She did not know how to choose the annuity option for mega millions and said her manager is outside doing the grounds. I went to look for her and found her dumping boxes in the dumpster. I said excuse me could you help me with lotto tickets because the lady inside doesn't know how to do it? And the managers response was "yeah when I'm finished here". I thought that was a really rude response especially for a manager of the store when you have only one employee on a Saturday at noon running the register and doesn't know how to do the lotto machine with annuity payments. I walked back inside the store and now there were 5 people in line in front of me. I was just going to pay for my drink and leave. The manager came inside about 2 min later and hopped on a register and started helping checking people out. When I got to her I told her what I wanted and she completed my order. As I was walking out I heard her tell the other cashier not to ever send customers out to her when she is in the dumpster area. I do not know the managers name because she had no name tag on. The other cashier did not either. The manager was a thin white lady with brownish real curly hair. I do not think she was polite and did not have the customers best interest in mind. She rather throw away boxes then help customers and leave one girl on the register at peak hours. Also cashiers need to be trained on all aspects of the job and know how to do cash value and annuity options.

Valero - Not too bad for the back of an older convenience store. Notice these two dishes are pointed at different satillites? Putin outpost?

After keeping my eye out for that "Vintage" convenience store for my 3rd in a series review of…read moresuch, I came across the Valero Allen Eagle! While not fitting the ideal profile I've spent decades designing, it's close enough. Besides, I needed gas. With gas dropping pretty rapidly around here you can see a 10 cnt a gallon difference between several stores in a few blocks. $3.89 a gallon seemed good so I pulled in. As the tank was filling, I walked into the convenience part of the facility. Wow, was I wrong! You just cant profile these places because they are all so different and interesting. The variety of offerings at the front counter was astonishing. It made me think back to when I was a kid and service stations had those cardboard placards of corn cob pipes, cigarette lighters, and such. But this was that on steroids! Wow! I love these places because it says a lot about our neighbors, who we are living with in society and what they are buying. Amazing. So, in retrospect, even though this place probably isn't over 30 years old, if that, for the purpose of this review I'm classifying it in the Retro column. A quick look around reveals a similar scene as you see with most of these "vintage" shops. Boxes to be unloaded stacked in corners, storage closets open and in disarray, enormous amounts of cold beer and soft drinks in the coolers, various other items including gas cans, oil, cigarettes...the usual. There is an attached Taqueria. You have to exit the convenience side and re-enter in another door which is ashamed because it's un- intriguing!!! The "Back of The Store" photograph that I'm intending to make famous was average. Nothing to report there, as compared with my first two "vintage" reviews. All and all I give this place an honorable mention. It will probably develop into a fine Retro store by the time my grandson reviews it. Until then I say don't hesitate to.. Go!

This neighborhood gas station is by far my favorite in town! They have a decent wine/beer selection…read moretoo and most importantly they are friendly EVERY single time I'm there! Highly-recommend!!
