A big thank you to Body Renew Anchorage for helping me transform my life starting at the beginning of 2026. It has been four months now, and I feel strong and agile in my body. I was looking for a trainer that would actually listen to my requests and goals, as I have had some not great experiences in the past. I have been working with Jay three times a week. He has not missed a session (one of my issues from other gym/trainer experiences) and he always has an absolute winning, positive attitude. I came in about fifty pounds overweight and terribly out of shape. I am also not a gym person so this has been a big learning curve. Jay has always taken the time to respectfully and patiently answer my many questions. I am always impressed with his vast array of knowledge. And the staff midday, when I train, are just wonderful. Shout out to Sydney, Mia and Christian who are super friendly and helpful. They feel like my own cheerleading team! The gym is quite large and there are plenty of different machines to choose from. The members are all shapes and sizes and walks of life, and I don't ever feel shamed or excluded. If you are looking for your gym home, and especially if you are looking for a trainer, stop by and chat with Jay at Body Renew Anchorage! read more

Absolutely terrible gym. They overcharge you for your bi-weekly payments then will not tell you the reason. Their gym is also disgusting, nothing luxury here. Tanning beds are old and nasty + never cleaned, tanning beds have hair, dirt, and blood in them. As far as the rooms go they are filled with dust going up the walls. They do not take care of their gym. The staff as well are terrible and WILL mock you. Ive had multiple staff get off shift and then go out of their way to watch and glare to make me uncomfortable, not the kind of place you want to work out. The staff will also laugh at you if you are having a bad day or do not want to interact with them. Ive also seen staff actively touch and makeout with their s/o in front of customers along with touching and grabbing of parts... terribly inappropriate and gross, no one wants to see that. They also are 24 hours which would be nice if you didn't have to pay loads extra for it. It's not included in the membership, of course they would make it just another thing they can get money from. (they lock the doors on you at a specific time unless you pay more). Overall management, terrible. Employees, terrible. cleanliness, all time low. GO ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

if I there was a option to give these fucks no stars I would. let me start from here I started to work out here no longer for a week mind you not even long enough to pay my first bi weekly payment and then........... they canceled my membership witho notice or hesitation.... I did nothing in regards to break the CODE OF CONDUCT and then they gave Me a rude response read more

The ownership has a mental illness. This place is known for refusing to cancel accounts all the time for years and years now. Since this gym was built it has been low quality with 3 out of 4 of the showers not even being plumbed correctly to have hot water and poor design with the sauna right next to the toilets??? Aside from this they recently (end of 2023) got rid of the boxing and cross training room upstairs and have just continued in the downward spiral of the staff and managements poor attitude and carelessness. At this point you would be much better off going to Planet Fitness which even has more options of machines and bigger showers for literally 1/4 of the price. read more

Great place and amazing customer service! It's clean and is a good size gym. They have the cardio upstairs and the weight machines downstairs. Great place! read more

Ok so 1st off covid stuff. They are following all the required guidance and change as it changes. I have never felt unsafe in this place. Personal Training is great here more money than i want to spend but it's because it's worth it. They push you and keep you motivated and don't make you feel like a worthless person. Nick, John, Dragon and all of the trainers even if they are not yours are nice and kind. They always have smiles also. The full staff are very helpful. I can't speak to the classes they offer but they look fun. The personal training i can and I will say they are very good on education and getting you to think and act the right way for weight loss. If you chooses to follow or not is up to you. read more

Body renew is a scam. There is a reason that all of their other locations have closed, and they have been ran out of other states for their deceptive business practices. If you are trying to find a gym, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else in town. Body Renew has filthy gyms, tiny lockers, woefully underpaid staff (who act accordingly) and their their "trainers" do an online course, and their certification means absolutely nothing in the fitness world, and people get hurt because of it. They'll sure take your money every month after you go in and cancel until you retain counsel and have them threatened with legal action. Don't believe me? Look at the reviews from every other location in Alaska. Save yourself the headache and stress and go to any of the other gyms in S. anchorage. They're cheaper, cleaner and their staff lasts longer than a week. read more

