For me this was not a good trip. I drink decaf coffee and they don't serve decaf there. Also I got a bagel, egg white, avocado and cream cheese sandwich for breakfast. The cream cheese was really soupy and did not have a nice scallion flavor to me. The egg whites felt like I was chewing on paper and I had to take that out and throw it away. The bagel was excellent. This restaurant gets a 4th star specifically for delivering promptly during the worst of Winter Storm Stella. It was my first time to try the Red Hook establishment. Some searching was required as most of my regular spots were closed or not delivering because of the weather. For that exact reason there was no way I was venturing out. What a terrible time it was to have a specific food craving. Mine yesterday was a tuna wrap. Once I finally found one on a menu I was faced with the choice between a tuna wrap and a tuna & vegetables wrap, which was on their favorites list. I have to admit to changing my mind numerous times, adding and deleting from the shopping cart. My tuna wrap selection was what I had been wanting. It was fresh & adequate, nothing spectacular. Spectacular was probably the tuna and vegetable wrap favorite that I didn't choose. There were a number of diner plate options that I plan to eventually try. The place features 50 specialty sandwiches,you really have to pick up one of his menus to see them all. I am a big fan of The Hot Italian Combo (being a hot Italian myself) which is Hot Sopersatta,Hot Ham,Pepperoni,,Provolone,Sun dried tomatoes and Roasted Peppers. The Other White Meat Hero of Roast Pork,Smoked Mozzarella,Apricot Butter,Romaine and Deli Mustard is also great. They use the freshest bread (same as Defontes) and also have a steam table which changes daily and could include Pernil,Meat Loaf,Baked Ziti,Chicken Parm and Beef Stew amongst others . There's a sign requiring customers to wear them, but none of the 5 employees wore a mask when I picked up my GrubHub order last week...and I went during a busy part of the day when you'd think it's especially important to wear them! You would expect this place to suck. It actually does suck after 7pm but before then get ready for some down home cooking. At 6am about eight men show up and start cooking (I've never had the breakfast so I can't vouch for it) but the lunch/dinner is really good. The meatballs are my favorite but the macaroni and cheese comes pretty close. Stay away from the meat loaf unless you like a pound of salt in your mouth (if you do it'll be fine). Don't go here after 7pm. The best they can do are bags of chips and if you're lucky the same "hero" you can get anywhere. We can't fault the food and have been ordering here for years but all of a sudden it seems everything has gone up $3.00. A bacon and egg on a roll and a chicken salad sandwich on rye with an iced tea should not cost $17.64. My most recent menu has a bacon and egg on a roll at $3.00 and a chicken salad on bread at $6.00. Large iced tea at $3.00. This has happened a few times lately. Ordered Sandwiches priced at 8.95 on the menu to find we were charged $10.95. Sandwiches at Court Street Grocers are almost $2 cheaper. After repeatedly calling I was lied to about both the timing and the location of the driver and aggressively told that he was outside when he clearly wasn't and then hung up on. If I could give zero stars I would. I've never dealt with anyone so rude and unprofessional. Myself and the company I work with will never use them again. I must say F& M Bagels is one of the beat places to eat in RedHook. The workers and Owner Frank make you feel very welcome. They are very friendly and welcoming. They are more than just a bagel shop There is so many options to choose From. And everything looks and taste delicious There potatoes and eggs omelette with mozzarella and bacon is one of my favorite The chopped cheese is delicious . From the steam table the shrimp scampi is to die for as well as there mash and meatloaf. There isn't one time that i wasn't satisfied. also the portions of food that you get for such a low price. I ordered 2 orders of french toast with cheese eggs one order with bacon one order with sausage and a side of home fries(i asked if they had homefries and was told yes). Instead of packing things neatly and separately everything was thrown all on top of each other. The sausage and bacon were stuck on the cheese eggs, i had cheese all over my french toast and they forgot my order of home fries. When i called to ask about the home fries, i was told they didnt have home fries and i had been sent hash browns instead (they should have told me they didnt have when i asked so i couldve chosen another option for myself)also which was not in my order. When the hash browns arrived they looked as though someone had gotten to them. They were all ripped apart. 25 dollars for something i wouldnt put infront of a dog. Wint be ordering again. We order breakfast for delivery from work very often. Sandwiches are inconsistent but decent. For instance today, I ordered a BLT hero and I received a stacked BLT, however it was on a stale round roll. The platters are also OK but nothing special, all served with soggy potatoes and matching toast. Expect that any orders over 3 items will get screwed up even when the order gets repeated back to you. We are visiting in Brooklyn for the week and we decided to try something recommended by our hotel. We ordered 2 coffees, one wrap, one sub, and 2 cheesecakes to be delivered. When the food arrived over an hour later, we realized we were not given our cheesecakes. I called and informed them and I was told that they don't have any cheesecake. I asked for a refund and they argued with me and then refused to give my money back. They didn't even try to call me and tell me they were out of cheesecake or refund my card immediately after they realized it. Total rip off of a store and the food wasn't even good enough for the headache. Definitely would never order from this place if we visited the area again. F and M is the best food spot in Red Hook period. These guys know what theyre doing when it comes to food. I've tried every other place around and no one does it better. Breakfast is exceptional, they always "Hook" up that bacon egg and cheese. Lunch is just as good, if not better. If you havent been there for breakfast or lunch then your meals are just average. Possibly the friendliest, most lovely people (brothers I believe) who own and run this place. Perfect hangover breakfast sandwiches delivered so speedily:) They definitely tend to over serve you for their lunch dishes, even when you ask for a small. They also make yummy fruit smoothies which I don't think they advertise on their menu boards. Wish they made paninis for the winter, or some soup options but I just had to write a review as they are all so nice and put a smile on your face with their kindness and manners.
