The Tutoring Center was (by far) the most welcoming, professional, and genuinely interested in helping him. The assessment process was very organized and the results and recommendations were clearly evidence-based and tailored for my son's specific needs. My son liked the tutors and they were very patient with him (he can be a little resistant to writing). Over the months, he has improved significantly in his writing skills and confidence. The key difference is that they don't make your child fit into an existing program--they tailor a plan to fit your child's needs. Right down to pairing the right tutor with the child. And the tutors are brilliant. The owner takes a special interest in every child's academic needs. She is genuinely invested in my child's success. She introduced my younger daughter to a new way of looking at mythology that got her excited about learning! She helped my older daughter with conversational French. For starters, it feels great to be enrolled again after a lengthy break. We started out with the kids attending Kumon and just going for it. When they were leaps and bounds ahead of their grade levels and peers, we scaled it back to summer enrollment. Then COVID happened and now we are finally back again, but to be honest? I wish we never stopped! Fear grips us all differently and unfortunately the pandemic had us not doing much in the way of being out. On that note, Mrs P and staff are amazing about how they are handling things with the children at the center. They are spacing out sessions (which need to be reserved in advance), and masks are not required but gently encouraged. There is also now the option for the kids to do their sessions from home via Zoom. During our time away both of my kiddos have slowly back peddled academically and that makes me sad but what it also does is prove how effective the Kumon program truly is. Mrs P's own children are shining examples of what programs like this combined with parent involvement can result in. I have watched them do the program, work at the center with their mother, graduate high school at the top of their classes, and both be accepted into an Ivy League University. Everything about Mrs P, her family and the Kumon staff INSPIRES us. We feel so grateful that they welcome us back year after year and we will always highly recommend this method of academic enrichment.

David explained their philosophy & curriculum, and made sure we were a good fit for what they offered- this is not just an after-school free play program. We were invited to sit in on a class, which we did. There is a fully printed & bound curriculum workbook that coincides with the daily lesson plans. They have their own printed posters & supplies (nothing is cheaply thrown together here). The teachers are topnotch bilingual & trained- which I personally appreciated as there are other programs that just think because someone speaks Spanish, that automatically qualifies them to teach. Not so. Most importantly is that my daughter enjoys going to Spanish. I was worried that she'd get burnt out or bored and that it would become pulling teeth to get her to go. NOT EVEN CLOSE! The curriculum is engaging & interesting, her teacher is responsive and encouraging, the class size is small and the children are friendly. We are 4 months in, and my daughter sings in Spanish, teaches ME Spanish words, translates material, talks to others and orders her own food at Mexican restaurants in Español. We recently went on a family trip to Costa Rica and she was interacting the the locals and acting as our interpreter the entire time. The structure in the ST classroom (full immersion, no English spoken) enables the kids to think in Spanish as they learn, rather than translate the English words into the Spanish words in their brains. The teachers are all native speakers which means the kids are learning proper accents and enunciation. The curriculum is tailored to the kids' level and is clearly communicated to the parents at the beginning of the year and throughout the year. There are also several presentations per year where the kids present on various subjects, as well as progress reports given to parents. Overall, a phenomenal program and I would highly recommend it.