I have been going to this body renew since September of 19. Its a five minute drive from the house. We signed up on the $10 a month deal with no time restrictions. It's always really clean, they occasionally run out of wipes but are good about having paper towels and Disinfectant to wipes down machines. They have plenty of different weight machines for legs, arms, abs, whole body, etc. down stairs then they have free weights, punching bags, Bosu ball and other items to use upstairs. Along with plenty of treadmills (22) , Eli pixels, stair climbers, stationary bikes, you name it. Unlike the previous gym I went to only had 8 treadmills I never have to worry about not getting on during peak times like 4-6. During COVID when they shut down for three months they had plenty of options on what to do with your membership. If I canceled I would loose my $10 a month. Some people that had really old plans, that were really good were cancelling and they can't get that back! I offered to keep paying my monthly due since they were still paying their employees and I got the yearly fee of $39 waved when it comes up in November. So win win for me and then. They also have personal trainers which you get one free session when you start but they sell it hard to you after that. Minus one star for really crappy WiFi. The music is also loud but most people have their own buds. There is childcare available(not post COVID yet) don't know what it costs. The changing rooms are nice, saunas available, lockers if you have your own lock or cubbies to put a coat by the entrance during winter. Overall I enjoy going here read more

I have been a member at Body Renew for over eight years. I work out four to five days a week, and enjoy the friendly staff and clean atmosphere. I have had several training sessions with Jack Ryan. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and listens to to help you with your work out goals. I highly recommend him. C.Von Gemmingen read more

I'm not looking to renew my body, but reold it, so this place works out just fine. I have been a few times and got a year membership because it has a bit of everything and is not the Alaska Club. I like the option of working out 24 hours a day, not that I've felt like it at 2AM, but I like the option of it. Unfortunately that's not an option at every location so I got the membership to use multiple locations instead of just one; I've only gone here so far though. Clean enough. I haven't used the sauna or showers yet, but I thought everywhere else was fine. Personnel have been adequate, from signing up to answering questions. Would recommend. read more

If a guy pulls up driving a blue creeper van with plates CJM188, you need to leave the gym ASAP. The dude's BO is like acid, enough to cause a severe burning sensation in your nose and throat. Remember the time you promised yourself you WON'T drink tequila anymore? Then you have that awesome night and became buddies with tequila only to throw up and feel like shit after? Yeah. Worse than that. Gym was great before he pulled in and will be great an hour after he leaves. read more

The gym side of body renew is pretty decent however this business is absolutely predatory when it comes to money. I had cancelled my credit card due to fraud and was completely unaware that body renew continued to rack up charges. You would figure a gym would just not let you in if you haven't paid for your pass right? Wrong. After they attempt to call you about a dozen times they send you to collections and destroy your credit. Icing on the cake is that they miskeyed my phone number whenever I started the membership so I never actually got those calls. Will inform people looking for gyms of these extreme practices whenever and wherever I get the chance. read more

It is hard to find a good gym in Anchorage.... but this place has a lot of problems. Be careful with the contracts and cancelation policy- they will charge you up the nose to leave. The place is never clean, and the the equipment is constantly breaking down. They even recently had a carbon monoxide leak that a gym member had to call in after the employees would do nothing about it. A few good things- the classes and instructors are great, and it is not too crowded. read more

I've been waiting until I've been at the gym for at least 3 months to post a review. Probably the cleanest gym I've been to in Anchorage, and I love that even when it's packed there's still other equipment to use to get a good workout in. I like that Body Renew is open until 10pm so it helps with my busy schedule! And honestly, if you haven't tried Michelle's cycling class you are missing out(BR2 ride)!! Her classes push you & keep you coming back. Especially with her fire playlists! I can't wait to try some other group classes that Body Renew offers. I saw other reviews about the billing aspect of Body Renew and honestly have had no issues or concerns about it. read more

IF you are fit and pretty DO NOT go ti this gym. The immature, insecure front desk staff can't handle it. Literally won't open the door, actively gather other staff to join their unprofessional childish behavior and even stoop so low as to name call. This was not one time but several times. It was made known that the bosses do not care. Seriously this is just child like jealous obnoxious mean girl behavior. If your are so unhappy in your life and bad at your job that you follow a customer around solely to roll your eyes or try to intimidate I suppose I feel sorry for you. However there is zero remedy or professionalism from the management. Instead of stepping up and expecting some common curtesy for their customers there remedy was to refund the gym pieces. I'm disgusted for our city that these are the businesses owners we have and sick to my stomach that this is the actions of adults. All of these people are what's wrong with the world. read more

