Story time - Vapor Maven, West Broadway shopping center by Walmart…read more Entered around 6:00 looking around. Found a wax maid That was listed at 11.99. When I went to check out, I inserted my card, and was told my total was 32 something. It was too late to pull out my card, however, I immediately confirmed with the cashier that the total was correct as it didn't match the listed price. She confirmed that it was listed at 11.99, but when she scanned the barcode, it was $32 + dollars. My transaction had already went through and She wasn't sure what to do, so she contacted her supervisor, Rose. Rose first advised her that if the sale was finalized, there was nothing he could do. No refund could be issued. The cashier informed him that the mistake was not mine, and asked if we could refund the difference. Rose, who was on speakerphone, told the cashier that the only way that she could refund me was to contact someone above him, and " you have a better chance of reaching him than you do of winning the lottery." The cashier expressed to him and so many words that this was unacceptable, at which time Rose agreed to take my information and pass it along in case I could get a refund. I then asked the cashier if there was anyone I could contact or any information I could take down to ensure that my complaint was taken serious and that I would not get "lost in the system". at that time, Rose agreed to contact his supervisor, I believe his name was Cole, directly. I listened as Cole explained that I could be refunded for the difference. The cashier asked if I could get any sort of discount for my inconvenience, and which the reply was, she is getting her $19 back, that is a discount for her convenience enough. That was the amount they owed back to me, but OK, fine. At this time, I went to my car, and left the vapor maven parking lot and drove into the adjacent Walmart parking lot. As I looked at the product I received, I noticed that it looked very dirty, and I immediately took it out of the package. I noticed that the instructions were covered in a waxy substance, and when I opened the wax made product itself, I could see a waxy residue all over the inside. Clearly, this product had been used. Less than 10 minutes after I left, I returned with the product and informed the cashier that it had been sold to me used. The cashier then called Rose back, who then called what seemed to be his supervisor Cole back. After a significant amount of time, rose and his supervisor called the cashier on speakerphone. They informed her that it was very possible that I left the parking lot with the product and immediately switched it out with a used one. I do understand that their policy is no returns or exchanges once you leave their store. They have every right to deny me a refund. However, the truth of a matter is that I was sold a product that had been used. I have no idea what kind of substance was inside. The cashier also confirmed that there was a long black hair stuck in the product, in addition to a waxy substance. Although everyone associated with vapor maven that I heard from, aside from the cashier, insisted that I was in the wrong, I did contact 311 to let them know that I was sold at contaminated product. Under Missouri law, it is illegal to sell a product that has been previously used to an illicit substance, whether illegal, or not. As a consumer, I have no way of knowing what was in the product that I bought. No idea if it would make me sick, or whose mouth it had been on before me. I was told by the officer that called me back from the 311 line that I could take the product with me, and file a civil suit to get a refund. However, I am not quite petty enough to try and get a $32 refund. My main concern as that people could be buying used products That have been contaminated with who knows what from a vapor maven location. The officer I spoke to also advised me that I could leave the product at the location, and that they would come to investigate later. This is the option I chose to pursue. I just wanted everyone to be aware of the kind of quality they can expect from vapor maven. Last, but most certainly not least, and I hope she does not mind me mentioning her name, Andy at this location was the cashier in question. She was absolutely wonderful, so empathetic and understanding, and deserves so much better than working under the kind of management she does. I thoroughly wish her the very best, and if I did not already despise the company I worked for, I would absolutely be trying to poach her to work for me. Thank you, Andy for the most wonderful experience I could ask for in such a bad circumstance.
