The drinks are rather pricey with cocktails coming in at over a fiver and continental beers at just under. We didn't try the food but the prices lay between £10 and £30 for a meal and the menu looked good. We brought our baby here and the staff didn't have a problem with it. Anyway have been several times since then, and the coffee is amazing. The staff are coffee mad and take it really seriously. Abit freaky but the coffee is exceptional. I usually drink coffee at Nonna's or Bragazzis but this stuff is better. Have only eaten there once but the food was fresh, and very tasty and my mate even managed to buy gluten free cake - which was great as it stopped her moaning for ages while I ate mine! The outside area is lovely with seats by the river but its been too cold to sit out every time I have been. I was offered a blanket but I am not that brave. I have drunk coffee in alot of places - most of bad, weak, milky and bitter but they have really upped the ante. Abit pricey but well worth it. Just don't ask for chocolate on your cappuccino!!

The coffee which i waited an age for whilst the barrista chatted away with a dog! was bitter, and don't even get me started on the cakes. i know when cake has come from a wholesaler rather than being homemade but the women behind the counter insisted they were all made that day by herself. this was a blatant lie and next time maybe they should do a better job of hiding the costco packaging when staff are replenishing supplies it's a shame about this place as it's in a lovely spot, and it has the plus point of not being of the twee tea room genre so proliific in the peak district and apart from the women behind the counter the rest of the staff seem to be very sweet.

The person behind the till was a bit officious though. We'd chosen to sit at two tables outside (there being nine of us). When she asked us which table we were sitting at, we said "those two tables". To which she said, "yes, but which one?". "Both of them". "But which one?" This repeated a few times in kafkaesque fashion, until we chose just one. Still, it provided a holiday anecdote.

My buddy and his girlfriend opened a cafe about a year ago and after some extensive goggle mapping, I realised I was a 20 minute drive from them. Aptly named "Cafe Adventure" we set off to walk in as a surprise guest, just dropping in (from Hong Kong)... Also, we were starving. The cafe has a homey feel to it with wooden tables, mismatched chairs. For me, the selling point on venue is the outdoor space. With tables, chairs and an awning you can happily enjoy the British weather with a side of coffee. We ordered a range of breakfasts, from English fry ups (complete with black pudding) to sausage sandwiches to crumpets. All the ingredients were fresh with that gorgeous local feel to it. I found the bread (baps and bloomers) are sourced from a bakery in Sheffield. Err, hello and yes please. I was the sausage sandwich recipient and gobbled this down without a second thought. Coffee is also good here and my family went for a couple of rounds. Value add - ask Bill (my pal) for some local walks. He and his partner, Rachel, are avid cyclists full of local knowledge. Bill sent us off (with a car load of baked goods too, hello sultana flapjacks) to Mom Tor for a little stroll and some beautiful views. Although I may be slightly biased with my review, as a tourist to the area, Cafe Adventure is the perfect spot for a coffee and a good slice of British cuisine whilst on a tour of the Peak District.

Grindleford Station Cafe is located near the railway station in the picturesque Peak District…read morevillage of Grindleford and while initial impressions may indicate that it's owned by a marker pen wheeling mad man due to all the little paper signs everywhere informing all the customers of the many rules associated with eating here including 'one napkin per person' and the very important 'don't ask for mushrooms as we don't sell them' the food served here is excellent and well worth the trip. This cafe is very popular with both walkers and bikers and parking can be a little awkward if you arrive in a car, fortunately we always come by bike!
