From the very beginning with calling and speaking to Nick and the whole process was smooth with booking my appointment to when I walked in for my actual appointment and being greeted again by Nick. Then I was greeted by Olivia the technician while in the room who was so kind to not only me but more importantly my baby who had already at the time went through so much with her eyes. When Dr. Bergen arrived she was so informative, attentive and answered all my questions. I appreciated her taking the time to even visually show me what was going on with my baby's eyes as I am a visual learner. We took our German Shepherd mix here after having been referred by our primary veterinarian for potential ulcers/eye disease. Every single person we encountered provided professional care and were just wonderful. Nick was up front and very welcoming when we first arrived. Our German Shepherd is somewhat reactive in new places and Sandy, our Vet Tech, worked with her in such a great way to make her comfortable. She and Dr. Kaminsky both took the time to really make sure Ripley was comfortable despite all of the invasive eye exams she needed. Overall we are super impressed!! I have to say that I have been extremely disappointed in the quality of service that I received at this location on multiple occasions. Most recently, I tried to refill my prescription for my dog and was immediately told that I would need to make an appointment. Though I didn't have any qualms with making the appointment, I have other obligations including work that would make it difficult to meet within their scheduled dates for this coming holidays. I kindly asked that they schedule me for an appointment after New Years while also requesting a refill for the current prescription. The doctor refused to even refill the prescription for my dog which is ludicrous. Is it so unreasonable to get a refill on the prescription that lasts until the appointment is made? On top of that, the service and temperament towards customers has been disappointing on multiple occasions. I understand that they are busy, but they display a lack of empathy and care within their actions within each interaction. I really question their sense of morality with how they treat pet owners. I will not even go into my other negative experiences a this location. But I do not recommend this location and am currently looking into a new location. read more

I took my fur baby to his regular vet because he was having a hard time keeping his left eye open. Upon closer inspection, the vet recommended an eye specialist. I didn't realize there was such a thing, but I only had my doggie's well-being in mind, so I called right away and was able to get in the next day. Upon arrival, I noticed a welcome whiteboard in the waiting area with the names of all new patients. There was our name. I was touched by that gesture and immediately knew we were in good hands. The veterinary assistant walked my baby to the examination room and within 20-30 minutes, she walked him back and Dr. Fritz wasn't too far behind. Dr. Fritz spent at least a half hour with me thoroughly going over what he identified, remedies, and expectations. I was so impressed by his relaxed demeanor because it put me at ease. The time he took to answer questions was very much appreciated. We walked out that with a few medications and went back for a follow up visit two weeks later. He was pleased with the results but shared that we were looking at a lifelong daily regimen for treatment. It's a completely doable regimen and if it makes my doggie feel better, I'm going to do it. I have been taking my dog, Kazu, here for a year sine he started developing cataracts. The doctors here are very thorough and very honest ... they don't tell you that you have to fork out thousands of dollars right then and there. Kazu has been on a steady program of eye drops and it has been helping with keeping things at bay. I am just really impressed with their honesty and professionalism. After a recent unpleasant visit with our primary vet left us deciding we'll no longer be clients of their animal hospital, we are very appreciative for the care, attentiveness and process that the staff at Eye Care for Animals Upland practiced at our recent appointment with them. While curbside/telemedicine services are still in practice at Eye Care for Animals, one simple thing that they did that the other animal hospital did not was that a technician met with us outside, off the parking lot away from moving vehicles, to collect our dog and ask us for brief history and information regarding our visit that day- I did not even need to ask for someone to talk with in person outside. This simple act provided a very efficient, safe, and positive visit which was a relief given the turbulent visit we just had at the other animal hospital. I look forward to the day when these curbside services/telemedicine are no longer in practice, but until then, a most heartfelt thank you from Miss Olive and her pet parents to the wonderful Dr. Robertson, Christine, Nick and other staff for such excellent, attentive and caring service, and giving us answers and a plan of action regarding Olive's uveal cyst. read more

