I started taking sewing classes and this fabric store was recommended by my instructor for having very affordable and a wide selection of fabrics. They do sell a limited selection non-fabric items (ie thread, zippers) but the majority is fabrics. I found the staff to be very helpful. Even though they were busy, a gentleman was helping another customer and then came by to assist me. I found the pricing to be very affordable given today's inflation - much cheaper than stores like Walmart! I would definitely shop in person here again and prefer to support smaller local businesses rather than big online retailers. read more

TEXTILES ARE FALSELY LABELED. SCAMMERS. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HERE. I ordered acetate lining online and received it today. What they sent me was very staticky. Acetate does not create static. I even performed a burn test. Acetate melts and does not flame up. What they sent me flamed up immediately & disappeared into black ash. I emailed them to request refund but received an "email address is undelivered" error message because the email listed in the website is invalid. So I tried calling the store to request refund but both persons I spoke to (Asian lady, then Indian lady) were rude and told me that I was lying and that they don't sell polyester and what they sent me was acetate. I asked if this is acetate, why is it staticky? She hung up in my face. DO NOT buy fabric from here because they will lie about what textile it is and won't give you a refund. read more

Decent selection of fabric with some really wild choices too, if you wanted to make an outfit for Mardi Gras carnival this would be the place to buy your fabric. However, they totally botched an upholstery job. The work was delayed repeatedly, the foam was cut to the wrong shape, the pillow cases were the wrong shape, finally I went in to actually help (I was that desperate!!) and they had this old dude using an electric carving knife to hack away at the foam cushion shapes, poorly. Eventually I just gave up as they were clearly unqualified for this job. I heard about this store and went for the first time to check it out. Firstly the selection is very good there are lots of choices.... the store even offers sewing services for cushions draperies etc. I am only giving it two stars for 2 simple reasons. 1.It is very difficult to navigate. With a great many fabrics being piled up very high it makes seeing a great many of them next to impossible. The ones that are within reach are also difficult to see. The wonderful institution designer fabric outlet on queen street that just closed this past year after 69 years was the epitom of a wonderful fabric store. Instead of having to fight with fabric bolts they had square samples of all fabrics on hangers. 2. The other huge issue is the lighting.... it is so dark in there. You would think that a fabric store would have great lighting so that you could see the fabrics properly.. The investment of instituting a fabric swatch sample system and better lighting I'm sure would only increase the sales. read more

I ordered 6 pieces of fabric. 4 of them were not what I ordered. I called immediately and was told that the 4 yards of grey flannel I ordered was really green and the other 4 yards of light grey flannel was actually blue. So I got 8 yards of flannel I didn't want. Then, I was sent 2 yards of cotton with a different pattern and color scheme from the one I ordered. I spent over 100$ on an order that wasn't what I needed or wanted and as compensation was offered a 10$ coupon. By comparison, last year I ordered 4 yards of fabric from Fabricville that was low quality. They refunded the entire amount! Very disappointing. read more

I happen to walk into this place because I was looking for viscose bamboo material. When I walked in the women was very helpful. I showed her exactly what I was looking for. She said she didn't have that type of fabric because it was expensive and most people don't want to purchase it. So she ended up showing me something a little different than what I was looking for. I looked around and was really impressed by the amount of fabric this place carries. It was really hot in this place because it's a warehouse. So don't expect air conditioning in this place. I also asked her for silk because I wanted a silk pillowcase made. She showed me a few silk fabrics in different colours. The colours and fabrics looked amazing. I told her I would come back and decide later. Upon returning I asked her to show me all the different colours of silk fabric she had. She ended up showing me a few different colours. I asked if she could make me pillow cases. She agreed and I chose the colour. About two weeks later I called to see if the pillowcases were ready. She didn't even call me to tell me they were ready. I went to pick up the pillowcases and I noticed they were stained. I brought this to her attention and she said "Oh that will come out". Then she had the nerve to tell me that they are water stains and maybe my hands are wet. She had the audacity to accuse me of my hands being wet, when it was a super dry day. WHAT THE HELL!!!! My hands were dry and I told her that if the stains don't come out I will return them. I could not believe this women. I spent almost $80 on two pillow cases and she tries to give me stained pillowcases. Not only that but the material wasn't that great. This women is unbelievable. I called her and told her they were stained and one of the pillowcases felt as if it were polyester. I wanted my money back. She had the nerve to say to me "Well I am a business women and I wouldn't sell you silk that is not silk". I was sure one of the pillow cases was passed off as polyester and not silk. I later checked with another fabric store and they too said that it was polyester and not real silk. The nerve of this women. What was unbelievable is when I tried to return them. She had the audacity to smell the pillowcases I returned not only once but twice; right in front of customers even though I told her twice I did not use these pillowcases. Then she accuses me of staining the pillowcases because it was raining that day. I couldn't f***ing believe her. I told her it wasn't even raining the day I came to pick them up. It was a hot dry day. She was looking for every excuse not to refund my money. Then she had the nerve to say that the people who told you this is not silk "DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FABRIC." It was funny because these people I asked are in the fabric business. If I could give this place a big fat 00000 I would. I will never buy anything from this place again. Also known to my husband and me as Scary Fabric. It's a cavernous warehouse stacked with bolts and bolts of fabric, staffed by a coat-wearing lady (it's always cold in there) who screeches at her stock guy to go put that stuff away already. I think she's awesome. As Kat F. mentioned, they are willing to deal and they always names a price that I'm happy with. Nothing is labelled beyond the categorical overhead signs so it's best to get Her to point you in the right direction. You are not going to find fancy designer prints here but you will always find something. You can try and find your notions here but you'd have to pick through the huge cones of thread, assorted zippers and odd-ball rolls of velcro. They've expanded into the next building with a furniture and moped division. I don't know if it's still "Fabric Fabric" (Scooter Scooter perhaps?) It just doesn't make sense but it's fun to walk through and browse. read more

