Gracie Tampa South is an exceptionally great gym!…read more I've had the opportunity to train at several gyms over the past 30 years, and I have never experienced this level of quality of service, excellent facilities, knowledgeable and effective coaching and most importantly a positive environment. My whole family, my wife and three daughters have been training Jiu Jitsu and MMA for more than 5 years. I don't take who my wife and daughters train with lightly. We visited many gyms in the Tampa area before deciding to join Gracie Tampa South. Now after nearly a year of training here, I feel qualified to share my assessment. The kids and teen programs are second to none. Not only do the coaches provide absolutely impeccable technical instruction, they create an environment that engages the kids, keeps them positive and motivated. My three daughters have never been more excited and motivated to train than they are at GTS. The competition program, again is exceptional, and the GTS Competition team's performance and results shows this clearly. You really have to experience how these coaches are so good at creating an awesome environment for the kids to learn all the amazing lessons that come from training Martial Arts. There is a very specific reason that this gym is such a great place. It comes from the top down. This attitude of professionalism, positivity, and the creation of such an exceptional environment to train is due to the exceptional leadership of the owner and head Coach Matt Arroyo and his family. Not only is the coaching and support staff so good, but frequently the very best MMA personalities in the world will be hosted by the GTS team. I've had more opportunities to train with World Champions in just the last year at GTS than in any other place. It's an attitude of excellence from the leader that permeates the whole gym. I have never experienced a more safe and effective environment for my family to train in over 30 years. Without hesitation or reservation, I wholeheartedly recommend Gracie Tampa South MMA. It is an exceptional place, and I count myself and my family as fortunate to have the privilege to train here.

The Sensei has a way with the students that drives work ethic and accountability, and balances that with a fun, community-like atmosphere that feels inviting from the minute you walk into the dojo. We couldn't be happier with Alpha and have fallen in love with the community of families that train at this gem of a martial arts school. Couple notes for those with questions: - training focused on Muay Thai, Brazilian Jujitsu, and belting in Kenpo - classes range from a few to a max of ~12 kids, keeping a closer knit atmosphere vs some larger-class schools where kids may get lost - kids range from 6 yrs old up to 18, even providing some adult trainings (a small group I train with are around our 40's)

My oldest has been enjoying coming to class and being around kids his own age. He told me today that watching sparing is one of his favorite things so far. My only critique would be to see a bit more split for the smaller kids to the big kids early on. With the ability to catch on faster, the older kids (pre teens and up) would benefit from being split into a group by themselves so that they can be taught and move a bit faster. On occasion, the younger kids both have trouble following through with their skills, and it causes class to move slower for the older students. I look forward to seeing my almost teenager continue to grow and progress with this program.
