IMHO We always make it a point to stop into Fabric Mart to buy beautiful tropical prints for my daughter's side hustle. Just looking around is eye candy overload! It is so hard to make decisions on what to buy! There was only one young lady working the entire store, so we had a wait time to have our fabric cut, which gave us extra time to be tempted to buy more!!! My second review, so obviously I'm returning as this store has a fantastic selection of Hawaiian print fabrics at ridiculously cheap prices. They are covid safe with an automated temperature reader at the door, signs requesting customers stand 6 ft apart which the staff nicely enforce ( a customer tried to squeeze past me and the staff cheerfully asked they go down the aisle and up the next empty aisle instead), with a taped off perimeter for the measuring/cash desk area to keep staff and customers socially distanced too. Plus there is easy parking and you can stand outside socially distancing to wait to enter if there are too many customers inside. The fabrics are all artfully presented on large rolls and you can lose yourself in the rainbow of opportunity with sewing ideas. The hard part is deciding what to purchase as there is soooo much to choose from. I've been buying from them for a couple of years now, I always wash the cotton fabric before sewing a garment, and they wash and wear beautifully afterwards too. Last visit my daughter and I bought a pretty print here and saw it in another fabric store around the corner priced $1.50 per yard more! So we were very happy with our purchase. The staff are always different when we go in, sometimes they are a little standoffish until you ask for help, but they are always there if you need assistance. We had a great chat with the last gal who helped us, she asked what we were making with the materials we purchased and what patterns we were using, and she told us what project she was currently making and how hard the pattern was to follow....we can relate to that!....usual sewing stories where you share tips and hints. If you are looking for Hawaiian fabric you can't get better than this store on Maui, they are the cheapest, with the largest selection and great quality. I was enticed by low prices and Fabric Mart has them. I loved looking through the cotton/poly fabric in a huge array of colors but my aim was 100% cotton batiks. I looked through the limited bolts and when I pulled a few out to examine,I found that the batiks were printed on like other fabrics and I could not use the reverse side like other batiks. This fabric store has been my go to store. In the past I was lucky to have come across friendly helpful ladies, great customer service. Today customer service from one of the staff was HORRIBLE, she just argued with me and wouldn't even listen to anything I said, the other employee (the nice & friendly one) was trying to be helpful but she (the horrible one) just shut her down too! Workers here were never too friendly, but I always hesitated at posting something negative. However this broke the camels back, we were in line the other day, and an employee let someone at the end of the line come to the front ahead of all of us, some in line for 30+ minutes. A lady waiting to go in at the front was so shocked she cried and left. NO CLASS. BTW this I review is being made during corona pandemic. If no more aloha now, no more aloha when times are good. She kept looking at her phone and said non chalantly " we may have a few. Didn't bother to point me in right direction. SMH! I've supported this co. I was so surprised when I walked into this store...lots of Hawaiian fabrics and at really good prices. A good number of really cute prints were in the 4.95 range and the ones that were on clearance. Since I am from the Mainland, I got to see ones that I can only get in Hawaii. The employees are very nice and helpful. My only complaint was that it was very hot in the room and I had to shop fast so that I didn't pass out but HEY, it's Hawaii, right? Great place to buy Hawaiian print fabrics for $3.99 + $4.99/yard . They have a huge selection to choose from . I bought 100% cotton fabrics for less than $5/yard . They also have the cartoon character fabrics for about $8/yard which is not bad . In Canada we don't have much selection and if we do it's expensive. Staff was very friendly and store has air conditioning which is a plus. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. I waited, patiently, for 10+ minutes while the three cashiers were helping 3 other ladies... No big deal. :-) Then the phone rings and I make eye contact so she at least knows I'm still waiting for help. She answers the phone and walks away. Again, no biggie, there is still another girl who can help me, and I'm the only person waiting to be helped, so I'm super chill. The cashier finishes up and starts to walk away... So I ask her for help and she says " Oh, I'm gonna go over and help her (the other cashier who is chatting) right now"... She walks away and doesn't come back. Mind you, there are only 2 customers in the whole store and both cashiers are helping just one of them... After waiting another minute or so I set down my purchases and I left. They lost about $150 today... And they will never get my business, and I hope they never get yours. read more

