Other gyms for this cost or less have saunas, tanning, pools, yoga studios, classes, etc. Not here. The two newest staff members are very unpleasant with one of the girls going as far as chasing you down anytime shes away from the desk when you scan in and practically accusing you of not being a member. On top of that the same girl has a habit of putting things away before anyone is finished, I've seen her do this to the point someone will eventually yell at her. Any time you step away to grab water, go to the bathroom, or even just walk around in between sets she immediately cleans up after you even if it's obvious you're not done. She also seems to think everyone should workout in 100% silence so if the weights ever make any noise or if someone makes even a quiet grunt she'll tell the manager who then calls you to say there's been noise complaints about you (which is funny because whenever I've gone there's either people that are much louder or there's not a single person in the building so I'd love to know where the complaints are from). It's really not worth the price.

The workout space itself, has great ventilation, cool lighting and sound, firm bags, weights, and benches. Behind you, is a beautiful portrait mural. In front of you, is a large mirror, the instructor platform, and high-tech screens to further understand the current rounds' movements. You will get an amazing group fitness workout at Rumble Anchorage and you'll feel it the next day. The workout consists of 10 rounds for a total of 45min. You are doing boxing, HIIT, and strength training moving from the bags, to the floor, a few times during each class. "Buns of Steele" is definitely Rumbles' star instructor. She comes off the instructor platform numerous times throughout the workout, to be on your level. She is welcoming and kind. She will demonstrate for you at different angles, while also encouraging you. I appreciated being able to use a $25 BOGO deal to try Rumble Boxing Anchorage, at an affordable price. I appreciate that Rumbles' online calendar allows you to book your class(es), week(s) in advance. Okay, so...I understand Rumble Boxing Anchorage is still fairly new, here are a few areas for improvement. Memberships displayed at the front desk of Rumble boxing (see picture), are not reflected on the website. I was told I could ask, to be sent a code. Memberships for Rumble are pricey. Online, you can buy the BOGO (new members only), an unlimited membership (think - Alaska Club), or the $25/per class drop-in fee. There is a "Rumble Bundle bag," that includes the items you need for class. Apparently the bundle is the enrollment fee. It's my understanding that some were able to pre-order the bundle prior to Rumbles grand opening. These bundles weren't offered for sale at the grand opening. They weren't offered for sale today. They are not offered for sale online. I believe they may only come after getting a membership. I recommend asking about the bundle. When it comes to the hand wraps - the cheaper of the two is $9 the pricier ones are $25. You also need to buy boxing gloves or rent them. I just found out about the gloves today, because during the grand opening, we were only asked to pay for the wraps. Since I have a card on file, I wasn't told how much I was going to be charged for the glove rental today. Seeing my receipt later in the day, glove rentals are $3. Since you buy and book online, I was not happy to come in today and see that the staff moved everyone because it was a smaller class. I secured F21 / B21 online, because it's in the back of the studio where I feel most comfortable. I wanted to let it go, because my spot was given to a girl chunkier than I, and I'm glad SHE was made to feel comfortable. However, as an introvert, I was caught off guard and it took a lot to get over "being on display," and focus on doing my best during the workout. Rumble has a great space and their BOGO deal is the best. Rumble will give you a sweaty full-body workout. I'd like to see the front desk staff be more knowledgeable (able to explain financials/bundles) and be considerate of bookings. With the way the space is setup, I understand it gets loud and crowded by the front desk, and maybe this isn't possible every time. It would be helpful if details and other important info were online or in emails prior to class(es). Lastly, I hope to see more package options that don't require a commitment.

Completed my 460th class today. Amazing & invigorating workout with terrific motivating trainers.read more

I was looking for a trainer that would actually listen to my requests and goals, as I have had some not great experiences in the past. I have been working with Jay three times a week. He has not missed a session (one of my issues from other gym/trainer experiences) and he always has an absolute winning, positive attitude. I came in about fifty pounds overweight and terribly out of shape. I am also not a gym person so this has been a big learning curve. Jay has always taken the time to respectfully and patiently answer my many questions. I am always impressed with his vast array of knowledge. And the staff midday, when I train, are just wonderful. Shout out to Sydney, Mia and Christian who are super friendly and helpful. They feel like my own cheerleading team! The gym is quite large and there are plenty of different machines to choose from. The members are all shapes and sizes and walks of life, and I don't ever feel shamed or excluded. If you are looking for your gym home, and especially if you are looking for a trainer, stop by and chat with Jay at Body Renew Anchorage!