Mirroring what many others have said, the gym itself is fine, but any kind of mishaps with billing, contracts, customer service and you're in for a wild and unpleasant ride. My account was not supposed to be active but Body renew was still charging. They got me for $470!!! When I called, it was taken to some sort of meeting for a determination, where they agreed to refund me a few months and an annual fee-- a total of around $143 bucks. Why they are making me eat the $327 is beyond me. They appear to be desperate for money (just had to close their east location) and are willing to jerk around their customers to make some extra dimes. The pleasant gym experience is not worth the administrative hassle!!! Go elsewhere!!!! read more

After reading some of the bad reviews I realize the same thing happened to me they over charged my credit card when I first joined under a special program that I was told the program ended two days before that I never did use the gym not even once , A total waste of money I will never recommend them ever , Don't waste your time going in there signing up that are in the pro any It hurt me really bad because I was really excited becoming a member there I haven't joined a gym sense read more

As far as gyms in Anchorage go, I feel that Body Renew is just the place to go for a good workout. I know a lot a people who have a membership here and it's great running into friends and co-workers during a workout. I come mostly to do the classes (Yoga, Pi-yo, Body blast, and Zumba are the favs) and the rest of the time is spent on the treadmill or the stationary bikes. There's quite a variety of classes that happen all day throughout the week. All the equipment is up to date or new, and well taken care of. This facility is my favorite out of all the locations for obvious reasons and the main one being that its the newest. The tanning booths are well taken care of, clean, and always have strong bulbs. I like tanning beds better, but can't complain about these booths here. The staff here is friendly and always willing to help or answer questions. For example: I'm hard of hearing and I take my hearing aids off when I know I'm going to sweat hardcore. I was in a weight training/cardio type class and the instructor had noticed I was hard of hearing... He'd made sure to face me when he was talking to the class so I could read his lips, and he made sure I understood the exercises he instructed us to do by showing them step by step rather than just talking like a lot of trainers will do... This is a great gym to have a membership to. Definitely a keeper. read more

Body Renew - Gyms Near Me - Anchorage, Alaska

WORST GYM EVER! DO NOT TRY AND PUT YOUR ACCOUNT ON HOLD. They will send you an email confirming the hold and then continue to charge you. This month I got double charged. My account is on hold until 8/27 as per their last email. I am health compromised and cannot go in public let alone to the gym. Now I'm trying to just cancel my account but they won't refund any of the double charge this month. So frustrated. read more

Be very aware of this company. They lack any customer service skills and will steal your money. I processed my cancellation back in June of this year. Keep in mind that they make you come in and process all this "official" paperwork to leave your membership. I was a member for over a year and met the required time before cancelling. I come to find out today after looking closely at my bank statement that they have stolen August and September membership fees from my account. That is over 140.00 in fraud and theft. I called to verify with my gym that my membership was cancelled. The guy who answer the phone, no mane provided, said my membership was cancelled and they were not charging my account. He of course gave me their normal blow off routing of calling another number that will not be open for a few more days. I told him that he could take my information and call to have it resolve and then he hung up the line and would not pick up the phone again when calling back. I processed this as fraud charges at my bank but now I have close my account and get new card information to all my other accounts. read more

I love body renew! I joined nearly a year ago and have found they offer a great range of equipment and have a very clean environment. the locker rooms are safe, and sauna is a great additional amenity! 10/10 would recommend. read more

This is a decent place for people who want a no-frills place to work out. Membership prices are reasonable for what you get, especially compared to the overpriced Alaska Club. I like that the facility has a lot of windows so you can get some natural sunlight during your workout. This location has weight machines and equipment on the first floor and cardio equipment on the second floor. There is good variety for both, but depending on when you go (such as 5-7pm during the week) it can be very crowded. My main issue with Body Renew is the locker rooms. The locker room's cleanliness is subpar at best. Lockers are frequently dirty (although not as bad as the Midtown location). The only cleaning in the locker rooms I ever see the staff do is vacuuming. This is one of the reasons I recently cancelled my membership. Besides a small sauna and some tanning booths, there aren't many other accommodations in the locker rooms, so if you want extras like that in a gym membership you won't find it here. They also don't provide towels, which strikes me as odd because I've been to much smaller, locally-owned gyms that provided towels. If you're like me and work a 9-5 Monday-Friday job with no flexibility, you might find it hard to attend classes or find a personal trainer. The class schedule changes monthly so some months may work better for your schedule than others. read more

First of all the place was just filthy, and it felt dirty. NO ONE was wearing a mask!!! No one cleaned machines after themselves. And the spray bottles in the wights area were empty, and the other stations, had one dirty towel per bottle??!! No wipes anymore. Frankly just disgusting, I don't plan to go back anytime soon, unless things improve. How masks are mandated, but no one is wearing them?! All the other gyms, Alaska club , and Planet Fitness are way better, with cleanliness and people are wearins masks. This is NOT acceptable read more

