This practice defines what top physical therapy is and how knowledgable, caring medical providers…read morecan benefit patients. Often Dr. Jim Floyd, the owner of the practice and the doctor I have worked with more than 10 years, will save me money for my treatment versus seeing an MD, who may prescribe unneeded prescriptions, X-rays, MRIs, CTs, etc. I also like that I can go see Dr. Floyd and his staff for a few visits to figure out what's going on and start treatment immediately without a MD referral. Thanks to Dr. Floyd, I was able to fully recover from a herniated disc in my neck with no surgery or injections, in spite of two neurologist recommendations for surgery. Later, when I did actually need surgery, Dr. Floyd helped me through the process to find a shoulder surgeon who was the best fit for me, Dr. Justin Knight, and then has guided me from a sling during recovery to lifting weights overhead, returning to an active lifestyle, and feeling and moving much better than I was prior to the surgery. I've ended up with more range of motion than I've had in many years through my course of treatment with Dr. Floyd. Ascent and Dr. Floyd are a key part of my health and wellness team. Highly recommend!

I was assigned to Dr Brandon Young. Dr Young took time to examine my knee and identify what was causing the pain. He did a fantastic job explaining the injury and also explaining what I needed to do to help in it's healing process. Dr Young was professional, knowledgeable, patient and explained things so they were easy to understand. The owner, Jim, has worked with a lot of my friends and I'm so glad I came here when I was injured. I highly recommend Him, Dr Young, Will and the rest of the staff at Ascent!

I called and asked to cancel and was told that I had to use their app - which I didn't have - or come in because they could not cancel over the phone. Because I am in Charlotte most of the time, this was really difficult. I tried to download the app and cancel that way, but it was giving me tons of problems. Ultimately, I quit trying and forgot - until the following month when I got charged again. I called again prior to the next month's billing, and was told that I could come in to cancel, but that since it was past the 10th, I would still get charged on the 17th. I wrote a long, nasty, scathing letter saying I wanted to cancel both accounts and that under no circumstances did Planet Fitness have permission to charge my account again. That letter was delivered, and Planet Fitness still charged my account on 10/17, and then again on 11/17, and then again on 12/1 for "annual dues". When I called in, the employee laughed at me, and then said I had never canceled, and that I could drive from Charlotte to Columbia to cancel if I wanted to. I called back and asked for a manager, and was told I was speaking to a manager, and that person basically said the same thing, and then hung up on me when I told him they were thieves. After one more unproductive call, I simply called the Richland County Sheriff's office and filed a complaint for theft by unauthorized taking. After several more unproductive phone calls, I actually left work and went to a Planet Fitness location in Charlotte and told them the whole story and the person there logged into their system and canceled the account (yes, in spite of the fact that the Garner's Ferry staff repeatedly told me I could not cancel anywhere but the Garner's Ferry location.) Several days later, Planet Fitness has finally refunded me some, but not all, of the fees I was improperly charged. It should never be this difficult to cancel a service you no longer want, and in my personal opinion, the staff - particularly at Garner's Ferry Rd - are either incompetent or intentionally trying to steal from people, or perhaps some combination of both. I would not ever sign up for a membership there if my life depended on it.

Just when you thought the parking couldn't get any worse, this month they added MORE no-parking…read moresigns against the only remaining fence where people could safely parallel park up front. This comes after they repeatedly reduced up-front parking quietly throughout all of last year, first by reserving two spots at the front for EMPLOYEES (why should paid employees park in front of customers???) and then later by blocking the corners and some of the fences from being parked on for no good reason. Up-front parking at the new location is now beyond unacceptable for a gym that costs $70 per month, and it's a huge betrayal to long-time members like myself who have been coming here for years and remember back when there was plenty of up-front parking at the old Brickhouse. Now we have to drive 5 minutes further past old Brickhouse and (if you park in the overflow lot which is RIDICULOUSLY far away) you walk another 5 mins to the gym so you waste an extra 20 minutes round trip for every gym day. That's an hour per week wasted if you workout 3x. Who decided this was a good choice for the new gym??? The inconvenient location and parking far outweigh the larger size of the gym, which btw still doesn't have enough barbells for all the racks and still has outdated equipment in disrepair. I have tried to be patient and give them time to work out their childish quibbles with ETV over the closer overflow parking lot, but I'm not sure how much longer I will wait before canceling for good. Shame on Brickhouse for choosing this location knowing that the parking would be terrible and then deliberately making the parking even worse!!!
