possible tours come Halloween time!

It's a bit of a haul and round about, but I truly like the area and the surrounding burbs. (Aurora, Geneva, Glendale Heights, Addison etc) I would prefer to live in the city, but if that wasn't an option, I would probably pick what I affectionately call, " Sweet Chucks" . It would take a whole lot of bribery and coercing for J to go back. He and his buddies growing up fled to the city every chance they got. Pottawatomie is such a great park. Pretty decent selection of restaurants (Jalapeno Grill) Outdoor events (Pride of the Fox) Parades (Electric Parade, Memorial Day etc) Kane County Flea Market and a charming little DT area. Some of the bars DT are hit and miss, but that's everywhere. I appreciate that this suburb offers a lot to do for all of the seasons, where as so many suburbs are just cookie cutter,after cookie home with not a ton of things going on. This has an older charm mixed with a newer flair of things to do if it's not always convenient to go downtown Chicago.

Located across the street from the Kane County Courthouse is the Geneva History Museum. This museum…read moredoes a wonderful job of telling the history of Geneva. One exhibit is dedicated to the exploring history of Geneva from its founding to the present. I loved seeing all of the artifacts and displays in there. Even though I am not a resident of Geneva there were items in the gallery that I recognized. There is are two other rotating exhibits with one being dedicated to educating children. There is an admission fee to enter and a gift shop as well. I wish I had time to see more. This is diffidently a museum that I would like to come back to and see more. I highly recommend the Geneva History Museum!

Sandi and I went down to see what was happening in Geneva for Swedish Days. I hoped that they would…read morehave a special exhibit for the Swedish Days Festival. The museum did not change its course by adding a special exhibit. I enjoyed learning more about Geneva and Hat has been important over the years. The receptionist greeted us warmly. The main historical room gave an overview of the history of the city. The interactive children's with train was enjoyable. The art gallery filled with paintings by local artists was enjoyable. You can even purchase the portraits. On the lower level you can find a genealogy room. If you are new to Geneva and want to learn more about this city check it out.

But the chairs in the lecture hall... who knew dwarves and hobbits liked going to Fermi? I mean, if you are over 5' tall its like hell... or economy on Spirit with 12" legroom. Dunno about you, but I am NOT a FAN to have 2" distance between your knees and someone's scalp. And VV for my scalp. BONUS: You get cookies and milk/juice after each lecture. AND there is free WiFi (2x) access!

The wonderful guys working the exchange setup a table for us, which is so sweet. Great service, will return just because of that! But alas I needed food - check! and a nice glass of champagne - check! Champagne is only by the bottle, but they have a great variety. The Prosecco by glass was good, but I wanted a little something more. The tequila and whiskey/bourbon selection is vast for a wine bar, I was wildly impressed considering I'm not actually a wine drinker. The flatbreads are huge and the charcuterie board was fantastic!