Love, Love, Love this place... If your looking for something specific- they'll have it! Stacks and aisles of every type of fabric imaginable- even a fantastic selection of luxe looking faux furs (my personal favourites). It is one stop shopping for all of your fabric and designing needs... I like that I can walk in, find my fabric, hand them my measurements for custom foam cushions and come back a few days later to pick up finished product, DONE! The staff are all helpful and great with mention to Sona who has taken care of our interior designing needs and has made the process enjoyable. Always happy with the finished product too. Re Susans comment about it being stacked - yes theres so much of it theyd need the pentagon to properly display all of it. And ya the lighting isnt the best but after heaving a few rolls away I found exactly what we needed. My kids and I built a sofa and Fabric Fabric made the cushions. I visited the warehouse Dec 2019, I got an estimate to have a couch and matching chair upholstered. I accepted the estimate, brought the couch in, waited to hear from them. After a week I called to get an update on the work done so far. I was told by an employee that the cost had increased to an additional $930.00. Of course I disputed the additional cost, the employee once again spoke to the owner who was firm on the new amount. Unfortunately, I had misplaced the printout of the quote they had give me, and they conveniently didn't have a record of the quote on their computer. To make a long story short I was out $150.00 on transportation costs and they wanted to charge me $15.00 a yard for fabric that was advertised for $13.50 on their website. When I asked the employee to check the website she replied that she couldn't check the website, when I pressed her to do so, she did and charged me the price advertised. Realizing that buying was almost as expensive as owning 10 tablecloths, I got help from Souna and her staff. My daughter's wedding will have a rustic look on the venue and an elegant touch with the beautiful fabric of the damask material they helped me select (and a little work at my sewing machine). And the price was second to none. I compared it at another fabric store and believe me, the price was more than double. If there ever was a fabric store that you might get lost in, this would be it. First, let me define what this store is and what it isn't. (From my observations and personal opinion.) Its is not a fabric store you would go to for a specific spool of thread, pack of needles, few zippers, bindings, buttons or those such things. They may have some of this, you will need to ask at the front as the do have cabinets of mystery they pull such stuff out of, and may even house lost children (refer below). This is a fabric warehouse or clearance house which gets and has gotten much of its stock from various businesses that are no longer in business. This means you may not know what you will find, but rest assured if you are looking for something, any something, you WILL find it here... but you may need to pack a lunch, bring a flashlight, light jacket, comfortable hiking boots and your smart phone. Leave the children and dogs behind, they only slow you down as you take in the vistas of several 100 foot rows of fabric stacked several bolts high on 3-4 levels of 30 foot high industrial racking... The way the sodium lights sparkle on the bolts of 70's gold lame and sequin fabric. Find the 80's in bolts of neon spandex and neon nylon. Hike all the way to the Land of fine Linen and Wool.... Seriously, they have so much incredible stuff at great unknown prices; its just 'arranged' all over the store in several collections of related attributes.. maybe. If you don't see it, by that I mean you gave up looking, ask the helpful staff. You will need the staff to give you a price on the fabric, and it will be a good price. They will negotiate, especially if you are taking several items which you likely will. I've found two of the three ladies who run the place to be very helpful and recognize me and offer recommendations for interesting fabric arrivals. Fortunately the two most helpful have always been there and I've gotten discounts that have caused me to happily recommend friends and impart my geographical knowledge of this fabric emporium. It will take you time to get the lay of the land, as maps are not provided, but honestly should be, along with places on the back for the yardage costs for the quotes you will need. In jest, I'd say use your smartphone and GPS to take a picture and tag locations for reference, but as I typed this I'm thinking its not a bad idea. YES, its that big of a store. and seriously, leave the children behind... not behind in the store... with the dogs at home :-) read more

It is true that there are thousands of bolts of fabric but they are stacked on top of each other to the ceiling, in no particular order, and under such poor lighting that they can barely be seen. Pulling out a huge roll from the bottom of a four foot high stack is virtually impossible. I have bought a couple of lengths of fabric here and then had to go to a different fabric store to buy thread as they only carry a few large spools for sergers in a few colours. This place would probably be booming if they took a hint from Designer Fabrics and became customer friendly by displaying colour-arranged samples under good lighting and selling thread so you could actually leave with what you needed to complete your project.