Always clean. Great bootcamp classes and perfect time for me. Lunch I spend with bootcampers. In the summer we had classes outside and it was great experience and beautiful memories. My favorite classes are bootcamp, Yoga evening classes And morning boost. I got a personal trainer day for my birthday from body renew. Also I love the price and club is open 24 hours. I enjoyed to be there. Met some great people. And with some of them became great friends. Showers are great. And perfect location. And had great time always. A lot of wonderful personal trainers and body builders who trains there daily. Best gym in Alaska So far one of my favorite. No pool. But I was ok with it. You can also get tan there. A lot of cardio equipment Kids a day care. Lovely stuff read more

It's an over priced Planet Fitness. Changing areas are dirty. Showers are never clean and mold is growing. Half of the wipe containers are always empty. The booking dept has screwed up my account four times. Make copies of any forms you sign for them. Personal trainers have a trainers only area. I have never seen a trainer use it. But there will be 3-4 trainers using the general equipment when I work out. The daycare hours in the summer suck and are almost nonexistent. The sauna is great. There is hardly a crowd which is nice. (No wonder people aren't here though) Honesty the only reason I haven't switched back to Planet Fitness is location. I would be spending the same amount in the extra gas to get there. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! Rude, unfriendly customer service and sales department. The gym has a dark, dingy feeling and reeks of body odor. They have small locker rooms and one stand up tanning bed which is either broken or booked. I had to file a dispute with my credit card company because body renew would not refund my membership at cancellation as promised. I would not suggest a membership at this business. read more

This is the worst gym I ever been to there customer service is out of whack and when I walked in it felt like the lady at the counter was racist and unwelcoming after spending 10 dollars on a day pass and being there for 10 mins I was kicked out of the gym there staff needs more training your suppose to go to a gym and feel good not go to the gym and have the staff make you feel like shit I don't understand read more

My husband and I joined the gym in November. This past month we were charged a 29 dollar fee as well as our monthly membership fee. When we called to get an explanation for this fee, we were told that is was an enhancement fee per our contract. Upon review of our contract, under the enhancement fee, our contracts state "Member agrees to an annual Enhanced Fee of the indicated amount to be drafted on the indicated date and every year that the member is a current as a condition of being a body renew fitness member". When I reviewed a friends contract, it states the amount of 29 dollars and the month that it is due, where our contract says as indicated. No where on our contracts does it state that we will pay a 29 dollar fee. It could be 0-100 dollars depending on who you talk to. We called several times requesting to speak to a manager and were rudely brushed off by the customer service representative. One of the ladies we talked to started that when they say "indicated" it means whatever they told you at the time that you are signing up. However, there is a clause in their contract that states "any verbal communication at the time I sign this contract is not held valid under Body Renew Policies. Only the signed agreement and addendum are valid" We called once again this afternoon and reached a woman claiming to have managerial authority. From the start of the conversation she didn't care to hear what we had to say and told us that we agreed to pay a fee and she is indicating to us now that it is 29 dollars. She said our request for a refund is denied and to feel free to contact the BBB or sue them, she doesn't care but we will not be getting a refund from her. The behavior was extremely uncalled for and disheartening that a companies customer service "manager" would treat people this way. It's a small amount of money to be arguing over, but the principle of how they treat their customers should not be over looked. We researched the company on the BBB and they have a bunch of claims against them relating to billing issues. I hope the company takes our complaint as a lesson to fix their contracts, as I will continue to inform people of the situation this company has put me in until they resolve the issue. read more

So after the threat of a fraud claim with my bank, and the threat of contacting the state attorney general's office as well as the BBB; suddenly they decided that if we can prove we moved away from Alaska we could get the money back in 3-5 business days. Sent them a signed lease dated November 6 2018. I will update to see how they do on the 3-5 day refund. Body Renew needs to retrain ever customer facing employee on proper service techniques. The way we were treated and talked to the entire time was unacceptable. Especially when they admitted it was their mistake from the very beginning. read more

I'll keep this short. -weights are racked wrong every time -weights get left on the ground -benches leather are cracking -employees sit on their phones and don't clean -personal trainers will use more equipment than they need, blocking others from using them -sauna broke for several weeks -one squat rack and one bench that are both often full $10/month plan has $60 startup fee $40 annual fee (60 days after starting) Membership is actually $18.33/month if you account for these fees. read more

