Our son began wearing glasses at age 6. He began wearing contacts when he was 10. By age 12 his vision was such that he couldn't use the bathroom in the middle of the night without needing glasses. Having just moved to the Fay area, we needed to establish care with an eye doc. Happened across Eye Medics website and saw this crazy thing about SleepSee lenses. Immediately realized this might be an option for our son to not only help slow down his vision loss, but also help with managing glasses, contacts, and (as he had been swimming competitively since age 5) prescriptive swim goggles. Not yet sure about the lenses, but knew the kiddo needed an annual exam. So made an appointment (receptionist was super friendly!) Dr. S needed one reminder to slow down just a tad with my special needs kiddo. And from then forward he did. He was very patient in answering all of my questions about the pros and cons of SleepSee (Ortho K) lenses. And as the receiver of LASIK 20 years ago, I had a lot! Dr. S explained that the night lenses he specializes with aren't typical. He has invested in special equipment that maps out each eye taking special measurement, and then he reviews the report, makes any adjustments needed, and has the contacts specifically made for each eye. Talked with the husband and came to the conclusion of "how can we NOT do this for our child?" The only downside to the entire process was having to go back for multiple (3 or 4?) short visits to ensure the lenses were fitting properly - not because they weren't, but because Dr. S wanted to ensure they were right. This required our son to miss some school. Fast forward three years. Our son is now 16 and has been wearing Sleep See lenses for around three years. THEY ARE MAGIC! The initial cost is a bit steep, but when you consider the cost of glasses, contacts, goggles . . . over two years, it just about evens out! The huge bonus is the preservation of/slowing down of degradation of sight! After the initial investment, the lenses are far less expensive when they need replacing (about the cost of a pair of glasses). The first set of lenses lasted our son just over two years (just as Dr. S predicted) before one lense snapped in half while my son was cleaning it. The second set of lenses took a few extra days to come in (around the holidays) so Dr. S was was kind enough to provide a disposable soft contact lens when mono-vision was giving headaches. This review would be amiss if I didn't also rave about the receptionist, Rose. The woman must have a photographic memory as she remembers us when we walk in and treats us like great friends with a genuine smile and hello. When I've called to get an appointment or ask a question, she refers to some off-subject something we spoke about long ago. She makes it feel good to walk into the office! read more

This unprofessional doctor does not meet the needs for single parents of various socioeconomic backgrounds . Facts I'm a single parent of 7 year old twins and a 14 yr old son with no adult supports therefore I don't have the luxury of leaving my kids with someone or getting some one to take them to appointments while I'm occupied with the other child. Now if I have no choice and I was informed in advance then I would have schedule early enough to pick one kid up while leaving the other in school but no signs are posted in office, nonething mentioned when you call the number to office and nonething posted on website that would have prepared me for such a visit. So once I brought my child for an appointment I was told that my other kid could not be brought in the back with the child that was being seen yet I had to be present with the kid that he was seeing in the room. So what am I too do , when I'm already at the appointment . he literally felt it ok to have me sit outside of the room with the door open literally two feet from where he was examining my child . I felt embarrassed . So reviewers of this review, is it best for the client #1 privacy to be violated by keeping door open or his issue with not wanting my other kid in the room with me and my child that he is working with?? Clearly in this case, his interest went before the interest of the child and parent, (((so patient being first clearly is not anything that he honors ))) ((. No signs were posted of his "made up today policy "( the name I gave it)) , none thing mention when you call for appointment, and nonething on the website. my kid was not loud, didn't move from they seat. Now I get kids acting out , breaking things disturbing people peace. My child was tired and sleepy. Next incident happened today ,9-18-24 @1 pm. I knew I should have trust my gut instincts because he is not friendly with me, it's as if he has a problem with single black mothers because when I observe him with others he sounds so kind to them but that's not what I get and yes blacks can discriminate against they own race. But I didn't feel like getting a new doctor and it's not like I got to see his hateful ass often so I went today but I received an work call and had to take it , he tells me don't allow phones in his office. I said fine and walked out to the waiting room area , not mad, just focused on the important call. Not one sign on the wall . Afterwards once my son work was finished he calls me to the back I assume it's about my son BUT AGAIN he makes it about himself and waste my time by telling me again about this law . I stopped him in his tracks to address my son care and he tries to argue with me by Bringing up his rules that were mentioned twice . So again , he ignored my interest only to overexert his authority and and opinions over telling me about my son visit. I HOPE HE IS PROUD OF HIMSELF BECAUSE HE MADE IT ABOUT HIMSELF AND NOT ABOUT MY SON!!! Another point, if the law you claim is a law no one abides by it cause I've never been told that by another doctor. why did you engage in me breaking the law by taking me to a room while my kids were unsupervised to discuss the law you claim I was breaking by me allowing you to offer a service to my child while I was in the wait room with the other child. I have never in my life met such a nasty , rude and disrespectful doctor in my life with such strong narcissistic tendencies. I pity what his staff and wife have to go through and it's unfortunate that she had to lose me as a patient because of her husband lack of compassion . His wife and staff have a beautiful personality and He could really take notes from her and the staff that works under him on how he treats single mothers and to think I gave him a good review last year, he gets no stars and I take back everything I said I the last review and I pray God humbles him for how he treats people that are not doctors. read more

