Firkins is the place I go to buy that special gift…read more The shop is tucked away in a little alley called New Buildings off of Gandy Street which in turn is a beautiful cobbled street just behind the High Street and running parallel to Queen Street. It has amazing jewellery at fantastic prices. It has clothing and handbags and accessories mainly sourced from asia. You can always find that unique special item for a gift, the trouble is I always end up getting something for me as well as I have no willpower! The prices of the jewellry items in particular are very competitive and I have found that it is even cheaper than buying certain things online. The staff are very helpful and can tell you lots of information about the items for sale. They sell a lot of body jewellery too at very good prices. Unfortunately the shop is not disabled friendly as there is a small step into the shop and it is too small for wheelchair access. It also has a little mezanine area and there are tiny stairs down to another clothing area. Although the shop is very small I find I can spend quite a bit of time in there as it is crammed to the gills with beautiful items.

The gentleman who was in the shop was very friendly, you always knew he was on hand to help but was not overcrowding or pushing. It has a light, quiet, calming atmosphere. This is the place to go to buy beautiful gifts for a loved one who will appreciate the finer more delicate things in life. Lovely, lovely shop!