(I have not been to the new Penland location yet). The locker rooms and have their own locks. The equipment is always clean. It is rare that something is out of order. (although the elevation on a treadmill has been out for a while now). The staff is nice and respectful. The gym is well lit, the sun shines through the windows well. The only downside is the 5:00 to 630 rush time is busy and the parking can be a pain at that time. All though the Penland Park location is closer to my house I will sick with this location.

You're not stuck facing a wall on cardio equipment and each one has a tv with direct tv attached to it for ease. The music playing in the gym has been pretty good and I did notice you can snap a QR and add music to play over the speakers. The staff have been quite nice and the facility is clean. It's a little weird that there are giant bowls of candy at the front desk when most people there are trying to change or maintain a lifestyle of health & fitness. For those that are new or nervous in the gym, the circuit training is a great introduction. 30 minutes of weights and cardio, one step/machine at a time. We enjoy the hydro loungers at the end of our workouts, which is quite a nice way to relax afterwards, for a few minutes. What I don't like is the lack of privacy... sure you're dressed but whenever you're laying there, everyone that walks by looks at you like you're on display. I know, I may be weird about this, but a privacy curtain would be nice. I do wish there was a sauna or steam room to go along with the black card perks, but it's not a necessity, just wishful.

This review for The Alaska Club for specifically for the East location…read more My doctor recommended I take the PREP Program which gives you an in-depth guide on how to get started on your weight loss and how to use the machines. It cost about a $1 a day for 60 days, then you decide if you want to stay with the club or not. I started in December 2019 until mid February 2020. You are guided by an RN who monitors you and a specialist at the gym who works on making you a plan and shows you how to use the machines. The PREP program is located in sections throughout all the Alaska club gyms around the state of Alaska. The main PREP program is located at the East location where you will need to attend for the first month at least twice a week. The program is really good and very helpful! I can't express how much this works and how much help you get. I wish I could remember the names but the RN and the Gym specialist were wonderful and were eager to see you succeed. Now, one complain I hate was my that this was doctor recommended and I had been monitored by my doctor for sometime. My blood pressure tends to read high on EVERYONE's machines. it's actually not that high, it is high but not to a point where this issue I am about to complain about irritated me. The RN was concerned, I told her that is was her machine. she said that if I can't get my blood pressure down that she doesn't feel comfortable with me exercising. My issue is that, before you take peoples money, maybe screen first for concerns. I basically had to get my doctor to tell her to leave me alone and I basically decided not to finish the program the second month at the East location. I understood her concern, but when you only have 60 days and you don't feel comfortable with me exercising and I already paid but my doctor was the one who cleared me, I see an issue with that. My suggestion is that before you take the money, maybe run the screening then is there is any issues have them taken care of then you can take their money. Anyways, I've recommended a ton of people to this program and hopefully they have decided to join or try it. Now, my second part of the review has to go to the the people who sign you up. You can see my review about South club, and I fully stick to that review. I first got information from Brandon who gave me details on cost, I needed to join the South club because I live on the South side of town. No pressure, no issues, no sales tactic or pressure with "this deal ends today" shit. I finally decided I was going to join the Summit club, I signed up with Steven, again there was no pressure, no issues, no sales tactic or pressure with "this deal ends today" shit. He helped me decide and compare prices and it was easy! There was another young black man who helped out as well but I forgot his name so you might have to check with Steven. This gym is awesome and I would actually prefer to have a membership here at this club. Your sales team is wonderful, you PREP program is great and helpful! It really sucks that I have to drive to this gym to have had to speak with sales but I drove to this location because I knew I wasn't going to get bullshit or sales. This is a big plus! I know people complain a lot about The Alaska Club, but if you have issues, I would just run to this club and see if they can't help you. I actually say if you are located near this club to actually go here lol. Thanks for being helpful! Melody

I asked the front desk and was told they were closing things for reupholstering, and that someone would check on the timeline and give me a call. No one ever did. I followed up--no response. I left a voicemail to the general manager directly and never heard back. Then today there was water leaking from the ceiling in the pool room by the wall. I noticed when it dripped on me and saw there was already a big puddle on the floor. There were multiple holes/cracks in the ceiling and evident water damage. I told the front desk, one person followed me to have me point it out, then left. Forty-five minutes later nothing had been done no signs, bucket, cleanup, etc despite a bunch of extra staff around for a Nordic spa event. Staff were also talking about the steam room in the locker room being down but the one in the Nordic spa was working. It really feels like all the attention is on the new Nordic spa while the rest of the facility is suffering. Overall, just really poor communication and lack of upkeep.
