Upon arrival, the employee asked if we were on a field trip or something. My friend and I each had our adult children with us. Not a field trip. Then we entered La Bella Maison, where the employee was on the phone stating "yes, they just walked in". She hung up and told us the other store had called her to tell her about a group of beautiful people coming her way. ??? It was beyond bizarre--and disappointing.

We entered and were greeted very warmly. Wifey informed the lady what she was looking for and she personally walked us directly to the booth. So this place is not just for craft supplies it is a huge market with everything you can think of. We checked out the craft booth we wanted to visit and then we walked around the whole facility, which is basically the size of a warehouse. There were plenty of nooks and crannies to explore. Anything you're looking for; from original art to clothing to furniture is available. The staff was very friendly, asking us multiple times if we needed help finding anything. I have been recovering from illness so this outing was meant to be a comforting return to a familiar place. I wanted to browse stretch my legs and enjoy myself. The store looked great and the cashier along with a very kind clerk helped me with my selections and explained a sale misunderstanding. They were professional and pleasant. The issue was the behavior of the floor staff. As I shopped I noticed employees repeatedly watching me. One young worker was extremely obvious. She peeked around corners followed my movements and stared at me in a way that felt more like surveillance than customer service. I have lived long enough to know the difference between normal store awareness and being singled out. When I reached the checkout she came and stood directly in front of me staring as if she was evaluating me. She interrupted the clerk helping me with a comment about her phone while never breaking eye contact. Then she and the others walked away. In that moment I felt violated. Not uncomfortable not mistaken but violated. Whoever trained these employees needs to take them back into training because this behavior was intrusive unprofessional and completely unnecessary. I completed my purchase but the experience ruined what should have been a peaceful outing. I will not be returning. Some places change and unfortunately this one has changed for the worse.

It turned out to be a mismatch of scratch and debt one off stuff. Not too much to see and it certainly did not take hours to look through as one review suggested. There just was not much worth much! It is a stack it up, hunt and Peck, display of stuff that is only for those liking to spend a lot on items that are messed up. Some manufactures are not included - although no sign actually says that. Regardless, even then the prices on the items I bought were marked $10 less than what they were ringing up at the register. 30% off of $10.00 more ... Then when an item I know is included because I bought them yesterday and they rang up 30% and I was buying other items same manufacture - she argued with me and even said if she looses her job it's my fault but I don't care. Wait, what!? You weren't concerned with loosing your job when you were overcharging me but when you give me what you clearly are advertising all over, you'll get fired. She even went as far as to say she was going to find out who gave me the price yesterday PS it rang up 30% as it should have because the big old sign EVERYWHERE says 30% STOREWIDE to make sure she reports it. Angry much lady! Mind you she absolutely didn't give me the discount on another item and I didn't argue because I had nothing to argue with her - I hadn't bought anything else by that brand. Still think she was wrong. Just to add insult to injury she tells me that because she couldn't get her system to change the register price to the price marked on the items, I benefited from her ignorance because she gave an extra dollar off those items. Gave me? Lady I didn't ask for it, I just wanted the correct price and discount, I didn't want more or less. Your inability is not my problem. Also, you can't math, it was .34 on the items. Anyway, she was rude, unhelpful and if she isn't working there next time I go, as she said, it is not my fault, it's her cheating customers, bad attitude and absolute lack of customer service. Note this review is specifically about this one encounter and person. Yesterday, I had a lovely experience and while I will be checking my receipt again, I do believe everything rang up correctly.