It's very hard to find quality doctors with quality staff in Fayetteville, so when you do find this rare doctor, you have to let Yelp know. Dr. Singletary is it! His office is in an amazing location, not in one of those crowded medical malls. His office decor and design are quality; I did not feel like I was in Fayetteville. He was very thorough with my routine exam. He explained everything in a way that a non-medical person (like myself) could understand. Dr. Singletary and his staff are the best vision specialists I have ever encountered in my life. My family has been visiting his office since 2007. (See more below.) We gladly travel from Raleigh, NC to Fayetteville, NC (about 80 miles one way) to visit their office because they are that good. My entire family has their regular check-ups there and we're never disappointed. To-date, their prescriptions are so precise that I have never had anyone prescribe lenses that gave me such incredible visual acuity! I tried two different doctors in Raleigh, but they just couldn't match Dr. Singletary and his staff, so we're returning to him later this year. I initially went there because I read about Ortho-K, hard contact lenses are worn overnight and taken out in the morning that corrects the vision during the day without needing glasses or contacts. As it turned out, I wasn't a candidate, but I was a candidate for hard lenses and my wife's soft lenses were up for renewal, too. My son had his first vision test at the tender age of five. We were seen nearly immediately. They did the glaucoma test with the puff of air against the eyes, then my vision was measured by a separate machine, and I'm not sure which machine does it, but a photo was taken of my retinas, too. After a short wait, Dr. Singletary came in and showed me my results. The retina indicated I had high cholesterol(!), but the vision test yielded a different result than my prescription: the acuity was fine, but the astigmatism was different. During the 2nd more in-depth exam following the initial exam with the machines, Dr. Singletary examined my eyes as no one had ever done before. He asked and I granted permission for drops to relax my irises so he could more thoroughly examine my retinas. He also gave me drops for a direct pressure test on my corneas for glaucoma. Finally, he noticed I had dry eyes and did a test for moisture. Results: no glaucoma or retina problems, but I definitely had dry eyes, and so I was not a candidate for soft lenses. As a result of fairly good acuity and double astigmatism (cornea and lens), I was not a good candidate for Ortho-K, but my wife was! But Dr. Singletary asked me if I'd like to try hard contact lenses, and I was interested. He measured my eyes with a machine that looked an orange version of the tunnel from the original "The Time Tunnel" series back in 1968. But the measurements were extremely precise to get an exact fit for a hard contact lens. When my lenses came in about two weeks later, I tried them on. Aside from an initial discomfort that lasted about 30 seconds, I barely noticed the lenses were on at all! I also accepted a prescription for replacing the lenses in my glasses. With that prescription, I had never seen more clearly in my entire life. My wife also said the same about her prescription. For my dry eyes, I returned for a follow-up appointment. Dr. Singletary was able to insert two plugs in my eyes to help increase the moisture level of my eyes. But I also needed a diet change including a vitamin/mineral update along with better eye drops. The moisture content did increase, I've had much less eye irritation, and the near-continual redness in my eyes has nearly completely disappeared. As for my then-5-year old son, though my wife and I are near-sighted, he was far-sighted. He was homeschooled but was having trouble focusing on his work. It turned out he was having trouble visually focusing! Dr. Singletary prescribed lenses for him and advised us that he would probably grow out of his prescription as this was fairly common for children. As it turned out, by the time my son was 10-11 years old, he was able to see near and far without issue. I keep telling people how good Dr. Singletary and his staff are and that the drive to his office is a small price for the consistently phenomenal results we have experienced. But best of all, Dr. Singletary and his staff take a personal interest in us and are genuinely concerned about our vision as well as our overall health. read more

I was referred to this place of business by my pediatrician that suspected my newly turned one year old had developed an astigmatism. I gave the rating that I did because this place is advertised as "pediatric friendly" however I think differently after our visit. Dr. Singletary was the recommended provider to assess my son. When he attempted to began my sons assessment, my son had a fit. Come to find out I think my son has "white coat syndrome". I tried all my tricks to get him to calm down, but he wasn't having it. The Dr. stood up, told me he was going to step out of the room so that my son would calm down. He was gone for about five minutes, came back in and attempted for a second time to assess my child. I felt as if Dr. Singletary was very impatient and bothered by the fact that my child was screaming his head off. The provider then stated that "I should reschedule for another time when my child would be more relaxed" I am not too sure when that time would be, being that he is a busy one year old. Before I left Dr. Singletary was able to explain the little bit of information that he was able to obtain from my sons assessment. One plus from this visit was that Rose at the desk was so sweet and friendly. I am a registered nurse and have worked as a pediatric nurse.I understand it can be challenging when trying to assess a child that is fussy, and uncooperative. I just felt as a mother, and a nurse the care and experience we received could have been better. read more

I have no words to explain how wonderful Eye Medics is. They are really like family to my family. Between the four of us, we have seen both of their doctors and LOVE their front office staff as well! They have been taking care of my family of 4 for about 10 years. They have given my daughter the gift of perfect sight using her sleepSEE contacts (that she wears at night only), and they are the only practice in town that does this. All 4 of us in my family are glaucoma suspects and they follow us very closely, ordering the appropriate tests to help us maintain our vision. One of the doctors even made a very unusual and difficult diagnosis for me personally, and sent me to the correct specialist (who could not believe that she picked up on the subtle signs of my condition.) I am a medical professional and I refer to this office all of the time, especially for my pediatric patients.
