As a last resort, to be honest, I decided to try acupuncture. I found the listing for Kern Acupuncture and read the one review, and called to make an appointment. I tried to get in that same afternoon, that's how desperate I was, but they could accommodate me the next day. My first impression of the place is that it is very clean, neat, and organized. The front office staff is very friendly and professional. I had to fill out my medical history and first meet with the acupuncturist, known to me as "Dr. " Lee. The "Dr." is very professional and thorough. She interviewed me and followed up on my medical history, and listened to my explanation of my injury, and where I am was feeling pain. She also did iridology and pretty much nailed my ailments based on my eyes. I was very impressed! After our initial consultation, I received an acupuncture treatment. I wasn't sure what to expect other than what my friends had told me, but it is not painful. They were right..."Dr." Lee was very gentle. She inserted needles in key areas, and I immediately started to feel relief. Not only did my foot stop hurting... I felt other areas of my body beginning to let go of the tension. Over a period of a month and a half I saw the acupuncturist twice a week in the beginning and then switched to once a week. The results have been amazing because the pain in my foot has been subsiding and going away. Some days I don't have any pain at all. The last two times I received a treatment I was so relaxed, I actually fell asleep on the table. After the needles are taken out, I am hooked up to an electronic machine that helps my muscles contract and relax. I was not expecting these results when I went in, not only has my foot pain subsided, I feel that I am more flexible and can drop into a full squat, which I could not do when I first went in to see "Dr. " Lee. I really wish acupuncture was routine in our every day HMO care. I am a firm believer, and in fact, I have been targeting my frozen shoulder to continue encouraging it to heal. The best part about this is that my HSA covers the weekly expense for treatment. I feel so lucky this practice exists right here in Bakersfield! If you have been suffering from an ailment, and nothing has helped, I highly recommend that you pay "Dr." Lee a visit and give her an opportunity to work with you. Dr. McCan doesn't take insurance - which is totally fine because the price he explained is more than fair - but said that if I called him back with a list of providers that do accept my plan, that he would help me make a decision on where to go. This kind of generosity of time is invaluable, especially as someone seeking adjustment for the first time. When we spoke again he helped me with advice based on my pain and was extremely friendly and kind. Might not have gone into his office... but I absolutely would based on two minutes on the phone. My son was in excruciating neck pain. I believe God guided us here . As a mother I was scared I didn't know what the end results would be or if I would end up in the ER. Dr.McCan took us in immediately he saw the worry on my face and how much pain my 9 year old was in. He adjusted him once and my son cried more, at this point I put all my faith in God. Dr.McCan asked us to wait with an ice pack. After about 3 mins the tears stopped flowing he began to breathe again after a couple more minutes he adjusted him again. I could cry my son was no longer in pain!! I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs. I can't be more grateful for him and God that guided us here .
