When I called to let them know I no longer needed the pans of chicken--because the price had jumped from $85 to $150 in just two weeks--I was met with nothing but attitude. Mary Beth, the person who returned my call, had one of the worst tones I've ever experienced in customer service. No understanding, no courtesy, just condescension. I wasn't asking for a discount or arguing the increase--I simply couldn't justify the price hike and made other arrangements. But instead of professionalism or grace, I got unnecessary attitude. After decades of loyalty, this is how a longtime customer is treated? For anyone else considering catering chicken from The Gentry, I want to share this: you can get the exact same chicken--called Laura's Chicken--from Mr. D's for just $87 a pan. Same taste, drastically better price, and much better customer service. I never thought I'd say this, but after this experience, I won't be using The Gentry again. Everything was handled perfectly. They came to our site and set up the tables with tablecloths and cloth napkins. (They have many colors to choose from, so we asked for white tablecloths and napkins in different bright colors.). We were very pleased with the high quality of their food, and the service they provided to us. After the celebration was over, they packed up everything quietly and promptly.
