Well, I got home Monday from a 6 day-5 night stay at Hotel Waccamaw as we lovingly refer to it, or…read moreTidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet. It was a long visit this time. My 3rd in two years. I was on 3 West. The staff was excellent. I was on a regular diet. The food was good; not fancy, not like I'd make it myself, but good! Foodservice staff were very pleasant. I worked in healthcare foodservice as my career and can appreciate what they do. The food was hot, or cold if appropriate, on time, and accurate. In any event, I'll be back in July for surgery and hope to have another good experience.

We walk in to an empty room, no nurse or staff to greet you, just a kiosk that you have to fill out in the midst of an emergency. I have never experienced something to counterintuitive. While trying to fill out a kiosk, my husband goes to try to find a nurse to help us because my son is losing oxygen. He finally sees someone in the triage on the computer and tries to notify her by knocking on the door. SHE YELLS AT HIM THAT SHE WILL BE THERE IN A MINUTE. She takes several minutes and then swings the door open to begin yelling and my husband and I that she is not just "playing with her thumbs, that she's busy" while my son is still struggling to breathe. Her name was Caity and she certainly does not belong in the healthcare profession. She is the furthest thing from a professional I have ever seen in a hospital. Very alarming to yell at patients parents instead of helping the patient (who is five and can not breathe.) She then proceeded to take us to a room where she aggressively wrapped the oxygen sticker around my sons finger, to the point it cut off his circulation and had to be removed and adjusted. I will ensure to post this on my personal social media as well as multiple local pages, file a formal complaint and explore other various avenues to notify other parents that this is a dangerous place to bring your children. On a side note, I went to the restroom and there was no soap. In the hospital. Not even a trash can, but a paper back on the floor people seemed to be just throwing trash in. I have truly never seen anything like it.
