I've been looking for a fabric store and finally checked this one out. Their warehouse is HUGE and they have sooo many different fabrics. everything from mesh to upholstery. They also carry zippers, buttons, and lots of other sewing supplies. The inside was clean and organized, which made shopping easy. We didn't really interact with staff much until checkout, but the male worker was kind and helpful. The fabric I picked was on the more expensive side (around $20/yard), but there were plenty of affordable options throughout the store too. Will definitely be coming back for more fabric! read more

I searched everywhere online and went to 3 fabric stores in SA to find a specific fabric that I found here. They have an amazing selection and I highly recommend coming here if in need for something specific. I was in such a celebratory mood and then the rudest employee came over and rushed us. My mother and I wanted to compare fabrics. We had taken one fabric to another part of the store to put another fabric side by side. Then we started to begin discussing measurements. This employee that came over said "are you buying the material or not because if not I have to put it back for other customers". Totally understandable we were very willing to put it back, but it's not what you say it's how you say it. He picked up the fabric we had. I let him know we are totally fine putting it back, but we were planning on buying some, we were just calculating measurements. He asked if we needed help figuring it out like he wanted us to hurry up, and I said no my mom was a math teacher, then he said well I'll put it on the table and you tell me how much you need, which again we didn't know. We were trying to do the math and weren't ready, that's whole reason why we were standing there! We are doing a huge project that needed some thought we don't want to get too much or too little since this store is an hour away from us. He took the fabric to the counter when we weren't ready and unfolded it. So we then were trying to figure it out at the counter which was so awkward because then someone got behind us in line. I was like why are you rushing us!? Don't you want to help the person behind us first? I looked at the employee and he was tapping his nails on the counter like he was annoyed. The whole interaction was just so rude. I know it doesn't sound like that much written down, the attitude was just so passive aggressive. I told my mom to gather her things so we could leave and discuss outside away from this man so other customers could be taken care of first and because I don't like people disrespecting my mom I needed to get out of that situation. I understand if this employee was about to go on his lunch, but he didn't have to interrupt us at all. He could have left us alone. We would have figured out the math and came to the counter when we were ready. He could have put back the material and said come to us when you are ready. Someone else could have rung us up. But no obviously this man can't read the room, doesn't have social skills, or customer service skills. Because of this I don't care how good the store is, I will not be back. read more

Great selection! I could spend hours in this place. Staff is nice. They are helpful but they will also leave you alone if you just want to browse. Prices are good! I can find things here I can't find anywhere else in town. Huge selection of trim also read more

Fabric utopia! This is such a fantastic store for DIYers, crafters, sewers, quilters, and anyone who's handy with a needle and a thread. They have quite the assortment of fabrics, all sold by the yard. They're happy to have you come in and paw through their selection, and take it up front for them to measure and cut it. All their stuff is cool, clean, nicely folded and clearly priced. They've got a vast variety of different fabrics, from different parts of the world to different materials. They have things in some sort of well thought out arrangement that I've yet to figure out. If you take the stuff up front, they'll chat you up about the virtues or shortcomings of the various fabrics. They also sell zippers, buttons, flourishy things, and basically anything else you need for a good sew. They also have stuff for upholstering furniture, or even doing the headliner in your car. They've seen it all, and know how to help. This place is much, much better than the national chain stores. I'm never going anywhere else in town for my fabric. read more

I just came back to the store because the material they sold me was stained, and as I was trying to talk to the manager, she proceeded to brush me off and start having a conversation with a whole Nother person and when I try to explain to her that I was still talking with her to try to get help to resolve the issue. She told me no this conversation is over and then proceeded to walk away. I see how this lady treats Muslim people she's rude and irrational. The guy that works at this location is a wonderful to work with but the lady that's the manager. She is very rude. She does not give you a chance to talk and she creates a conflicted conversation. . She was talking to me so rude and with a very unprofessional tone. I will highly advise to never shop at this location because that is not how you provide good customer service.. she treated me like a scum on the bottom of her shoe. That that's not how you resolve an issue with somebody trying to see what they can do to be compensated for the ruined material that They sold you. She assumed that I was a liar because I let her know that the material I bought was stained, which we discovered when I was inside the store that the roll had some stains on it. She rolled the roll out and assumed we got past where the stains were but come to my discovery. There was still stains in the material therefore that's why I came back to the store to discuss options with them. Do not shop here she is racist and rude.. read more

