When we arrived at U-Haul we were ignored except for a mumbled "be with you in a minute" so we took the time to look over their storage unit size display. At this point I realized that I was about to pay $70/ month for a closet! (5x5) I decided to quickly look up the prices at Public Storage, since it didn't look like we were going to be helped any time soon. (I'm not angry that we had to wait, people are busy, but as a customer service person myself, I was frustrated by the lack of greeting) Much to my surprise the 10x10 was LESS EXPENSIVE than the 5x5 at U-Haul! We immediately left and headed up the street to the Public Storage. While we were driving I started filling out the online reservation and within 1 minute my phone rang. It was them! I haven't even filled out all the info yet! She asked when we're heading over and when I said "right now" she said great! She was already looking for an open unit for us and she would be ready when we got there. We walked in less than a minute later, and she was ready to go. She offered to show us the three units she had available and let us choose which one we wanted. She brought the lock with her and fixed us right up when we picked out the one we wanted. We followed her back to the office where she finished setting us up. This is where the Company really impressed me! 1) The 1st month only cost $1! 2) She gave me 2 options for paying- for 30 days OR through the end of May (I liked this because she let me choose and because the price barely changed) 3) Once I paid she asked if I wanted to set up for monthly payments and when I said yes all she had to do was push a button and it automatically set me up! No going online to set up an account and enter payment info, it was just done! 4) Same way with the account set up! All I had to do was select a password and it was done! The whole process was SO EASY! All in all, this was an amazing experience! It's hard when you're moving! There's so much on your mind and this process took so much of the pressure of of me, while still giving me choices! 100% would recommend! On another note, it took me 3 phone calls to cancel my reservation at U-Haul.

It was the best price around. I asked a lot of questions to make sure it was not just a short term special price. I was told it was the set price for those size units to get them rented. We rented our unit for $77/mo. Within 4 months the price jumped to $114/mo. I have rented units before with other companieds and I realize that prices go up, but usually bit by bit. This is a HUGE jump and I am very disappointed with them. ONE NOTE- the location I go to on Centennial Blvd in Colorado Springs is managed by an absolutely wonderful and caring person- Pamela. She is great. She even contatcted them to get a rate reduction after the increase. No such luck. Corporate is not upfront and honest. If I did not have my unit totally full, I would move out. I had a storage unit for 8 months at the rate of $185 per month. When it finally came time to move into my new place and retrieve my things from storage, it was the first week of the 9th month of storing my belongings at storage sense. I assumed there would be a prorated cost for moving out three weeks early- as there have been at every other storage facility I have ever used. (I am 60- I've used plenty.) I swept and dusted the unit prior to moving out, leaving it sparkly clean to ensure I could get that $138 refund allowance. As you probably guessed- I am writing this review because I did not get a prorated cost. Wether or not these things are company policy, it makes a massive difference in regards to securing long term customer relationships. In customer service, when a representative or manager meets a customer with understanding and can recognize an area where you can lose a small amount of money in order to establish a returning customer, it goes a long way- and actually benefits the company in the end. For example- now I have a load of seed for work that needs to be stored for 3+ years starting next month. Can you guess where I'm not going? The businesses I have frequented for 40+ years have made thousands off of me, near to millions. Rest assured that I'll never use this company again nor recommend it to anybody. Hell- I'll drive an hour and 20 just to give my money to individuals I like and respect - and feel respected by. And get this- These sons of bitches have rats too!

I rented a 5x5 unit from them but upon even moving in, even stepping foot in this facility, I realized I needed a larger unit. I called to see if I could be changed to a larger unit and was told that I'd have to just pay for BOTH units for the following month and then "move out" of a unit I have NEVER EVEN MOVED IN TO. I decided that I'd go with a different facility completely at this point and asked for my account to be closed to which I was again told I'd have to "move out" in person... MOVE OUT OF A FACILITY IVE NEVER BEEN TO?! About two weeks ago someone reached out to me about my unit saying it was red tagged or something to that nature. I said once again, I've never been to this facility, I've never been in the unit and I asked to stop being contacted and billed for this weeks ago. The man I spoke with asked if they had my "permission" to access to the unit to confirm it's empty. I told him that I don't even know how to access the unit so sure! have at! 3 days later I'm charged for the unit. The first person I spoke to said that they could see id never been there and could see that it was confirmed empty. They disconnected and when I called back I got "Darian"... she said that I won't be charged after this month but they have to "confirm" I've "moved out" so that's why I was charged again. You're joking. Everything is electronic... you know that I've NEVER been there and it doesn't take a week to determine whether I've moved out or not when I have quite literally NEVER moved in. I have disputed this with my bank and the bank is getting kickback. The charge is minimal but it's the principal of this. I'm going to pursue legal action if the charge is not reversed and I've already reported them to the BBB. Charging people for services you aren't providing them is illegal and trying to convince them that you need all this time to confirm x, y & z may work on someone who doesn't understand that all of this is electronic but it doesn't work on me. It's not bad enough y'all have had INSIDE JOB theft? You want to continue the bad reputation by charging people for things they aren't even receiving? I went with another facility and have had nothing but the BEST customer service and EASY payments, move ins, access, etc. save yourself the stress and do not even risk working with a facility that's this scummy.

I hate this place. There's nobody physically there to help with anything! They have a "virtual…read moreassistant", and each time I've used it, it takes at least twice as long to get anything done! There is a "manager" on site, but who knows what he does. He doesn't help the customers. My rent more than tripled in the last couple of years. Out of nowhere I got an email that said my storage unit was found unsecured. I just moved to a different (smaller, less expensive) unit a month prior. When I called to try and get some answers, nobody answers and I leave a message. I also sent a reply email. Someone finally called me back a couple of hours later and explained that my unit was likely locked open. They put a lock on my unit and the email said I was being charged for it. I go over to my unit to investigate, and what a runaround! First, I get there and my original lock is nowhere to be found. So I go back to the main office. I then get told that they know nothing about my lock and that I probably had a break in. I go back over to my unit to look at the contents and nothing appears to be disturbed. Meanwhile, I have to use the password key pad for each entry and exit, and the new explanation makes even less sense. I purchase yet another lock from them via virtual assistant. So very frustrating that I can't just talk to a person in person. It's a huge waste of my time. When I asked why they have a manager on site the assistant said they are there to clean the property. Sounds pretty cush to me. I'm not planning on staying there much longer. Don't rent a storage unit here.

They also automatically…read moresigned me up for $20/month insurance that only covers $5k, and they make it sound like you have to show them proof of insurance before cancelling, when all you really need to do is find the spot on your account page to cancel. BTW I have homeowners insurance and never wanted nor needed theirs. Be careful with these guys. The unit is clean but I don't like how they do business. I would be careful about loading up a unit then having them jack up your rate 42%.