That being said I felt they were using my love for my dog to try to make lots of money off of me, the office visit was expensive to start and the procedure they were suggesting was expensive, painful to my dog and they did not guarantee that it would work. We live in Palm Springs. Our Pomeranian "Russell" we noticed had a full blown red eye. This happened on a Saturday night and the only option was the ER for animals in Indio. We raced over and after 6 hours we're told he's blind in one eye and the other will go soon. Sent us off with eye drops and almost garaunteed glaucoma. At this point we're devastated as this is our kid who is just a year old. I researched over the weekend who to take him to and found this place. Called on Monday right when they opened and they squeezed me in that day. I can't tell you how great they are. Not only is my dog not blind he's made a full recovery due to the knowledge and care from eye care for animals. We drive for check ups every other month and it's and hour and a half away. -Took my dog here in May of 2022 wanting them to assess if he was a candidate for cataract removal surgery -initial examination yielded a diagnosis of dry eyes and an almost fully formed cataract in one eye and a partial cataract developing in the other -he was prescribed Diclofenac and cyclosporine eye drops -I made clear that I wanted him to be tested to see if he was a candidate for cataract removal surgery -it was told to me that they would perform the test upon the next visit - end of visit 1, i was charged ~$330, and told to reschedule for the test at a later date -2nd visit occurred in September of 2022 -arrived and the doctor proceeded to do another routine examination -doctor reported on the progress of his previously diagnosed conditions -I asked if they were going to perform the test to see if he was a candidate and the doctor said no -I asked why not, and she stated that it had to be scheduled in advance. I reminded her that she had said that they would do it on the next visit after the initial appointment. She denied ever having said that previously. She also told me that it was her professional opinion that my dog was not a candidate for cataract removal surgery based on the retinal degeneration she was seeing in the eye that had only a partially developed cataract. She said it was her professional opinion that even if we removed the cataract that he would just be blind anyhow because of the retinal degeneration. -end of visit 2, i was charged another few hundred dollars and I left devastated thinking my dog was going completely blind and there was not a thing I could do about it. -called Veteranary Opthalmic Consulting in Upland and was seen in November of 2022 -upon the 1st visit they wasted no more of my money and performed the test to see if he was a viable candidate for cataract removal surgery (the same test that I went to Eye Care for animals twice trying to get performed only to be told I was probably wasting my time) -it was determined that my dog in fact was a viable candidate and we scheduled the surgery for December of 2022 and the surgery was performed on the scheduled date -it is now January of 2023, both cataracts are gone, my dog has his vision completely restored, and there is absolutely no sign of retinal degeneration in either eye! Please use this review as guidance when choosing where you will take your beloved pet to be professionally cared for. read more

On August 1st 2022 I received a voicemail and a missed call from their receptionist while I was at work that morning around 9:52 a.m. previously I had sent an email to their email listing after searching for an eye care specialist for my little dog DeeDee. On July 29th my dog had a serious accident which caused her left eye to pop out and she was rushed to the nearby veterinarian located in Fontana california where the vet did surgery and put the eye back in. The Fontana Animal Hospital. I was looking for an eye specialist that specialized in eyes to have a closer look at my dog's eye. In the voicemail the receptionist noted to me that there wasn't a doctor in the office due to covid protocols and availability wasn't available until the 2nd or 3rd week of August. That was his exact words I still have the voicemail message. I was happy and so on my break I decided to call the facility back but the receptionist told me that the next available appointment was on the 7th of September. I was disappointed and noted to him that in the voicemail he told me that it would be the second or third week of August. He lied saying that he never mentioned anything about that and yelled at me over the phone telling me that I was wrong and that I did not know what I was talking about. I told him the situation about my little dog's eye and express great concern that September 7th would be way too late for her . He told me "That it was not his problem !" I asked him if he can show some compassion for my dog. He then told me why don't I go look for another specialist since I was so upset and abruptly hung the phone up on me. I was really upset. I immediately called back but it went to voicemail message. So I left a message requesting to speak with a manager or higher level to follow a complaint against the receptionist. I am trying to find care for my little dog's eye and this is how he treats me!? A half hour later in desperation I called and booked the appointment for the 7th of September. After finishing booking the receptionist asked if I still "wanted to speak with a manager to complain on him!?" At that time I wanted to be the better person and so I told him no and I apologized for everything even though I was not in the wrong. I told him I was sorry. His response was "I'm sure you are!" He said in a smart alecky tone "Just be here on September 7th at 8:30 a.m. and don't be late!" He then hung the phone up on me. I felt completely disrespected and belittled by this receptionist. He offered no apology whatsoever after arguing with me about the situation. No pet owner who is dealing with a pet that has any type of eye trauma should ever be put down or belittled by this receptionist and I do not want anyone to go through what I did with him! I ended up canceling my appointment for the 7th of September and I'm going somewhere else. No pet ownership ever have to experience anything like this! read more

