I've reviewed here before but I LOVE this place. You get all your cardio, strength and ABs in 1…read morehour. It packs a PUNCH. I've gone to a million studios on ClassPass and this is by far the most effective and most bang for your buck. I am wasted by the time I'm done and I never feel like I need to do more cardio after. It's high intensity but low impact, so I wake up the next day feeling healthy, unlike a lot of CrossFit/HIIT classes I've taken. Plyometrics use mostly body weight and equipment you could technically buy at home- so if you can transfer the exercises you do in class to at home (I lack the motivation to workout alone at home) it's a great place to learn new things It is a HARD workout, and I'm usually the only girl (its core members are mostly local West Hollywood men who are very fit). The trainers are really helpful and attentive and kind, and they play great music with a TON of female musicians (love). I can't recommend this workout enough! Definitely try it if you're a ClassPass member or local to West Hollywood looking for a great workout.

I am confused about these reviews and photos. I took a class via Class Pass and it took place in an…read moreaerobics room inside Hollywood Gym. It was NOTHING like the photos. It was not a clear establishment like OTF or F45. The class I took was on a Wednesday and it was only two of us. The workout was fine, but it defeated the purpose of attending a group workout which is how this was advertised. The coach was friendly but not motivating at all. All the marketing and promo is very misleading. Not returning.

I started LEKFIT a few months into COVID when I was in desperate need of movement - specifically…read moreled by someone who knew enough about the body, strength, and support, so that I wouldn't end up injured! Especially without the in-person piece of working out the body, cues on form become super important. I did a trial with another workout streaming subscription before finding LEK, and this instructor gave very little to no cues on body positioning etc. and I did end up injured. So I was thrilled to find LEK, who sets streamers up with prompts and cues for body alignment that ALWAYS come at the perfect time! Just when I think something feels a little off, Lauren or the instructor will offer just the cue I need correct my form. I'm in my 40's now, so it's more important to me than ever that movement nourish and strengthen my body and not harm it. Injuries take longer and longer to heal from the older I get! Also, classes are FUN! The couple of times I've been ill and unable to workout, I'm always super excited when I can do the first workout in awhile. Lauren is such a masterful choreographer and strategist in how she plans the moves for each work out and from week to week! I also LOVE that she phases in heavier weights some weeks. My dad was a bodybuilder so I grew up lifting weights and I'm so appreciative she doesn't shy away from this, even though fitness trends might swing away from this. Also, high impact just doesn't work for me knees, so I ADORE the rebounder. I've never been so obsessed with a method of cardio in my life. Also, on days my muscles are sore, the rebounder portions of LEKFIT feels like a massage, so restorative while still working my heart! I also appreciate Lauren's approach to wellness in general, including the curated workouts, but also extending to the OTS content. It's such a rarity to find someone (much less in LA) who is so grounded about food, eating, and exercise. The workouts are all under 60 minutes. They are challenging but NOT punishing to the body. Her approach to food/eating that she shares seems to focus on eating when you're hungry, minimizing processed foods, and not putting anything 'off limits'. And then drink water and move somehow every day, even if it's just 5 minutes. It's such a sensible approach to living, especially in this time and place (2023 in LA) and I'm super grateful she's out there promoting a more centered approach to wellness. Last piece of praise, this may or may not be fair to evaluate, but I can't help noticing things like this. Even though I live in Southern California, I have never attended in person yet, only digitally as a streamer. Anytime Lauren needs things adjusted during a recorded live class (such as a side door open, music up/down, lights up/down), she doesn't stop the class, she just gently asks for a team member to help her out. She always says please and even when she needs to ask multiple times because a team member hasn't heard yet, she just keeps gently asking and saying please until someone is able to help out. This kind of stuff really matters to me, even though I know it's not directly related to the fitness content. And I really appreciate it when folks running things treat those they work with well - so I wanted to name that here too. Thank you LEK and awesome instructors for guiding us through such awesome workouts each week! We appreciate you and the heart you pour into your work :)

