He did an exam and found no evidence of diabetic neuropathy. Years later I did become diabetic. When I told Dr. Shepard, he shared with me his experience, and why one of his professional interests is diabetic neuropathy. It was reassuring to learn this information and I really felt that my eyes were and are in good hands. He and his staff take very good care of my eyes.

It started Aug. of 2024 with an annual diabetic eye exam which is 0 co pay for that exam.My ins. is…read morehumana advantage with ncdot. retired.2025 missed that exam Rocky Mount Eye did not schedule me said they would did not.6/11/2026 had another diabetic eye exam and Miss Amber in charge of billing said no copay for this.I have had 3 bills sent to me since saying I owe $40 co pay.My insurance contacted with being hung up on from Miss Amber The problem is they code as regular eye exam for which in not correct.I would owe for regular eye check up.Miss Amber said was coded correctly,no it is coded as regular eye check up.Miss Amber has hung up on me 3 times now about this.My insurance has told me they have dismissed me as a patient now.RME has not told me this.I have contacted Miss Amber now and she said take my business elsewhere over her coded wrong.My $40 credit they took from me.Bill now I do not owe and will not pay that because I do not owe.They have not lost 1 patient but 2.My wife is blind in left eye and she is patient at RME.I drive for our dr. appointments.Miss Amber said she had a lot of patients to get to and hung up on me 3rd time.I am owed $40 refund which will not get.Miss Amber said this is my fault she coded wrong.My insurance has told them this is on them not me.Now my insurance is backing them for them coding wrong.What in the hell are you suppose to do.They have blocked my phone number now.Better Business Bureau does not list them as a viable business wish I known from beginning .No use complaining to BBB they do not do anything either.Tried to get up with Dr. Thomas Robinson owner or Miss Lisa Robinson Head of operations what a joke I am blocked from them too.Niw please do not go to these people with Miss Amber cannot code correctly.How many other people have they done like me.I am low income and this sucks.3.4 on reviews is not to good and is getting worse all the time.I hope you see before becoming patient here.Have a bless day,thank you for your time,Carroll

Let me start by saying we have no complaints with the staff, the exam, or quality of glasses. Our…read moreissue is with Eye Care Center's billing. About 3 months after receiving and paying for our glasses we received a random bill for almost $200. I went back to the store, but the staff there are unable to assist at all, as ECC has centralized their billing - the best she could do was give me a call center phone number, which is in New York. Apparently ECC billed my insurance for *different* lenses than I received, got a slightly larger insurance pay out, and then a computer glitch somehow added the amount they already got paid in insurance to the difference in cost between the 2 lenses, and keep sending me a bill for that amount. They send me constant texts saying I owe them money (2-3 per week), and every time I call I get routed to someone with an Indian accent that says they 'will escalate' the issue for resolution. It's been months. It's really a shame, because we liked the staff and location, but I would NEVER risk going there again based on these shady billing and insurance practices.

She did not have the competence or patience to be a manager imo. After leaving messages to her 4 times over a week, I finally got to talk to her after a 5th call.. She said they weren't running a free clinic. I never ever said they were. If she knew how to file medicare for me (I have diabetes), she would have known that medicare covers the full amount of my eye exam ($215) because of my diabetes. Instead she filed with medicare and no diabetes so of course medicare charged a copay and deductible. So instead of getting my $215 back, i will receive $54 (who knows when), and I assume they pocket the rest. I am elderly and on a fixed income and really needed the money. To my knowledge, they didn't do a diabetic eye exam, where they should have specifically focused on the health of my retinas and integrity of the blood vessels in my eyes.
