My past experiences with…read moremassage clinics that have tried to expand has not been favorable, so I made my appointment with a bit of trepidation. Boy was that just silly. Chen's Massage Clinic was a quick easy drive following my workout at Premier Fitness. Chen's is located right across the street from 4 Rivers Smokehouse on Thomasville Rd. Easy to find and plenty of parking. The clinic is cozy and on the first floor, which was nice seeing I had just trained legs at the gym and looked like a one year old trying to walk. Stairs would have been the end of me. I walked in right on time and the place was busy. That was my first good sign. They immediately brought me to my room, which was quite large and actually had two tables set up with plenty of extra room to spare. I undressed as instructed and slid under the sheet. Ooooooh nice... the beds have a warming pad built in. I love places that use a thin sheet to drape you rather than some grandmother's giant 100 pound quilt. With the heat from the bed and a nice thin sheet I was already happy. After a few moments Chen herself came in to give my massage. It has been three years since I last visited, but she remembered. The original location had loud neighbors three years ago, but not this place. The lighting was perfect. The sound was whisper quiet. The bed was toasty, and the second Chen started my massage I knew I had made a great decision. This woman has STRONG hands. I'm talking the kind of hands that could crush rocks if they had to. My sore muscles didn't stand a chance, and I have some pretty good size muscles. By the way, you should never ever challenge this lady to a thumb wrestling contest. Not only would you lose, but your thumb would be smashed flat. The pressure she used was just what I needed. It was slightly more than I thought I could handle, which was perfect. I came in with chest pain from an over zealous workout yesterday, combined with major back pain from incredibly tight hip flexors. Chen went over my entire body like a pro for an hour until every muscle surrendered and I was left limp as a rag. A very happy and pain-free limp rag. This lady knows what she's doing, in fact, out of the hundreds and hundreds of massages I've had across the nation, I would rank Chen at the very top of the list. I give Chen's Thomasville Road Massage Clinic 5 stars for location, 5 stars for an incredible massage, 5 Stars for comfort, 5 stars for how quiet the room was and 5 stars for Chen's amazing personality. If you're looking for the best, then you found it. Now that I'm working in Tallahassee it will not be 3 years before I'm back next time. I know you'll want to go too, so when you do... tell her the strong man sent you, and then get ready for the best massage you'll ever have. (I have not been compensated for this review. I came in with horrible edema. I had fluid around my chest and gripping my lungs. Breathing was…read morevery difficult. My ear had scar tissue from a previous plastic surgery procedure and my legs were huge! Walking was very difficult. I investigated several people for Lymphatic Drainage, knowing that if not done correctly, it can hurt you and be counterproductive. I could not drive and could barely walk without holding onto something. I found Pam Moyer, who was trained in the Vodder Technique of manual lymphatic drainage. Let me tell you- it was not what I was expecting! How can such a gentle touch produce such spectacular results? I don't know but it worked. After the session, I was very tired and went home and rested. I also "disposed of a lot of liquid" afterwards. (Nice way of saying I peed a lot). The following morning the band that had been like a vice on my lungs had disappeared and I would breathe with ease. While hydrating, I was getting rid of fluid as fast as I could take it in. The size of my calf's and ankles went down. I had to have more of that magic so I booked another session. I was so much better that I could actually drive myself this time! This session concentrated on the ear scar tissue (it was much looser) and my legs and ankles. And then back up to my lungs again. Two days after this session, my legs looked thinner and the edema was much better. I discontinued us of Lasix for the edema because it was so much better. My calves were down another 2 inches! Pam gave me all kinds of hints to use at home and she was willing to answer my questions and share her knowledge. I don't understand how it works completely but I know that she has some magic in her hands. I will be going to her for the Lymphatic Drainage as needed. (I anticipate a few more sessions). They also have massages and facials here so I can't wait to book a nice deep massage! I can only say Thank You, Pam, for all that you've done for me. I'm walking. I can breathe and I can drive again. I must have been a basket case for her since I had just been released from the hospital after 6 days and I was pitiful. Now, I am getting better all the time thanks to Pam and the Lymphatic drainage.
