I believe when you are conducting business with a place of business such as an Exxon they should have a restroom available for patrons. I work nearby in a government office and this is the only gas station I pass on the way home. I have used them a few times but will no longer choose to spend my money here. This is the second time I have asked to use the restroom while spending over 80.00 in gas each time I come to only be denied access. I have watched my Caucasian counterparts ask for the restroom and they were allowed access while myself a minority woman was denied. It is despicable how I was treated. read more

I know this is long and you don't want to read the entire thing but I feel like with this negative of a review I should give the entire story . The summary is I had to take my car back multiple times, pay to get it towed, and was charged over the quote. So my car started having trouble on February 24th so the next morning I drop it off at Ponce De Leon Exxon for them to have a look at it. They sell me a tune up and charge me for a "system check" and send me on the way saying the problem should be solved. The next day I get in my car and the issue is worse than it was before they worked on my car. I bring the car back, they hook the computer, shake some wires, and say they can't find the problem but if it happens again I should turn my car off and back on and that should resolve the issue. After a couple of minimal car use the check engine light came on and stayed. I thought, "Great now the computer can find the problem!" I bring the car back to Ponce De Leon Exxon and they still can't find the problem. After my car sits a day the check engine light goes out and I'm told to continue cycle my cars power if I have issues. Two weeks later the check engine light comes on again so I drive straight there, don't turn off my car, and let them diagnose the issue. They discover the problem, give me a quote, and tell me to bring my car back the next day. What they don't tell me is that this problem means my car won't start the next day. So on Friday April 2nd I have my car towed to their shop to have the work done. I don't hear from them so I give them a call on Saturday April 3rd and they tell me they can't get to the car until Monday. No problem I don't drive much and it is a holiday weekend so nobody needs to work late on Saturday. Monday passes without a call so on Tuesday I call and am told they'll call me back in an hour, no call back. Wednesday I call and am told they'll call me back in an hour, no call back. Thursday I call and am told they don't have a ticket for my car so they'll figure it out and call me in five minutes. I call them back two hours later to be told they'll get to it on Friday (a full week after I dropped off my car). On Friday I don't get a call until about 12:30 to tell me that they have found the problem (the same problem they told me a week and a half ago) and they quote a price $200 more than the previous quote for the same work. I inquire about the price and discover a charge for finding the problem and the price of the part is more expensive. They agree not to charge the service fee since I had paid it my previous visit and provide a 15% discount for parts and labor because I hear about them online. The total price was still above the original quote but I just want my car back at this point. So when I go to pick up my car I'm looking at the paper work for the repair. The manufacturer had sent a bulletin that detailed my make and model, described the exact issue I was having, and told the repair people how to fix it. Had they looked at this bulletin in February it would have saved me over $300 and the month of March without use of my car. UPDATE: I have been contacted by the business owner who is attempting to resolve the issue. I appreciate the responsiveness of the business owner and look forward to the resolution. I'm just basing this review on the convenience store and the store exits. I don't like this gas station very much for a couple of reasons. Trying to get out of the station at certain times is a pain in the ass. I usually need to take a right on Moreland, but it seems there is always some idiot trying to take a left. Taking a left on Moreland where there is no light is nearly impossible. Cars get really backed up trying to exit the gas station. Also, if you want to buy something in the store, it can take forever. They usually have one clerk, who runs the hot food counter and the store customers. I've left the store twice because the clerk was helping people choose their meals. It seems that the food counter is more important than the store customers. read more

I certainly have had problems with the service I received from this location. Of the three times I've brought my Jeep in, I've had to bring it back the very next day. The first time I brought it in for some maintenance, after I picked it up I saw that all the electrical had been cut. The second time I wanted them to fix the check engine light issue. They said I needed a tune up, so I paid the $450. As I was driving home, the light came back on, so I had to turn around and leave it for another day. I decided to take it somewhere else after the light came back on again when driving home the second time. This last time I had to tow my jeep in because it wouldn't start. The shop is nice and close to my house, so it was convenient for towing. A simple sensor replacement was what solved the problem. However, just like the other two times, as I was driving home, an issue arose. But this time my Jeep started accelerating uncontrollably down Ponce. I had to use my emergency break several times and put it in neutral at red lights, damaging who knows what on my gears. Worst was the idea that I could potentially kill myself or someone else if I lost control. One of the mechanics called me the next day to tell me it was an accident, and he mis-installed the part causing it to press on my accelerator cable. Not only is that the third strike, but I felt it was important to come on here and warn people of the poor service I've received. read more