A decent gym, ok membership fee (better priced than some places here in Anchorage), and my trainer is knowledgeable and helpful. So far so good. Haven't used the locker room yet and have no plans to. I live close to the gym so there is no need for that, plus I do not enjoy public locker rooms anyway. The open windows give the gym a welcoming feel. All of the equipment works well and is usually always clean. And all of the cardio equipment upstairs is great. Overall, if you want to get in shape and want to go to a nice gym with a overall clean facility, and only want to pay $39 a month, this is a good gym for you. Good location as well near South Anchorage. read more

Love it it's so good Amazing place to workout the best 10/10

Okay, so as you can tell by reading a lot of my other reviews, I eat out - a lot. All that eating out catches up with a girl eventually and at 32 years of age, it doesn't come off as easily anymore. I've had gym memberships off and on over the past decade, attending small gyms to large, gym networks. I had left my previous gym in mid-2010 after several dissatisfying experiences and just decided to be gym-free for a while. Well, that isn't an option anymore, so here I am! Anchorage finally has a decent selection of quality gyms that you don't have to get a second job or take out a second mortgage to pay for and Body Renew Alaska is one of those gyms. I called and made an appointment with Jace, who gave me an abbreviated run down of the memberships on the phone. I decided to go in and check out the facility and talk about membership options the next day. The facility is located on Old Seward between O'Malley and Klatt in the O'Malley Square building next door to Wendy's. My initial meeting with Jace went very well. We talked about the gym and my fitness needs and the various membership options. I decided to sign up. Every never member is able to have a fitness assessment done to give you a baseline on your current fitness level and to establish some goals for you to follow. Normally, I'm very resistant to this sort of oversight, but Jace was so approachable and had such a non-judgemental attitude. I really feel like they are interested in my overall health, not my weight or pants size. The facility itself is pretty basic with a small variety of cardio machines (elliptical, treadmills, recumbent bikes), some free weights and the Freestyle weight machine circuit. But everything is clean and even when I was there at noon on Saturday, I never had to wait for a machine. Yes, this gym is no-frills, but if you're like me and don't want to spend every waking minute at the gym trying to get your money's worth by using the hot tub and the steam room and whatever other member ameneties there may be. I'd rather save my money and go to a smaller gym where I can actually use the equipment when I want to use it rather than be forced to get on a sign up sheet because I have to wait for an hour just to use an elliptical trainer... I have to say I've been very pleased so far with my experience with Body Renew Alaska at this location and I'm looking forward to working off some of the good food I've been eating lately :-) read more

Great gym! Been going there for almost 10 years. Friendly staff, lots of equipment. Locker rooms are to small but they can be made to work.

First of all for this gym being as new as it is... Its poorly managed and not very clean. The staff sits behind their desk and looks pretty while there is dust all over the gym missing light bulbs lights that don't work as well as broken locker room doors. The staff is rude and poorly trained. Also canceling a contract is next to impossible. Any gym that will not give you the name and address of their corporate office is conducting some sort of shady business. Always ask for the name of the CEO Address and contact information for corporate is the will not give it then they are running a shady business. read more

Do you know the episode from Friends where Chandler "wants to quit the gym"? This gym is worse than that. They want your first born before you're allowed to quit the gym. It is THAT difficult to get out of their membership. The worst customer service and have the most pissed off person watching their front desk who is absolutely of no help. I had ask questions on 3 different occasions about putting my account on hold or quitting the membership and all 3 times they blew me off either by giving me another number to call or their casual "I'm pretty new". Their catch is that they're "affordable" but I can't deal with seeing dust mites everywhere whenever I sit down to stretch and trickling shower water pressure... Bottom line is that this place is dirty and if you're just looking to lift some weights, just go to planet fitness. read more

They do not have a clear cancellation policy. Beware if you call your club regarding your contact ending they will not let you know that there is a written 30 days that must be given. In response to below: I do not dispute the contract has 30 day written notice as part of it. I sorry that I was at work with out access to the contract at the time I called regarding the end of the contract, but you would think that the employee I called, and made it clear during call I wanted to end the contract, would have brought up the said 30 days written notice. Way to hide behind a contract and not take responsibility for poorly trained staff. But that might be because they are trained not to bring up the 30 days notice. I wonder now much they make off of that at 100-200 dollars per contract. Hummmm read more