I am so thankful for Dr calvarese at eye care for animals! I was battling a corneal ulcer on my boxer that just would not heal, also known as boxer ulcers or indolent ulcers. We exhausted all treatments with my primary vet and after 2wks it was time for the specialist. Dr calvarese did a grid keratotomy on his eye ball to stimulate healing. Yesterday my regular vet stained his eye and I am very happy to report the ulcer is gone and he's back to his normal self. Yes; they are a specialist so the cost is more, but it really in the long run it wasn't that much more than it would have been to continue taking my dog to his regular vet twice weekly for rechecks, eye stains and medications and getting no where. And it was less stress on myself and my dog, one treatment with eye care for animals and the Issue was resolved. Thank you so much! read more

I originally made an appointment for the animal emergency hospital but then i saw this right next to it like literally..they share the same lobby! So I decided to get my dog checked here instead because he has eye problem. They accept walk-ins if you're willing to wait so i highly suggest to make an appointment. I thought we were gonna end up waiting for an hour but we were inside after 20min wait so not too bad for a walk-in but then we got here early. Their clinic is very clean and organized. The vet tech Sandy was very friendly, helpful and patient with Starky my dog. She gave him treats and she was careful when she was doing the preliminary eye tests. Then Dr. Freitz came in the room and did more eye tests on my dog while Sandy was holding Starky and making sure he's okay and calm. Overall, it was a great first time experience for me and dog with an ophthalmologist. We paid $220 including 1 oral tablets, 1 eye drop, the tests and consultation = peace of mind that my dog was in a great care. read more

Our dog needed a special surgery, and the vet tech Nicole, and the vet did an amazing job taking care of our dog. While she is still in recovery, she is so much happier! They are quick and friendly on the phone, and even responded to my e-mail immediately. Before the surgery we had a 20 minute phone conversation with the doctor and he guided us through multiple procedure options and the pros and cons of each, answering all of our questions and was overall extremely helpful. My Dolce got into a fight with another dog and his eye was swollen shut. Our vet referred me to this clinic. There are only three clinics that treat eyes and they are located in Upland, Pasadena and Irvine. They were booked solid but when I kept calling, frantically trying to get an appointment, they finally squeezed me in. Once I arrived, the wait seemed very short. The clinic is small but very clean and fresh. I appreciate that the metal exam tables are covered by a gel mat and then a blanket, making it very plush for my Dolce to stand on. Positive experience | After receiving unsuccessful eye treatment from my local vet, he referred us to Eye Care for Animals. Keep in mind, they are eye specialists. It's not like you're going to Walmart to buy glasses, so expect to pay for specialist treatment. They evaluated the ulcer in in my dog's eye. They offered us 2 treatment procedures, along with the success rate. Everything was explained and gave us literature to read in case we had questions later. I dropped my dog off in the morning for surgery and she was ready to go by lunch. The treatment included meds & 2 follow up visits. After about 2 months later my dog's eye fully recovered.