Ponce Exxon has handled repairs for me requiring the sophistication of a dealership (U.S./Japanese), but more conveniently and less expensively. They have standing instructions to call me with the estimate once the car is diagnosed. I have never had a repair go over estimate nor had to take anything back, so work done is competent. Prices are fair, but not dirt cheap. The location is not chi chi: don't go there expecting a "barista" behind a counter dispensing cappuccinos and light finger foods while you wait. (But do pick up an AJC and a pack of smokes!) Ponce Exxon earns five stars as they had my car detailed before returning it to me after a time-consuming repair. Nice touch. Another time they went "above and beyond" by standing behind their labor in spite of a defective part. In that situation, this couldn't be helped and wasn't necessary but was appreciated just the same. Bravo! Or "brava!" (Woman-owned shop.) Member of the "Shawn W. Hall of Fame." read more

I have to say that I am a big fan of the service center at this Exxon. We all know the fuel is way overpriced and the store is not that 'convenient', but the guys in the garage have pulled my ox out of the ditch several times. Most recently I had a tire slowly going flat and did not notice it until a coworker pointed it out at the shop. I also had a meeting in W Midtown in 1 hour. Flirting with the idea of going ahead and driving the flat to the meeting I had visions of melting into 14th St while changing the spare during the 100 degree heat. Judging on past experience with Exxon they have plugged four tires for me, sold me two brand new ones, always ask if my fluids are ok, and just generally are helpful. This time I had ushered upfront, he found the small nail that sprung the leak, plugged it, and gave me a handshake and charged me ZERO! I immediately waltzed inside and pulled cash from the ATM and tipped him. Thanks fellas for the all the hard work throughout the years. You are much appreciated. read more

I decided to try this Exxon garage based on other Yelp reviews. I'm happy to say that I've had nothing but great experiences with them. They're always helpful in getting my car in, they haven't pressured me into buying things that I don't need and they've always done a great job. I took my car here when the mechanic who changes my oil suggested I needed my serpentine belt changed - like, badly needed it changed. I took my car immediately (I was making a 3 hour drive the next day and did not want to take any chances). I had to leave for work by a certain time, and the owner (Tom?) said he could have it done by then. And he delivered! The car seemed to ride better, and I made my round-trip to Albany with no problems. I did have to wait for a while, but I was told that I would have to, so no problems there. The owner was very personable and we chatted for a long time while I waited, so that was a plus. I'd definitely come here again. read more

I've taken our 3 cars to this shop for over 8 years and been happy with most of the service. NO MORE. I took my SUV for a checkup before a road trip. I was told I needed a new timing belt at 60K. It didn't seem right so I told the manager I would have to think about it. He offered $50 off if I would leave it that day. I didn't and later checked my owners manual which said every 100K miles. I called the dealer and they said every 90K miles. When I took a friend back to pickup her car later in the day, I politely gave the manager a chance to explain. He was very defensive and unapologetic. He said he uses the same online system that all mechanics use to look up scheduled services. Obviously the DEALERS is different. Then my friend tried to talk to him about the work done on her car...too long of a story but it too was a mess and the manager blamed it on the previous manager. Still no apology. I have lost trust in this manager. If I had listened to him I would have spent $800 for no reason. read more

This is my second time in the service center, and I really like what I have seen. My first time was for an oil change. They were very fast and reasonably priced, and offered to call me when the service was done so that I could go shopping next door while I waited. I also had an emissions test with them yesterday and it was just as easy and convenient. I drove in at 3:30 not knowing they closed at 4pm (Saturday). They informed me they could take me once they were done with the other cars, and that it would take 45 minutes. If you guys didn't notice, this means the mechanic had volunteered to stay past his work hours just so I could get my emissions done, which isn't even an emergency. Additionally, since I live close by I decided to just walk home and pick up the car later that evening. The sweet lady at the convenience store offered to keep my keys til I was ready, since the convenience store is open 24/7. I came back 2-3 hours later, had all the documents and keys ready for me and only paid $25. So easy! Will definitely be using them again. read more

A disaster. I was on my way to work and I stopped to pump gas but the pump was broken and sprayed gas all over me my car and the pavement. When I reported that the pump was not working no one seemed to care that the pump was broken. They did let me use their employee bathroom to wash my hands. I ended up having to pay for 4 gallons of gas that spilled all over the ground not to mention being an hour late to work this morning because I had to go home and change my clothes. No I smell like gasoline and so does the inside of my car and I'm out $10 of gas that I didn't even get. read more

