He in particular complained about not being able to remember math facts and other concepts taught in class. We decided Learning RX would be the perfect training to help him overcome these short falls, close gaps and get him ready for middle school. He was matched with the perfect trainer and all objectives were achieved and more! Our son is in 7th grade now and enjoys year round swimming, Boy Scouts and being in the National Junior Honor Society. He is a successful student in the accelerated STEM program at JN Fries Magnet School. Our daughter has always been a successful AIG student who balances many plates. We felt that Learning RX would help her do this more effectively and have not been disappointed. Through training with her perfectly matched trainer, she has been able to excel in all areas, both academically and extracurricular. She is an extraordinary student in the very accelerated International Baccalaureate program at JN Fries Magnet School. She enjoys dancing ballet, jazz, contemporary and performing year round, Girl Scouts, National Junior Honor Society membership and is an accomplished violinist. Learning RX has been an outstanding program and has met the varied needs for each of our children. First, there is no General Academic Knowledge section of the test given (for students over 3rd grade). Second, there is a "fluency" score which is a measure of how fast they perform certain portions of the test. It was very distracting to my student that the tester was turning on and off an timer. Overall, I do not think this was a positive testing experience and my student's scores are not an accurate reflection of what he knows.

Angela P., the owner, worked for years in CMS as a curriculum head and is really dedicated to getting kids excited about learning, and her rates are extremely reasonable, especially when compared to Kaplan and other test-prep/tutoring services! The space is very bright and cute, with a modern design sensibility. The receptionist area is small and neat, followed by a larger great room that probably seats 65. Most of the tutors seem to be current teachers and they go the extra step to make sure the lessons are connecting. Amplified has recently begun offering the space for creative classes like jewelry-making and crafting demonstrations, and useful things like financial literacy. It's a perfect fit for parents, especially if you're already bringing your kids there to learn too. The space is in a shopping center dominated by the Harris Teeter, so there's plenty of free parking. Is it obvious yet how much I heart this place?