I am from San Francisco and although we have wonderful fabric stores, I wanted authentic Hawaiian fabrics with the beautiful Hawaiian patterns. Last year , when I was in Maui, I saw Fabric Mart on the way to the airport! I vowed I would go there on my next visit. Fortunately, we returned this year. Today I visited Fbric Mart with my daughter. It's a newer location and they definitely have air conditioning so it is a pleasure to shop there! What a fantastic selection. Great, reasonable prices and wonderful sales people. Leslie helped us and was so patient with my numerous selections! Kind and thoughtful. I cannot wait to start sewing when we return home! I had a great time at Fabric Mart. Sure it's big, stuffed full of fabrics, and lots in disorganised piles without air conditioning, but if you've got some time and some digging inclinations, you can find some fun stuff that's cheap. And they were so helpful....I really wanted a hawaiian print with our halau colors and the gentlemen when through Every. Single. Bolt. Seriously.... in the end there was only one, which I bought of course, but he looked high, low, and every in-between. I bought several other fabrics and then had to stop myself because I realized I needed to somehow transport them home on the plane! The girls that work here are super unfriendly. We went to a few different fabric store before arriving at this one...those other stores didn't have what we needed, but their staff was so helpful. This store has tons of fabrics ranging from commercial grade to formal wear, from child oriented to Hawaiian themed. Anyone who wants sewing materials or quilting fabrics should check out the store. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Visitors can pick up tropical fabrics here for a fraction of the price on the mainland. The choices are great and I have not yet stumped them with any project I have had in mind... there have been times when I have been very impressed with their measuring and cutting skills--akin to seeing knife work at Benihana's. What a wonderful variety of fabrics, but extremely discourteous clerk. Came in the store today with my family, a total of five of us. Two of us have previously worked at large fabric stores on the mainland, and the rest of us just love to sew. The prices were very reasonable, and the selection of Hawaiian prints was simply amazing. We noticed immediately that they have a really strange way of measuring and cutting the fabric. It really made me want to remeasure my yardages when I got home. The two younger clerks were both pleasant and knowledgeable, but the older lady looked like it would have broken her face to make a smile. What a fabulous fabric store. They have the best selection of Hawaiian print fabrics and at the best prices. The same fabric at the mall was $7 more per yard. The staff was so very helpful. Lynn unrolled fabrics so my husband and I could have a better view of the fabrics we were looking at. She was also instrumental in helping us determine how much fabric we would need for our project. She was helpful, knowledgeable, good humored and had the true "Aloha" spirit. When we checked out, the manager and another employee helped us. They also made our experience a positive one. Fun people and obviously enjoyed working at the store and working with people. All three were the nicest people! read more

I have been coming to fabric mart for years, I have even been to most of their locations on Oahu and usually the service is always great but the disrespect from the cashier today really shocked me. I got to the register and had a girl cut my fabric for me. Another customer walked up to the register, she had just bought something a few minutes ago, left, then came back because she had some questions about the purchase that she made. The girl that was cutting my fabric asked me if she could assist her before ringing me up and I said of course. The girl at the register was having a hard time and had 2 other workers come to help her at the register, I waited patiently for about 10 minutes (by this time there was a line behind me) for them to finish helping the customer, after the customer in front of me left, the worker who took over the register asked me to step aside because she was going to ring up another customer who had come to the register after me and was behind me in line... I politely asked her why and told her I was here before the lady who they were helping previously even got here, the cashier ignored me and rang up the customer behind me. This was the worst customer service that I have ever received... I was a fan of fabric mart but this experience was very disappointing. I really hope they reconsider having someone like her as the face of their company. read more

Super nice staff. I think I was there for over an hour because there are so many fabrics to look at. A great place to find hawaiian prints for pa'u skirts and crafts. I will definitely come back. One of the things I anticipated most for our Maui trip was to be able to go to Fabric Mart. The prices for Hawaiian and Asian prints can't be beat. They have a huge selection! The people who work here are also very nice, offering to take my bolts to the cutting table while I continued to shop. Because they sell by the large bolts, they are really heavy so ask someone to help lift them out of their rods. I wished there was a store like this on the mainland. If you see something you like, be sure to buy lots of yardage because you may not find it again when you return. read more