I was towed to this station at 1 a.m. after my car broke down on my second day living in the city. Great service technicians. They gave me an honest quote on work that genuinely needed to be done. They called with estimated completion times and actually finished early. I'm a repeat customer--had all of the spark plug heads and all belts replaced. I haven't had my oil changed there yet. You need to know that even though the garage is now closed at the Ponce location, all of the service crew has moved to the Lindberg location (Piedmont and Lindberg). read more

I was trying to remove my old license plate to put on the GA plate, and one of the screws was so rusted from Midwestern winter road salt I partially stripped it. I took it in and they took care of it right away, even putting on the new plate, and didn't charge me. Super-nice! read more

I'd had my air conditioner checked by my regular mechanic and was told I just needed freon. Of course, my mechanic promptly left for vacation and temperatures went through the roof. Hence my stop by here. Not only did the manager tell me that I would have to pay three times the market rate for charging my a/c, but that "his" mechanics would have to redo the test I'd just had done less than four days earlier ~ at an additional charge, of course. I offered an opinion commensurate with his rates and left. Well, apparently this bald pitiful creature is not accustomed to women expressing themselves, so he followed me to my car, yelling that I never come back to his shop again ... AS IF!!! I first tried Exxon a year ago on a whim and quick internet search. I've been back three times since. Oil change, ignition switch, timing belt. The service is always great, fast, and honest. Once I told the mechanic that I wanted a tune up (just sounded good to me and I'm trying to keep the car in good shape). The mechanic called me later and said I could get one if I really wanted too, but that I didn't NEED one at the time. Supposedly everything was "firing" good (whatever that means). So that saved me a few hundred bucks for my vehicle. I appreciate that type of service. This is why I will continue to go back. read more

I decided to choose this location based on other positive Yelp reviews, and the discount offer for mentioning Yelp (tip: print out the offer). I had been having trouble with my steering for a few weeks and was looking for a fair and reputable in-town shop, they delivered! Their time and price quotes were very fair. They estimated 45-60 minutes to diagnose it the first day, explained the problem (busted high pressure hose causing power steering fluid to leak and me to get a wicked upper body workout trying to park and turn sharp corners), checked on part availability and said when they would call with more information. They temporarily refilled my power steering fluid for free and sent me on my way. As promised they called to say the part was ready and how long it would take to fix. I drove the car over to drop it off and they drove me back home so I could work for the afternoon. Unfortunately they couldn't finish it by EOD, the manager called me to let me know they needed a little more time in the the morning which luckily was no big deal. He said it would be ready by 10:30am and my phone rang about that time. They were able to have someone from the shop come and pick me up and I went to settle the bill. The final estimate was a little higher than I expected. I asked Mike the manager about it and he went to extra lengths to get it worked out. My final bill was in line with my expectations and I will definitely take my car there again. Extra bonus they take AmEx :) read more

I had a negative experience here a while back, and it ended up causing more damage to my car. I eventually had to take the car to another shop to get the work re-done properly after presenting evidence to Visa causing them to reverse the charges due to poor workmanship and the negligence of the initial mechanic. The lady who ran this shop at the time (and may still run it for all I know) seemed to want to do the right thing when it came to correcting big mistakes, but the mechanics were simply not skilled enough, with my car at least, to complete the work properly even after weeks of trial and errors. After taking the car directly to a place that specialized in my particular vehicle, which is a Cadillac, all of the problems were easily, quickly and properly fixed within 1 day for less cost. Since paying another shop to correct the mistakes, I have had zero problems even after 25,000 miiles. The staff seemed friendly and I suppose they might be more skilled in working with simpler cars with simpler problems. I just wouldn't recommend them for anything major. I like to assume that everyone involved had the best of intentions to resolve the major problems, but the bottom line is they could not fix my particular car and actually caused more damage in the process of trying over and again throughout a 3 month period. read more

This is by far the worst service center I know. They are incompetent, rude and they have the worst costumer service in the industry. My wife tuck my car to their location to have a nail remove from my tire and after they cut a bigger hole into my tire, they told her to go by a new tire because that one can not be fixed. When she tried to explain the manager that my tires were new and she does not understand why they cut a bigger hole into my tire he got no excuse. I went there and I fixed the tire myself into their parking lot. I try to ask the same question about cutting a bigger hole and instead of taking responsibility for their action, he call the owner of the Service Center who told me to leave the property. read more

I hate to get oil change because they always give me a long list to suggest me to do this and that. Even as a woman knowing nothing about car except how to drive, I found something wrong with that list. The only place who had never give me the list is here and manager explained to me what maybe needed to be replaced 6 month later, but not at that time.
