They have drapes, throws, incense, jewellery, handmade notebooks, hanging masks/purses/bags/just about anything you can think of to hand-make... but the best thing is the prices. The kind of ethnic-looking jewellery or homeware you'd happily pay loads for in a department store can be snapped up here for pennies. Don't miss... the pashminas. The amount of times people have stroked whichever of Lokaah's pashminas from my extensive collection that I'm wearing that day and asked where I got it from, and told me how they bet it had cost a bomb, has to be some kind of indicator! That all happened yesterday, and I received my items today. Really high quality materials. I cannot commend this company enough and will certainly buy from them again. Despite being an older lady she was quite happy to run up and down ladders retrieving products for me to have a look at. The shop was very well laid out despite its small size and awkward dimensions. Needlework isnt something that I am personally interested but I easily found the perfect gift and a look around the shop certainly captured my imagination. If I was looking for similar goods in the future this would be the first place I would visit.

This small shop is an amazing jumble of fantastic yarns- many not or barely available in the States. She stocks many UK yarns and some further flung but all really beautiful. The shop owner was incredibly helpful in figuring out weight and yardage I needed for a pattern. It is not a very big shop but is well stocked with fabrics and other sewing items such as zips, ribbons, buttons etc. The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly, helpfull and approachable. My first stop when I ever get time to make anything.

Although I prepared for cold weather, the cold in Scotland is very humid and penetrating. It didn't get through my Calzeat scarf though. I was toasty warm with my beautiful keepsake from Edinburgh. I'm in the process of re-doing my bedroom and i've been window shopping here for weeks. They have some lovely throw pillows and blanket - a bit of out of my price range (a throw blanket will run you around £70) but lovely nonetheless. What I have had my eye on (and was surprised to find) were the scarves. I'm learning very quickly that umbrellas don't work in Scotland. Yes, i'm the gal that spent her first few months constantly battling upside down umbrellas. Since this epiphany, i've been stocking up on warm hats and scarves to brave the colder/wetter/windier weather. This place has a nice selection of scarves at decent prices (about £15-20 to start), in cute neutral colours. I even picked up a scarf to send home to the mother unit when I first popped in.