I had a good experience at Fabrictopia. When I first walked in I liked how things were laid out but it took me a few minutes to figure out where things were. Selection - Pretty good. They have tons and tons of knits. I felt like there wasn't as much choice for wovens. They do have a good amount of trims and laces too! The big plus here is printed spandex. You'll have a few great choices for fabrics that are harder to find at big chains or hard to pick online. Value - Hit up the sale tables and you might find a gem. Way better prices than a big chain. Not quite as low as bigger textile discounts. I was able to find a slinky metallic knit for $3/yd. Trims are priced very well. Stop paying $3+ for a measly pack of foldover elastic! It's $1.50/yd here Service - I feel like I had a perfect experience with service. There was one staff member leading a couple of people through an extensive search for their project. Two other employees were available when I asked questions but didn't hover over me. They were kind at the cutting table and seemed to genuinely enjoy working there and helping makers. Layout/Cleanliness - There are wide open aisles with plenty of room on the tables to look through your fabric. There are signs at each table to tell you about fiber costs. Like just about any fabric store worth visiting, it's not common to see prices on each tube. My only ding is for the organization of the trims room and the difficulty I had navigating the building to find certain fabrics. Y'all should visit. Like a previous reviewer stated, you have to be intentional about sewing or you will be disappointed coming here. This place is about a quarter mile from Pearl Brewery in what I think is an industrial park. It literally is a warehouse with warehouse business hours, like located next to train tracks. It's good the hours are only 9to 5 because it's location does not look like the safest place at night. Oh but the fabric!!! Tables of long rolls of satin, spandex, Lycra, jersey knit etc... I bought two printed 100% cotton prints that I don't recall seeing at Jo-Ann Fabric or Hobby Lobby. Again, this store is for people who want to make clothing and or furnishings that are one of a kind. Yes there were plenty of solids and standard patterns throughout too. However, I felt like I found a rare pearl in an oyster when I saw some of the prints. They have fabric for apparel, home decor, and upholstery. I only just started sewing clothing so I can't review the other types of fabric there. I can only say that there was a LOT of all three categories. Finally they don't sell patterns or quilting material if that is what you are looking for. Otherwise, if you're feel imaginative, and want to sew a one of a kind outfit, this is a great place to try! read more

Went for the first time today and was overwhelmed with the choices I had a lot of questions and the women working there, were very helpful. I understand this store sometimes has more of some things and less of others, so I went in open minded. I got 19.5 yards of cotton stretch knits, for $57.77 (that includes taxes!!!) so it was worth the trip! The remnant bins have beautiful options and the formal wear and athletic wear fabric choices are incredible. I'll definitely be back. read more

Pricing- most fabrics ranged between $9.99 and $6.99. Selection- the website led me to believe there was more than there actually was. Don't get me wrong, FabricTopia SA has a lot of options, but it wasn't as well organized or clearly labeled as I thought it'd be. Service- wonderful. All of the employees working during my visit spoke fluent Spanish and English. They didn't ignore customers, nor did they get in your face to help. Overall, it was a nice, warehouse-y store with better prices than other retailers. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND VERY UNKIND AND SHADY FROM MY EXPERIENCE. Horrible customer service! HORRIBLE! No stars completely irresponsible and do not want to do good business! I live three hours away, and after they cut my fabric I had no idea they leave on counter so I thought it was in my roll of vinyl. Totally my fault leaving there, but i thought common decency would kick in. Called three times offering to pay to ship, they put me off, "oh we are mailing tomorrow now two weeks.... didn't return calls and now finally refuse 2 weeks later to make a 5 minute trip to the post office or have a pickup with me PAYING. Sad really because I would never do that for a customer spending close to 200$ I will never return and highly recommend giving them none of your hard earned money. Takes very little to just be kind. This place is incredible! They are super helpful and kind. Bilingual, too. I'm new to sewing, but it's pretty clear they have a huge variety of selection (everything from car leather to outdoors fabric to fancy sequined fabric) and it's not fabric you can get just anywhere (e.g. they have fabric from Guatemala). Some of the fancier fabrics were expensive, but overall, prices were reasonable and they had a good sale going on. 1 yard min for everything, but that's fair. They have an in-house (well, next door) seamstress who can be used and she also gives lessons: Lisa Perello. FYI they close at 4:30pm for COVID-19 cleaning (sign on door). Masks required (good!). 5 stars because this seems to be the best selection of fabric San Antonio has to offer. Seriously, I'm from Nevada and had to realize how lucky I was to grow up with a warehouse fabric store, something SA didn't seem to have anywhere before Fabrictopia. (And no, none of the Hobby Lobby/Joann Fabrics bullshit, thanks.) The amount of selection is crazy awesome. If you're creating and need some unique fabric, this is your place. Not only do they have apparel fabric, but upholstery fabric, notions, trim, etc. If you are needing, they just might have it. Keep in mind though, this is random selection, not purposely organized stuff. 3 stars because the cuts of fabric were uneven and ended up losing me nearly a 1/4 yard of fabric, thus nearly making sure that my project was almost short of needed fabric. I'm gonna write this off as being due to an inexperienced newbie, but I would definitely keep your eye on your fabric when getting it cut. It would definitely help if they invested in a better cutting table (ya know, where the ruler is insetted in the table.) I've only been once but I'll be back again and again as long as the bad cuts of fabric don't continue. I love that this is the best selection in San Antonio and finally feel like I can unleash my creative, weirdo-sewing fetish properly! Woo! read more

Their team showed me what they had to offer and then left me to make my choices. They didn't take advantage of my lack of knowledge but they were there to tell me how much of everything I would need to get the job done.