I've literally never written a review before, but this was the weirdest worst workout class…read moreexperience I've ever had. I've done almost every studio in LA and NYC and work out 5-6 times a week, and feel pretty well-versed in the LA workout scene. (Tracey Anderson, Silver Springs, Barrys, Heated Room, etc etccc). so I feel like I can confidently say this was not right... like something is so off about this place I walk in, and they show me around, point out the amenities, but then tell me I can't use the locker room because it's for members only. Okay... fine. I go into the waiting area, and even though the class is listed as 10:45 AM, it doesn't actually start until 10:58 AM. We're all just sitting there on our mats waiting. Then the instructor (who is the owner) walks in without saying a single word and literally just starts working out full speed ahead. No intro, no warm-up, no cues, no hi, just starts like full workout mode in the mirror facing herself - just loud music and silence from her like she has a mic on but isn't actually using it. Maybe she was saying something, but the music was so loud you wouldn't know. I left the room not knowing what her voice sounds like.. Then, a girl with a camera walks in, records her for 10 seconds, and leaves. What?? That was strange, but okay. The class keeps going--still no cues, no counting, no nothing and every few minutes, this camera girl comes back to film her again. You never do a move for more than 5 seconds, so you just have to watch her in the mirror to even know what's going on. It felt less like a workout class and more like we were just there to watch her work out. Otherwise, why would there be no cues, no corrections, no countdowns... and a camera girl filming her the whole time Oh, and there was a full-on ring light set up in front of her to make sure she had good lighting for these video clips. All this for a $40 class?? Am I the only one who thinks this is weird?? I read a lot of reviews before going, and now I'm genuinely wondering if I missed something or what...

I've been going to Surfcore Fitness for about two years now, and it's hard to overstate what this…read morecommunity has meant to me. I've been to a lot of gyms in LA over the years and was used to working out alone -- but I realized I missed having people to share the journey with. I came to Surfcore at a point in my life when I knew I needed to make some real changes to my health, and Carlos and Jose were so supportive and encouraging. After my first year, I got a clean bill of health from my doctor, and they genuinely celebrated that with me. Through the six-week challenges and all the day-to-day workouts, I've learned how to better balance my eating, my fitness, and my mindset. The workouts are tough but fun, and the people are what make it special. It's supportive, hilarious, and full of good energy. I've made real friends here -- something that's hard to do as an adult in L.A. And honestly, I really appreciate talking both workout shop and sharing the latest tea at Diva Fridays. Sadly, I had to move out of the area and I really miss my routine with the crew. Surfcore had become my third space -- a place between work and home where I felt grounded and supported by friendly folk. Truly one of a kind.

A very long overdue review for our beloved community gym!! My husband and I started at Surfcore…read moreAugust 2023, as we wanted to get into shape before our wedding. Our goal for joining the gym was to just get into better shape, but we didn't have any other expectations. We came out of it not only looking our best on our wedding day ;) but also became a part of the most supportive community of friends and people from all walks of life! Everyone at the gym is so welcoming, and we love the ALOHA spirit and vibes. The gym is run by two passionate (& extremely fit) owners, Carlos & Jose. They are not only our trainers, but true community leaders that always show up and do their best to make us feel comfortable and supported as gym members. They truly go ABOVE & BEYOND to make each member feel welcomed, and are always offering guidance even outside of the gym settings. In regards to the workouts, they are definitely tough! But not in an intimidating way. Carlos and Jose work with you to make sure that you can safely perform the routines, while also knowing when to push you to challenge yourself. As someone who's time is limited, I appreciate that these workouts are efficient and effective, and I always feel productive after the 45 min session (and oftentimes sore for days - the good kind of sore). I definitely value the variety of HITT workouts, which alternate between upper and lower body and continue to be a challenge for me even after 1.5 years. Since joining Surfcore, I've felt so much stronger and actually have more definition to my arms/back, and more !! Additionally, as someone in the healthcare field, and specifically working in a weight loss clinic, I can confidently tell you that my experience with patients on weight loss drugs (i.e.GLP-1 agonists), see the best results in their body and form when they combine their medication with weight-bearing exercises (basically all the Surfcore workouts). PSA to anyone who is on GLP-1's, you can lose up to 30% of your muscle mass if you are NOT combining it with a structured exercise routine! Logistics- My initial question when I first found them through a google search was "how's the parking situation??" Parking is accessible and free! Such a rarity on this side of LA. The biggest bang for your buck is signing up for their monthly membership to get unlimited access to all their classes. My personal focus was going to the group classes, but Surfcore also offers other opportunities for working out, including their barbell club, 6-week challenges that incorporates regimented combination of clean eating with workouts, personal 1-on-1 training, and fun competitive events on holidays and at the beach - and more! We are SO extremely lucky to have been a part of the Surfcore community, and if it wasn't for making the move out of LA, we would've continued to stick with this gym for life. They have set an extremely HIGH bar(bell) for what we'll be looking for in a gym community in our next chapter. We are truly going to miss our Surfcore family!! If you are looking for a place to start your fitness journey, please do not hesitate to reach out to Jose & Carlos to join this vibrant community!!
