This place was a whole lot better when it was called American Self Storage. I gave a 30 day notice on December 27, 2023. Asked did I need to give a written notice and was told that I could go ahead and give a verbal. It was fine. I signed paperwork stating I will be terminating my contract with them. I was told I had to vacate by February 1st and did not have to sweep or anything, just leave the door open. I vacated the storage on Jan 25, 2024. Midgrade has charged me $165 for February and some other bogus BS charges. I left this storage unit in a clean condition and swept out. Bad enough the storage unit has a serious leak problem and leaked onto my couch, as well as other stored items. So of those items belonged to my late father. I am a disabled veteran on a fix income and cannot work due to serious health problems. So sorry I don't have extra money to just allow $165 to be taken from my bank account, like it's chump change. I never in a million years would have thought I would have issues with a storage facility that I been doing business with for 20 years. Then again this place is no longer own by American Self Storage original owners. Midgrade has taken over and at this point appears to be getting over on people, especially disabled veterans. I will not be doing business with this place ever again and will not recommend this place, like I had been doing for so many years in the past.

I went there with my Aunt, who has a storage there, so I could see about purchasing a storage. My father had just passed and I was trying to get a big enough storage to put his household items in. So my Aunt showed me her storage and also had to put some items in her storage. Turns out my Aunt storage she was renting was not big enough for me, so she showed me a bigger storage on the back that was empty. Next thing I know "KAREN" comes flying around the corner and pull very closely to my vehicle and "Ask me what are you doing over here? Why are you here?" I told her I came to purchase a storage and was trying to see if the biggest one she had was big enough for me to purchase. She then told me that I suppose to come in the office and blah, blah,blah. So I told her "My Aunt has a storage here. So we have to come straight to the office too just for her to check her own storage?" Then my Aunt spoke to her and explain what we had been doing and also told her she put some more stuff in her storage...Next thing "KAREN" does is ask my Aunt "Did you pay your storage? Is your storage paid up?" I looked at my Aunt and asked her"Is this KAREN really serious? What does you paying your storage has to do with anything? Also she better back the hell up off this truck." "KAREN" finally left us alone and said we had to come up to the office. I was already dealing with the loss of my father, which had been a couple of days, so this lady rudeness was too much for me to handle on top of what I was dealing with. This "KAREN" was so extra, she was watching this couple park their three wheel motorcycle like they were out there parking stolen property. I mean other things happen too and "KAREN" was just beyond rude. I just decided not to do business there and I would just suggest to people of color BEWARE because this storage facility definitely has a in real life "KAREN" there. That lady needs some corrective training on customer service and learn how to speak to people correctly. Also as a veteran I would not even suggest this facility to other veterans.

The owners of this facility have been amazing with working with me during these times. As long as I let them know what is going on, I never have to worry about if my belongings will be sold at auction like another facility would do. The owner lets me make payments that work for my family, while giving me the peace of mind I need. I have also never had to worry about if my belongings are safe or not. I wouldn't move my things anywhere else...except into my own home, once we get a larger place.
